LG HSC5650 Quick Setup Guide

QUICKSETUPGUIDE

FOR HCS5650

Setup requires LG Setup Remote #124-213-07.Note: Cloning multiple HCS5650 units requires an LG #LT2002 (TLL-1100A can also be used) cloner. Contact your LG Account Manager at 877-793-6484 for information on how to obtain these.

STEP 1. CONNECT THE HCS5650 TO MONITOR

The orderin whichyou connect theHCS5650to themonitor maybe a critical factor in a successful setup. Wait to turn on monitor.Make sure to first connect these cables from the HCS5650 to the monitor 1) HDMI, 2) RS-232C, 3) power cordand 4) RF Coaxial cable.The HCS5650cycles at “plug-in”andlocatesa monitor with which to integrate. If no monitor is connected at “plug-in”,it may not setup properly.

STEP 2. POWER UP MONITOR

After connectingas explainedabove, turn on the HCS5650/monitor using the setup remote. It is important to only hit the powerbutton one time as the initial power-up may take30 seconds from the time the power buttonis hit.

STEP 3. ENTER INSTALLER MENU

Aim the setup remote at the TV and toggle the menu buttonuntil the menu locks up. Then enter the installer’s menu code (9876)and pressEnter. You will now see the installers menu.

STEP 4. SET TV TO DEFAULT

Using thearrowkeyson the remote, select item 117which is FactoryDefault. Change the setting to 1 and pressenter.

STEP 5. TUNING SETTINGS

Go back intothe Installers menu usingthe directionsabove:

Set Band Mode (Item 003) – Default is “1” for cable; Set to “0” for

Broadcast

ScanMode (Item 013)– Default is set to “1” to enablingTV to power off after scrolling through all of the channels once the ‘2+5+5+Menu’ stepis performed. This is generally desirable whenTV is being used with older pillow speaker/remoteswhich lack a TV Power Button. Option: Setto “0” to allow scrolling throughchannels continuouslywithoutpow-

ering off the TV.

Disableunwanted inputs(Oneor more of the followingInstallerMenu Items: 035, 036, 038, 039, 087,091,092) – Set to “0” to disableselectedinput(s)from showing up in the channel lineup.Withoutdisabling an input, it will appear in the channel line up when channeling up or down.Thisis done toaccommodate hospitals usingDVDplayersetc that desire patients to easilyselect the DVD player inputby simply scrolling through the channels until the DVD input appears.

Panel Delay (Item 110): Make sure this Item is set on “4”. Defaulthas been “8”, however we are changing it to “4” withfutureshipments.This will make the monitor turn on faster (and keep it fromgoingto hibernation while the monitor is powering on).

Pressthe “Enter” or “OK”Button two or three times to exitthe Installermenu and save your changes.

STEP 6. SET CHANNELS

Enter the TV’s On-Screen Menu by pressing the Menu Buttonon the remote.

Scan through the available channels using the ChannelUp/Down

Edit your channels to remove any unwanted channels Add logos to your channels as needed

STEP 7. LOCK CHANNELS & SETTINGS

Enter the Installers menuagain to “set” your TV with the new settings.Upon entering the installers menu (previous directions), key in “2+5+5”and then press the “Menu” Button. (Caution: If you key in “2+5+5” and then the “Enter” Button, nothing will happen.) Whenyou enter“2+5+5+Menu”, the Installer Menu is cleared from the screenand you will see your channels flash as the TV scrolls through all the settings and then storesthem.

STEP 8. ADDING CUSTOM CHANNEL LOGOS

You canadd custom channel logosfor analog channelsif youcouldnotfind the appropriate logo for a channelwithin the regular setupmenu.Uponentering the installers menu, press“2+5+4”and then the “Menu”Button.Use the Channel Up/Down button to locate desired channel and presstheRight Arrow Button. You will see an “I” (Icon) placed on theChannelIndicator.By pressing the RightArrow Button, the “I” changesto a “1”, so you can create seven-character length custom logos. Usethe Up/down toselectthedesired alphanumeric character. By pressing the Right Arrow Button, the “1” changes to “2”. Use the Up/Down Arrows to selectthe desiredcharacter. You can even create a message on a selected channel like“Welcome”.

STEP 9. CHANNEL OVERRIDE

If you want to keep your patients from directly accessing channels not in yourchannel lineup youcannowenter theinstallersmenu andgo to “Channel Override” (Item 28). Set this item to “0”.

Followthe directions in your cloner boxto clone multiple TV’s from the “Master” setup TV.
