Gebrauchsanweisung
Konsequente Anwendung von LENCO-CLEAN «L» garantiert eine mit keiner anderen Methode erzielbare Geräusch- und Verzerrungsfreiheit der Schallplattenwiedergabe, praktisch unbegrenzte Lebensdauer der Platten und eine Herabsetzung des Verschleisses der Tonabnehmernadel um etwa 50 %.
LENCOCLEAN «L» ist gewichtsentlastet und vermindert daher — auch bei Plattenspielern mit geringer Reserve der Antriebskraft — die Drehzahl des Plattentellers nur ganz geringfügig.
Durch mechanische Reinigung der Platte unmittelbar vor der Nadel des Tonabnehmers bei gleichzeitiger Befeuchtung mit einer schnell verdunstenden, chemisch neutralen, keinerlei Rückstände hinterlassenden Flüssigkeit werden folgende Vorteile erreicht:
- Der auf der Oberfläche der Platte vorhandene fasrige Staub wird während des Abspielens entfernt, bevor ihn die Tonabnehmernadel erreicht.
- Der in den Rillen der Platte lagernde körnige Staub wird in der Benetzungsflüssigkeit SUPER TONIC gelöst, beziehungsweise suspendiert, und damit für die Geräuschbildung unschädlich gemacht.
- Jede elektrostatische Aufladung der Platte wird mit Sicherheit beseitigt.
- Durch Verminderung der Reibung zwischen Nadel und Tonrille unter gleichzeitiger Kühlung der Berührungsstellen werden Beschädigungen der Tonschrift vermieden, die Abtastverzer-
rungen herabgesetzt und der Nadelverschleiss um mindestens 50 % vermindert.
- Das lästige Reinigen der Tonabnehmernadel kommt fast vollständig in Fortfall.
- Die Skating-Kraft wird reduziert.
- Das Fehlen antistatisch wirkender chemischer Substanzen in der Benetzungsflüssigkeit verhindert die Bildung harter Ablagerungen in den Tonrillen und an der Tonabnehmernadel.
MONTAGE
Zuerst wird der Standort der Vorrichtung gewählt, der vorzugsweise in der Nähe der linken, hinteren Ecke der Plattenspieler-Montageplatte liegen soll. Der vorgesehene Montagebereich wird zuerst mit einem mit Spiritus getränkten Wattebausch gereinigt. Durch Abziehen der Schutzfolie wird die Klebeschicht des Fusses A freigelegt, Sodann wird der Fuss A in einem Abstand von etwa 170 bis 185 mm von der Plattentellermitte in dem gewählten Montagebereich ganz leicht aufgesetzt. Er haftet nun ausreichend, um die einwandfreie Funktion des LENCO-CLEAN «L» überprüfen zu können. Dies geschieht nach Auflegen einer Platte und Einschalten des Plattenspielers durch Aufsetzen des vorher betriebsbereit gemachten LENCOCLEAN «L» an verschiedenen Stellen der Platte.
Die Vorbereitung des LENCOCLEAN «L» für die Inbetriebsetzung ist im Abschnitt «Bedienung» ausführlich beschrieben.
Sowohl am Anfang als auch am Ende der Platte muss das LENCOCLEAN «L» unter Hinterlassung eines schwach angefeuchteten Streifens einwandfrei von den Rillen der Platte nach innen geführt werden. Treten an irgendeiner Stelle der Platte Schwierigkeiten bei der Führung des LENCOCLEAN «L» auf, so ist der Fuss A vorsichtig von der Montageplatte des Plattenspielers abzulösen und versuchsweise zuerst in einem kleineren Abstand vom Plattentellermittelpunkt erneut auf-
zusetzen. Ergibt eine erneute Prüfung, dass die Führung noch immer nicht einwandfrei ist, so muss ein in der Gegenrichtung verschobener Standort erprobt werden. Erst wenn die Vorrichtung im Bereiche der ganzen Platte einwandfrei arbeitet, wird der Fuss A durch Anpressen an die Montageplatte endgültig fixiert.
