Battery Cautionary Instructions

To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons, read and follow these instructions :

1. For the cordless handset, use only the type and size of batteries specified in the users manual -

2. Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for

your digital key telephone. With a range of 100 to 200 feet and a talk time of 4 hours, It
provides mobility not available with a wired telephone. Talk the Wanderer to a nearby office,
meeting, a conference room or to check inventory…you will still be available through your
extension!

DIGITAL SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY

The Wanderer features digital Spread Spectrum Technology (DSST) which virtually eliminates Noise
and other interference while greatly increasing operating range. DSST uniformly spreads the Signal
over one of 40 independent frequency ranges, or channels, for maximum range and clarity. The
charging base and Handset share a pre-ass igned digital code which interfering signals do not have,
so any Noise gets filtered out and t he user enjoys reliable, crystal-clear sound quality.

SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES

Smart Channel Hopping - During operation, the Wanderer constantly monitors the transmission For

interference. If interference is detected, the phone automatically scans for and hops to the next clear
channel. This hopping is instant and does not interrupt normal conversation.

The Wanderer uses a digital coding security system to prevent unauthorized use of your telephone
line by other cordless phones nearby. The Wanderer has 2^24 million possible security code
combinations, which is randomly generated every eight times the TALK button is pressed or Handset
is picked up from the Charging base.

40 Independe n t Channel

Unlike other cordless phones reputed to have hundreds of channels(which is deceiving due to channel
overlapping),the Wanderer features true 40 independent channels. Overlapping channels may increase the
number of channel, but interference also occurs in multiple channels because of channel overlapping. On the
contrary, the Wanderer's 40 independent channels exclusively keep their own space, allowing the auto scan
feature to find the clearest channel before it goes to TALK mode.

Hardware Installations

1. Desktop installation

- Unplug the cable from your existing wired telephone. Plug this cable into the charging base
jack labeled KSU

- Plug the modular cable supplied with your new wanderer into the charging base jack labeled

KTU. Plug the other end of this cable into your existing wired telephone
NOTE : use only the modular cable supplied with your wanderer to connect the charging

2. Locating the Charging Base

It is essential to th e overall range and performance that the charging base and Handset can receive and
transmit good radio signals.
Place the charging base close to : A telephone network socket
A main power socket
The best location is in an upstairs room and central to the area to be covered. If you experience poor range, thy
re-sitting the charging base.



Do not locate in : direct sunlight, damp or high humidity locations.

Do not locate close to : electrical equipment such as TV’s, Computers, fridges, etc ., or close to
Radiators, metal pipes or windows frames.

3. How to install the Ni-MH Battery

- Remove the battery compartment cover of the Handset by sliding it down.

- Connect the battery plug along slot into the Handset's battery connector

- Insert the Ni-MH battery pack into the battery compartment.

- Replace the battery compartment cover b y sliding it up towards the Handset.

- Turn the switch on the bottom of the wanderer to the ON position and place the handset in

Using Your New Wanderer

Answering Incoming Calls

When your wanderer rings, the LCD indicates Ringing.

1. if the handset is in the charging base and ringing, simply remove it to answer the call. You do not
need press ON/OFF or If you are carrying the handset, press ON/OFF to answer the

incoming call.

NOTE : the wired telephone may ring 1-2 times before the wanderer rings. This in normal operation.

Placing outgoing calls

Intercom calls :

1. remove the wanderer from the charging base and press ON/OFF to access intercom dial tone.

A conference call supporting up to 8 parties can be initiated from the Wanderer :

Ringing

The audible ring signal on the Wanderer can identify the type of incoming call as internal or external

Condition :

The telephone associated with the wanderer may ring 1 or 2 times before the wanderer rings.

This is considered normal operation.

A screened transfer call rings as an internal call until the supervising party hangs up, at

which time it changes to an external signal.

Redial

To redial an outside call, perform the following step :

Pager Call

The pager call button is located on the charging base and is used to locate the wanderer handset.

Condition :

1. Press SPEED + #.

NOTE : for added security, only # is displayed on the LCD

1. Press PAGER CALL on the charging base. The base sends a stuttered tone burst to the handset for
30 seconds, and the LCD on the handset indicates Paging C a l l.

2. Press ON/OFF on the handset to stop the ringing.

If you had a power failure or had unplugged the charging base, replace the

Handset on the charging base for two to fives seconds to reset the system.

they are not registered together, the handset cannot connect to the phone line

to dial out. See the instruction on page 5, “Initialize the handset to the charger
base”.

You may be out of normal operating range. Move closer to the charging base.

▶

Switch channel to a clear channel.

▶

Do not use this phone within 20 feet of a working microwave. Microwaves

produce frequencies in this range which may cause interference. This
interference in normal for all 2.4GHz phone and should not be considered a
product defect.

Check the Ni-MH battery pack connection inside the battery compartment on

the Handset.

▶

Check the power plug of charging base.

▶

Contact tour system administrators to confirm the conference feature is enabled.

There are several reasons why the wanderer may have stopped ringing.

The handset may be out of range turned OFF

▶

Check the H-T-P setting on the wired telephone for hands-free mode. The

telephone must be in tone mode for the wanderer to ring.

▶

If distinctive ringing on the wired telephone is set to Type 36(no ring), Wanderer

LCD displays ringing, but no ton is heard
