printer to avoid printing problems. For detailed information about media characteristics, refer

For printing text and typical business graphics, you may find 75 g/m
laser printers or photocopiers produces ac c eptable pr int quality. Always try a sa m ple of any
paper before buy ing large quantities.
Before loading paper, note the recommended print side identified on the paper package.
Load paper with the recommended print side face down in the paper trays. For paper loading

The following are not recommended for your printer:
•Paper with a large co t to n c ontent
•Paper with a roug h or heavily textured su rface
•Coated papers, such as erasable bond
•Preprinted papers manufactured with chemicals that may contaminate the printer
•Paper designed for inkjet prin te rs
•Def ormed or damaged pape r
•Paper that is wet or has absorbed moistu re
•Paper that is punc hed, embos s ed, or perforated
•Multiple- part form s
•Synthetic papers
•Therm al papers
•Recycled paper having a weight less than 75 g/m
Preprinted papers such as letterhead must be able to withstand temperatures up to 175°C
(347°F) w it hout melting or releasing haz ardous emissions. Use inks that are not affected by
the resin in toner or the silicone in the fuser. Inks that are oxidation-set or oil-based should
meet thes e requirem ent s. Latex inks may melt.

You can load up to 10 envelopes in the multipurpose feeder. Load envelopes flap side down
with the stamp area on the right. The end of the envelope with the return address area enters
the multipurpos e feed er last. Do not lo ad stampe d envelo pes . B efore loading envelopes, fan
the stack to prevent them f rom sticking together. For envelope loading ins t ructions, s ee

To ensure the best print quality, set Paper Type to Envelope and select the correct envelope
size before sending the job to print.
When printing on envelope s :
•Try a sample of any envelop es before buying large quantit i es .
•Use envelopes made from 90 to 105 g/m

Note: Load card stock in t he multipurpose feeder a nd heavy media tray only. Do
not load more than 50 sheets of card stock into the multipurpose feeder.
Loading m ore than 50 sheets of card s t ock or using the w rong paper
source may cause paper jams or a failure to feed.
You can load 250 sheets of card stock in the heavy media tray. The properties of the card
stock you choose— s uc h as the orientati on of the paper fi bers, moi s ture content, thickness,
and texture—c an affect the pr int quality.
For optimum results, we recomm end using Springhill I ndex Plus 90 lb card stock.
Card stock must be able to withst and temperat ures up to 175°C (347° F ) w it hout melting or
releasing hazardous emissions.

Always set the Paper Type to Card St ock w hen print ing on heavier pa per. The printer then
