Lexicon RV-8 Mk2 Brochure

The RV-8 version 2 (v2) upgrade consists of enhanced functionality including Lexicon LIVE™, automatic calibration of levels and distances, improved Logic 7
®
processing for 5.1 and 6.1 sources, Dolby Pro-Logic IIx®, Radio Data System (RDS) decoding, improved power management, digital format detect adjustment and the option to send low frequencies to full-range speakers and subwoofers simultaneously.
Lexicon LIVE
Lexicon LIVE is a unique system that can transform any listening room into an exceptional and pleasurable acoustic space. It uses a combination of microphones, digital signal processing, and your speakers to enhance the room’s acoustics and create the illusion of a much different space.
Three customizable presets can be selected for a pleasing environment in which to practice or perform with a musical instrument. For example, playing a guitar or saxophone in a living room with Lexicon LIVE will sound like playing in a real concert hall. Or, use Lexicon LIVE to change the acoustics of the room when entertaining guests. Even a home theater which has been acoustically deadened with room treatments can be instantly transformed into a concert hall. Lexicon LIVE requires two optional Lexicon microphones to be positioned in the listening room.
Automatic Calibration of Levels and Distances
Using the optional microphone kit, v2 allows the RV-8 to automatically set speaker distances and output levels.
Improved Logic 7 for 5.1 and 6.1 sources
Logic 7 for multi-channel Dolby Digital, DTS, and 5.1 analog sources now offers new playback improvements. For the first time, poorly mixed multi-channel music and film sources can be corrected during playback. With Logic 7, multi-channel recordings with little or no center channel output will no longer sound deficient. Logic 7 stabilizes the center image and improves the front soundstage.
Dolby Pro Logic IIx
Film and music versions of Dolby Pro Logic IIx have been added for both 2-channel and multi-channel sources.
Full + Sub
This feature adds a new crossover setting that allows the subwoofer(s) to remain active in addition to full range output from one or more other speakers. This provides the listener with the option of reproducing bass in accordance with industry standards or, at their discretion, sending the same bass information to full-range speakers and the subwoofer(s) simultaneously.

Maximum Volume
In the volume controls section of the menu, the option of selecting a maximum volume setting has been added to prevent the RV-8 from being increased beyond that value.
Radio Data System
RDS allows the user to view the text that is sent by a station transmitting information encoded in this format. Many stations use it to transmit station call letters and information about the current track (artist name, song title and so forth).
Power Management
The user has the option of setting the level of power sensitivity for the RV-8. When enabled (default) the unit will turn off when it detects possibly damaging power swings. When disabled, the unit will not turn off during detected power swings and will continue regular operation. This option may be used when connecting the RV-8 to third-party power management devices.
Digital Format Detect
This feature provides the ability to select a faster mute time when the RV-8 detects inconsistent digital signals. In the “Normal” mode the RV-8 will not mute when a pause in the digital stream is detected. When set to “Fast” the RV-8 will mute the digital input for 2ms under similar conditions. This may prevent popping noises and other sounds when switching between digital sources or when the digital stream is briefly interrupted during events such as changing the channel on a cable box.
