Uses of Liebherr large crawler tractors
In open cast coal mining, crawler tractors are used to loosen and displace excavated material in order to prepare terrain for large excavators and to form and clean roadways.
Device configuration
Each Liebherr crawler tractor can be individually configured. In coal mines, crawlers are very often equipped with a U-blade, rear ripper or counterweight and wide track shoes.
High pull and pushing force
The friction-locked and infinitely variable hydrostatic travel drive give Liebherr crawler tractors high pull and pushing forces. This innovative drive system enables simple and safe operation in all work situations.
Outstanding levelling characteristics
Coal mining requires the regular laying of track systems and conveyor belts. The formation level required for the “moving over” are very quickly created by Liebherr crawler tractors.

Belt reverse crawler tractor in open cast coal mining
Liebherr PR 754 belt reverse crawler. The efficient combination device.
The basic machine can be converted into a “belt reverse” crawler in a very short time. This allows long conveyor belt systems to be shifted sideways. This multiple use of machine reduces the amount of devices required and brings about a substantial reduction in costs for the operator.