BEDIENUNG
Nach Abnehmen des Kopfstückes vom Tankrohr wird dieses aus der beigegebenen Elasche bis etwa zu drei Viertel seiner Länge mit der Benetzungsflüssigkeit SUPER TONIC gefüllt und danach - unter Beachtung der Markierungen das Kopfstück wieder aufgesetzt. Bei schräg nach unten gehaltener Bürste wird durch Abstreichen an einem der beiliegenden Papiertaschentücher die Flüssigkeit zum Ausfliessen durch die Bürste gebracht und eventuell an der Bürste haftender Staub entfernt. Mit dem am Bürsteneinsatz angebrachten kleinen Hebel lässt sich die Flüssigkeitsabgabe in weiten Grenzen verändern. Verschieben des Hebels in Richtung des Zeichens «+» verstärkt die Flüssigkeitsabgabe: Verschieben in Richtung des Zeichens «----» verringert die Menge der ausfliessenden Flüssigkeit. Der Flüssigkeitsaustritt ist so einzuregulieren, dass die Platte nur ganz leicht angefeuchtet wird.
Nach Auflegen einer Schallplatte auf den Plattenteller wird das LENCOCLEAN «L» auf die Führungsstange gesetzt und seine Reinigungsbürste auf den Rand der Platte aufgelegt. Durch entsprechendes Einschrauben der Führungsachse C in die Gewindehülse A wird die Höhe des Tanks so eingestellt, dass das Tankrohr leicht nach vorne geneigt steht. Hierauf wird
die Rändelmutter B bis zur Gewindehülse A heruntergeschraubt und angezogen, so dass sich die Führungsachse nicht mehr lösen kann.
Während des Abspielvorganges führt die Bürste die Vorrichtung vor dem Tonabnehmer her über die Schallplatte und hinterlässt dabei einen Feuchtigkeitsstreifen, in dem die Nadel des Tonabnehmers läuft. Die Bürste entfernt alle Staubfasern von der Oberfläche der Platte, während der körnige Staub in der Benetzungsflüssigkeit SUPER TONIC gelöst bzw. suspendiert und hierdurch für die Geräuschbildung unschädlich gemacht wird.
Eine Füllung des Tankes ist ausreichend für das Abspielen von 15 bis 20 Seiten von 30-cm-Schallplatten.
Der nach Beendigung des Abspielvorganges im Inneren der Schallplatte verbleibende schmale Feuchtigkeitsstreifen ist bei umlaufender Platte mit der Kante eines gefalteten und nochmals geknickten Papiertaschentuches zu entfernen, das nach mehrmaligem Gebrauch weggeworfen wird.
Achten Sie bitte darauf, dass die Schallplatten nur in absolut trockenem Zustand in die Plattenhülle zurückgelegt werden! Nach Abspielen der Platten wird das ten, damit die im Tankrohr befindliche LENCOCLEAN «L» von der Führungsstange abgehoben und kurz senkrecht gehal-Flüssigkeit wieder in den Tank zurückfliesst Hierauf ist das LENCOCLEAN «L» schräg nach hinten geneigt auf die Führungsstange aufzulegen, wo es bis zur nächsten Verwendung verbleibt.
Achtung: Das gefüllte LENCOCLEAN «L» darf nicht flach liegend aufbewahrt werden!

HINWEISE ZUR ALLGEMEINEN PLATTENPFLEGE
Grundregeln
1. Schneiden Sie die inneren Plattenhüllen an einer zusätzlichen, der Öffnung benachbarten Seite auf.
Die Hülle lässt sich nun aufklappen, so dass die Platte ohne Entstehung einer wesentlichen Reibung herausgenommen werden kann. Elektrostatische Aufladungen der Platte und die hierdurch bedingte Staubanziehung werden wesentlich vermindert.
