•Iftherackcabinetyouarerelocatingispartofasuiteofrackcabinets,detachtherackcabinet
fromthesuite.
•Iftherackcabinetyouarerelocatingwassuppliedwithremovableoutriggerstheymustbe
reinstalledbeforethecabinetisrelocated.
•Inspecttheroutethatyouplantotaketoeliminatepotentialhazards.
•Verifythattheroutethatyouchoosecansupporttheweightoftheloadedrackcabinet.Referto
thedocumentationthatcomeswithyourrackcabinetfortheweightofaloadedrackcabinet.
•Verifythatalldooropeningsareatleast760x230mm(30x80in.).
•Ensurethatalldevices,shelves,drawers,doors,andcablesaresecure.
•Ensurethatthefourlevelingpadsareraisedtotheirhighestposition.
•Ensurethatthereisnostabilizerbracketinstalledontherackcabinetduringmovement.
•Donotusearampinclinedatmorethan10degrees.
•Whentherackcabinetisinthenewlocation,completethefollowingsteps:
–Lowerthefourlevelingpads.
–Installstabilizerbracketsontherackcabinet.
–Ifyouremovedanydevicesfromtherackcabinet,repopulatetherackcabinetfromthelowest
positiontothehighestposition.
•Ifalong-distancerelocationisrequired,restoretherackcabinettotheconfigurationoftherack
cabinetasyoureceivedit.Packtherackcabinetintheoriginalpackagingmaterial,orequivalent.
Alsolowerthelevelingpadstoraisethecastersoffthepalletandbolttherackcabinettothepallet.
CAUTION:
•Rackisnotintendedtoserveasanenclosureanddoesnotprovideanydegreesofprotection
requiredofenclosures.
•Itisintendedthatequipmentinstalledwithinthisrackwillhaveitsownenclosure.

Tightenthestabilizerbracketsuntiltheyareflushagainsttherack.

powercord.DonotusetheLenovoprovidedpowercordforanyotherproduct.
•Donotopenorserviceanypowersupplyassembly.
•Donotconnectordisconnectanycablesorperforminstallation,maintenance,orreconfiguration
ofthisproductduringanelectricalstorm.
•Theproductmightbeequippedwithmultiplepowercords.T oremoveallhazardousvoltages,
disconnectallpowercords.
•Connectallpowercordstoaproperlywiredandgroundedelectricaloutlet.Ensurethatthe
outletsuppliespropervoltageandphaserotationaccordingtothesystemratingplate.
•Connectanyequipmentthatwillbeattachedtothisproducttoproperlywiredoutlets.
•Whenpossible,useonehandonlytoconnectordisconnectsignalcables.
•Neverturnonanyequipmentwhenthereisevidenceoffire,water,orstructuraldamage.
•Disconnecttheattachedpowercords,telecommunicationssystems,networks,andmodems
beforeyouopenthedevicecovers,unlessinstructedotherwiseintheinstallationand

•Connectanddisconnectcablesasdescribedinthefollowingprocedureswheninstalling,

4.Attachthepowercordstotheoutlets.

•Sharpedges,cornersandjointsmightbepresentinandaroundthesystem.Usecarewhen
handlingequipmenttoavoidcuts,scrapesandpinching.

•Eachrackcabinetmighthavemorethanonepowercord.Besuretodisconnectallpowercords
intherackcabinetwhendirectedtodisconnectpowerduringservicing.
•Connectalldevicesinstalledinarackcabinettopowerdevicesinstalledinthesamerack
cabinet.Donotplugapowercordfromadeviceinstalledinonerackcabinetintoapower
deviceinstalledinadifferentrackcabinet.
•Anelectricaloutletthatisnotcorrectlywiredcouldplacehazardousvoltageonthemetalparts
ofthesystemorthedevicesthatattachtothesystem.Itistheresponsibilityofthecustomerto
ensurethattheoutletiscorrectlywiredandgroundedtopreventanelectricalshock.

3.Useaslowliftingforce.Nevermovesuddenlyortwistwhenyouattempttolift.
4.Liftbystandingorbypushingupwithyourlegmuscles;thisactionremovesthestrainfromthe
musclesinyourback.Donotattempttoliftanyobjectsthatweighmorethan18kg(40lb)orobjects
thatyouthinkaretooheavyforyou.
•Donotperformanyactionthatcausesahazardormakestheequipmentunsafe.
•Beforeyoustartthedevice,ensurethatservicerepresentativesandotherpersonnelarenotina
hazardousposition.
•Placeremovedcoversandotherpartsinasafeplace,awayfromallpersonnel,whileyouareservicing
theunit.
•Keepyourtoolcaseawayfromwalkareassothatotherpeoplecannottripoverit.
•Donotwearlooseclothingthatcanbetrappedinthemovingpartsofadevice.Ensurethatyoursleeves
arefastenedorrolledupaboveyourelbows.Ifyourhairislong,fastenit.
•Inserttheendsofyournecktieorscarfinsideclothingorfastenitwithanonconductingclip,approximately
8cm(3in.)fromtheend.
•Donotwearjewelry,chains,metal-frameeyeglasses,ormetalfastenersforyourclothing.
Note: Metalobjectsaregoodelectricalconductors.
•Wearsafetyglasseswhenyouarehammering,drilling,soldering,cuttingwire,attachingsprings,using
solvents,orworkinginanyotherconditionsthatmightbehazardoustoyoureyes.
•Afterservice,reinstallallsafetyshields,guards,labels,andgroundwires.Replaceanysafetydevice
thatiswornordefective.
•Reinstallallcoverscorrectlyafteryouhavefinishedservicingtheunit.
Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices
Ensurethatyouunderstandhowtohandledevicesthataresensitivetostaticelectricity.
Attention: Staticelectricitycandamageelectronicdevicesandyoursystem.Toavoiddamage,keep
static-sensitivedevicesintheirstatic-protectivebagsuntilyouarereadytoinstallthem.
Toreducethepossibilityofelectrostaticdischarge,observethefollowingprecautions:
•Limityourmovement.Movementcancausestaticelectricitytobuilduparoundyou.
•Handlethedevicecarefully,holdingitbyitsedgesorframe.
•Donottouchsolderjoints,pins,orexposedprintedcircuitry.
•Donotleavethedevicewhereotherscanhandleandpossiblydamagethedevice.
•Whilethedeviceisstillinitsantistaticbag,touchittoanunpaintedmetalpartofthesystemunitforat
leasttwoseconds.(Thisactionremovesstaticelectricityfromthepackageandfromyourbody.)
•RemovethedevicefromitspackageandinstallitdirectlyintoyourLenovoStorageV7000system,
withoutputtingitdown.Ifitisnecessarytoputthedevicedown,placeitontoitsstatic-protectivebag.(If
yourdeviceisanadapter,placeitcomponent-sideup.)Donotplacethedeviceontothecoverofthe
LenovoStorageV7000systemorontoametaltable.
•T akeadditionalcarewhenyouhandledevicesduringcoldweather.Indoorhumiditytendstodecreasein
