Dear Lexus Owner,
Thank you for having purchased your new Lexus ES300.
Lexus is dedicated to providing vehicles of outstanding quality and value. As part of our
constant efforts to provide the best in customer satisfaction, we have decided to
introduce a Safety Recall Campaign involving your vehicle.
On certain Lexus ES300’s, it is possible that during airbag deployment, the bottom seam
of the driver’s side airbag module cover which retains the cover on the module (horn
pad) after deployment may be torn away, allowing the cover to completely detach from
the air bag module. If this occurs, there is a possibility that the detached cover may strike
the driver and may cause personal injury.
Our records indicate that your vehicle was manufactured within the production range of
suspect airbags, and accordingly, Lexus would like to replace the driver’s side airbag
with a new level airbag, at NO COST to you.
Accordingly, would you kindly contact your Lexus dealer as soon as possible to schedule
an appointment to have the airbag replacement carried out.
The labour time to replace the airbag module is approximately 30 minutes. However,
depending upon the dealer’s work schedule, it may be necessary to make your vehicle
available for a longer period of time.
Please present this notice to the dealer when you take the vehicle in for your
appointment.