2. Vermeiden Sie jedes Berühren der Plattenrillen mit den Händen.
Halten Sie die Platte auf der ausgestreckten Hand, Handfläche nach oben, Daumen am Plattenrand, die Spitzen der übrigen Finger unter dem Etikett. Am Rande vom Daumen gestützt, nimmt man die Platte aus der Hülle. Letztere wird beiseite gelegt, die Platte nun zwischen beiden Handflächen gehalten und auf den Plattenteller aufgelegt.
3. Spielen Sie Ihre Platten nur bei geschlossener Staubschutzhaube ab.
Bei offenem Plattenspieler wäre die Platte während etwa einer halben Stunde der Staubablagerung ausgesetzt, verstärkt durch elektrostatische Aufladungen während des Abspielens.
4. Legen Sie die Platte sofort nach Gebrauch in die Schutzhülle zurück.
Auf jeder offen herumliegenden Platte sammelt sich sofort Staub. Das Zurücklegen der Platte in die Hülle erfolgt analog dem unter 2. beschriebenen Vorgehen.
5. Schützen Sie Ihre Platten vor Aerosolen.
Zu den in Frage kommenden Aerosolen gehören Tabakrauch, alle Arten von Haushaltsprays, sogenannte Luftreiniger, aber auch der von warmen Speisen aufsteigende, mit Fett-Tröpfchen beladene Wasserdampf.
6. Reinigen Sie Ihren Plattenteller von Zeit zu Zeit mit einem feuchten Lappen.
Auf jedem Plattenteller sammelt sich mit der Zeit Staub an. Beim Auflegen einer Platte wird dieser von der Plattenrückseite angezogen und beeinträchtigt später deren Wiedergabe.
DIE REINIGUNG VERSCHMUTZTER PLATTEN
Schallplatten, die während längerer Zeit mit Antistatikmitteln (Plattenspray, Plattentücher, Antistatik-Flüssigkeit für Plattenbesen) behandelt worden sind, enthalten in ihren Rillen eine Mischung aus Staub und chemischen Substanzen. Diese lagert sich sowohl auf der Tonschrift als auch beim Abspielen an der Tonabnehmernadel an, verhärtet mit der Zeit und stört sodann den Abtastvorgang empfindlich, d. h. es entstehen starke Nebengeräusche sowie Verzerrungen in der Wiedergabe.
Bei derartigen Platten empfiehlt sich eine sogenannte «Plattenwäsche». Vor allem aber sollten solche Platten nicht ohne weiteres mit LENCOCLEAN abgespielt werden, da die Verunreinigungen durch die Benetzungsflüssigkeit SUPER TONIC aufgelöst und in den Rillen anders verteilt werden, so dass das vorhandene Übel unter Umständen noch weiter verschlimmert wird.
das frühere Abspielen keinen Schaden erlitten haben, sondern nur verschmutzt sind, können sie auf diese Weise beinahe wieder in den Neuzustand zurückversetzt werden. Neue oder in der oben beschriebenen Weise gereinigte Platten, bei denen die Grundregeln der Schallplattenpflege sorgfältig beachtet und die konsequent mit LENCOCLEAN «L» gepflegt wurden, zeigen auch nach Hunderten von Abspielvorgängen kaum eine Erhöhung des Grundgeräusches und keinerlei Verschlechterung der Wiedergabequalität.
Façon de procéder
Aucune autre méthode que l'utilisation du système LENCOCLEAN «L» ne peut vous garantir une reproduction de vos disques exempte de bruits de surface, une absence de distorsion, une augmentation substantielle de la longévité de vos précieux enregistrements ainsi que de l'aiguille lectrice (environ 50 %).
L'appareil dispensateur du fluide dans le LENCOCLEAN «L» est muni d'un contrepoids ce qui réduit la force d'application de celui-ci sur le disque et n'affecte en rien la régularité de rotation du plateau, même dans le cas d'un tournedisque sans réserve de puissance.
Le nettoyage mécanique du disque, immédiatement avant le passage de l'aiguille lectrice, en même temps que le dépôt du fluide chimiquement neutre à évaporation rapide et ne laissant aucun dépôt, procure les avantages suivants:
- La poussière se trouvant à la surface du disque est enlevée durant le processus de lecture, avant que l'aiguille ne passe dans le sillon.
- Les particules solides qui encombrent le fond du sillon sont détachées des flancs de celui-ci par l'action du SU-PER TONIC dans lequel elles sont désormais en suspension et ne peuvent plus être la cause de craquements et d'autres bruits parasites.
- Toute charge électrostatique est évitée.
- La réduction de la friction entre l'aiguille et les flancs du sillon ainsi que le refroidissement des points de contact entre ces deux éléments provo-
quent un effet bénéfique sur les causes d'usure prématurée des sinuosités inscrites dans la matière. La distorsion aussi est réduite dans de notables proportions et la longévité de l'aiguille prolongée d'au moins 50 %.
- Le fastidieux nettoyage de l'aiguille est à peu près complètement supprimé.
- L'absence de substances collantes que l'on trouve dans les produits antistatiques classiques empêche la formation de dépôts poisseux dans le sillon ainsi que sur la pointe de l'aiguille lectrice.
MONTAGE
Tout d'abord, il faudra choisir l'emplacement du dispositif qui devra se trouver dans l'angle supérieur gauche de la plaque de montage du tourne-disque. Ensuite on nettoie, à l'aide d'un tampon d'ouate imbibé d'alcool, l'emplacement approximatif du support qui sera déterminé comme indiqué plus loin (effectuer ce nettoyage sur une surface largement plus grande que le pied du support). Enlever alors la feuille de protection de la surface auto-collante de la base A. Placer ensuite celle-ci à une distance d'environ 170 à 185 mm du centre du plateau, en la déposant sur la platine sans appuver, elle adhérera ainsi suffisamment pour vous permettre d'effectuer vos essais et être cependant déplacée s'il y a lieu. Placer maintenant un disque sur le plateau et mettre le tourne-disque en marche. Le bras dispensateur de fluide SUPER TO-NIC étant monté sur l'axe support, sera placé à différents endroits sur le disque.
plateau. On procédera ensuite à un nouvel essai et si celui-ci n'était pas concluant on déplacera le pied, cette fois vers l'arrière au-delà du point qu'il occupait lors du premier essai. Dès que le résultat recherché aura été obtenu on pourra fixer définitivement le pied A en appuyant sa base fermement sur la plaque de montage.
La préparation du système LENCOCLEAN «L» pour sa mise en service est décrite au paragraphe «Manœuvres». Le bras débiteur de fluide devra laisser derrière lui une trace légèrement mouillée irréprochable, depuis le début jusqu'à la fin de son passage sur la surface du disque. S'il est difficile d'obtenir le résultat requis, il faut modifier le trajet de la brosse. On déplacera donc le pied A en le rapprochant légèrement du centre du
MANOEUVRES A EFFECTUER
Après avoir retiré l'embout muni d'une petite brosse ronde située à l'extrémité du bras tubulaire transparent, on remplira ce dernier jusqu'aux trois quarts de sa longueur de fluide SUPER TONIC joint à l'ensemble et, en observant bien les repères, on remettra ensuite le support de la brosse en place. Pencher ensuite légèrement le tube vers l'avant, de manière à bien humidifier la brosse, et après redressement du tube, enlever, au moyen d'un mouchoir en papier fourni, l'excédent d'eau se trouvant dans la brosse ainsi que la poussière qu'elle pourrait retenir.
La petite manette, située immédiatement à côté de la brosse, sert à doser le débit du fluide. lorsque le bras réservoir repose sur le disque. En déplaçant celleci dans la direction du «+» le débit augmente; il diminue si le déplacement a lieu dans la direction «---». Le réglage est correct lorsqu'il n'est déposé au'une trace régulière légèrement humide sur le disque. Après avoir déposé un disque sur le plateau on placera le bras réservoir du LENCOCLEAN «L» sur l'axe support. La hauteur du bras sera déterminée par le réglage en hauteur de l'axe C que l'on vissera ou dévissera, selon le cas, pour que le tube penche un peu en avant et que la brosse soit en contact léger avec le disque. On bloquera ensuite l'axe à l'aide de l'écrou moleté B, en vissant ce dernier contre la buselure A. Durant le processus de lecture, la brosse dont les poils seront entraînés par le sillonnage du disque, déposera une trace humide immédiatement en avant de l'aiquille lectrice et dans laquelle baignera cette dernière. La petite brosse enlève en outre les peluches et poussières présentes à
la surface du disque, tandis que, comme il a été dit précédemment, les particules dures adhérant au sillon seront libérées et maintenues en suspension dans le fluide.
Un remplissage du tube est suffisant pour 15 à 30 faces de disques de 30 cm. Lorsqu'une face aura été «jouée», avant de retourner le disque pour en écouter l'autre côté, on enlèvera l'excédent d'humidité à l'aide d'un des mouchoirs en papier fournis, plié en quatre, qui pourra d'ailleurs être utilisé plusieurs fois avant d'être jeté!
Lorsqu'il s'agira d'un disque que l'on devra remettre dans sa pochette, il faudra veiller, qu'il soit parfaitement sec!
Lorsque la séance d'audition sera terminée on enlèvera le bras réservoir de son support, on le tiendra ensuite quelques instants verticalement afin de permettre au fluide de regagner le réservoir. On pourra alors remettre le bras sur son axe où il prendra de lui-même la position relevée en vertu du déséquilibre qui a lieu maintenant dans l'autre sens et pourra rester tel qu'il est jusqu'à la prochaine audition.
Attention: Il est important d'éviter de garder le système LENCOCLEAN «L» dans la position horizontale! Des petites brosses de rechange peuvent être obtenues séparément sous le numéro 075 0027.
LE SUPER TONIC LENCOCLEAN
Absence d'agent anti-statique, produit mouillant de grande pureté à taux d'évaporation élevé. L'utilisation du SUPER TONIC LENCOCLEAN réduit d'au moins 50 % l'usure des aiguilles lectrices et maintient les disques dans un état de
propreté qu'aucun autre moyen de nettoyage et d'entretien peut garantir. Les disques ayant été «joués» sous traitement LENCOCLEAN SUPER TONIC peuvent, sans accroissement notable du bruit de fond, être joués à sec par après, pour autant que les règles fondamentales soient observées concernant leur entretien et qu'il ne soit jamais fait usage de produits anti-statiques quelconques. REGLES A SUIVRE POUR L'ENTRETIEN DES DISQUES
Règles de base
1. Fendez la pochette intérieure le long d'un des côtés adjacent à l'ouverture.
La pochette pourra maintenant être ouverte largement et le disque pourra en être retiré sans frottement contre les parois de la pochette. Cette disposition évite la formation d'une charge électrostatique et réduit, de ce fait, l'attraction de poussières à la surface du disque.
2. Evitez de toucher les sillons du disque avec les doigts.
Tenez la pochette de la main gauche, tandis que la main droite, paume en-dessus, est introduite dans l'étui jusqu'à ce que le bout des doigts atteigne l'étiquette. Le pouce étant appuyé sur le bord du disque, celui-ci pourra maintenant être retiré. Le saisir ensuite des deux mains, par l'extérieur et le déposer sur le plateau.
3. Ne jouez vos disques qu'avec le couvercle du tourne-disque fermé.
En effet, si vous ne prenez pas cette précaution, au bout d'une demi-heure environ, une légère couche de poussière se sera déjà formée à la surface du disque.
4. Immédiatement après avoir joué un disque, remettez-le dans sa pochette.
La poussière se déposant rapidement sur tout disque, exposé à l'air libre, il faut le protéger de celle-ci et le remettre immédiatement à l'abri en procédant, à l'envers, comme indiqué en «2».
5. Protégez vos disques contre les aérosols.
On entend par aérosols la fumée de tabac, toutes sortes de «sprays» domestiques, les soi-disant purificateur d'air, mais aussi les vapeurs de cuisine.
6. Nettoyez de temps en temps le plateau de votre tourne-disque au moyen d'un chiffon humide.
La poussière s'accumule à la longue sur le plateau. Si l'on y dépose un disque, celui-ci attire immanquablement cette dernière provoquant les conséquences que les conseils donnés ici tentent d'éviter.
Nettoyage des disques encrassés
Les disques avant été traités antérieurement au moven de produits anti-statiques (aérosols, chiffons imbibés, fluides de toutes sortes) contiennent, emprisonnés dans leurs sillons, un mélange de poussière et de substances chimiques collantes. Celles-ci ne se trouvent pas uniquement dans les sillons mais sont aussi accrochées à la pointe lectrice: ramassées par celle-ci au cours d'une audition. Ces substances durcissant à la longue deviennent, par la suite, la cause d'une lecture entachée de distorsion, de bruits parasites et sont aussi la cause d'une usure rapide, tant de l'aiguille que du disque.
Les disques se trouvant dans un tel état nécessitent ce que l'on peut appeler une «lessive». Avant tout ces disques ne pourront jamais être joués tels quels sous traitement au LENCOCLEAN, parce que les souillures, libérées sous l'action du fluide SUPER TONIC auront une action
encore plus dommageable. Particulièrement efficace est le nettoyage effectué par la machine spécialement construite à cet effet par la firme britannique Keith-Monks, dont on pourra avoir recours chez de nombreux disquaires pour une dépense minime.
Si toutefois vous préférez procéder vousmême à cette opération de nettovage. voici comment il faudra vous v prendre. Prenez un bassin en plastique dont le diamètre, à cinq centimètre du bord supérieur, devra correspondre à peu près à celui du disque à nettover. Remplissezle d'eau claire froide à laquelle vous ajouterez 2 à 3 traits de détergent, plongez-v le disque. Munissez-vous ensuite d'un gros tampon d'ouate et nettoyez la face accessible du disque immergé en appuyant légèrement le tampon sur celleci, tout en lui imprimant un mouvement circulaire. Retournez le disque et faites subir le même traitement à la seconde face. Les disques ainsi nettoyés seront placés dans un classeur à disques en plastique que vous installerez dans une baignoire pour leur faire subir un bon rinçage (à l'eau froide) au moyen de la pomme d'arrosoir de la douche. Rincez une seconde fois les disques avec de l'eau distillée ou déminéralisée pour les débarasser des résidues calcaires qu'aurait pu y laisser l'eau de la distribution. Essorez les ensuite entre deux essuie de cuisine propres, sans frotter, puis placezles à nouveau dans un porte-disque et mettez-les à sécher dans un endroit exempt de poussière; p. ex.: la salle de bains. Après dix minutes environ, en tous cas aussitôt qu'ils seront bien secs. remettez-les dans leur pochette. Durant tout le temps que dure le processus de nettoyage décrit ci-dessus, abstenezvous de toucher les sillons avec les
doigts! Pour autant que les disques ainsi traités ne présentent aucun défaut physique tels que coups, rayures, etc. ..., mais ne sont qu'encrassés, ils seront, après le traitement subi, remis dans l'état qu'ils présentaient à leur sortie du pressage en usine. Le traitement régulier au moyen du système LENCOCLEAN «L» leur conservera toutes leurs qualités durant des centaines d'auditions et ils pourront donc être écoutés sans dégradation de la reproduction sonore.

The fluid tank on the end of the LENCO-CLEAN «L» dispenser arm also serves as a counter-balance to reduce weight on the record surface so that the amount of inevitable speed reduction is imperceptible, even with those turntables whose drive motors have little reserve power. By simultaneous mechanical cleaning of the record just in front of the needle, and moistening of the record with a rapidly-evaporating, chemically-neutral fluid which leaves no residue, the following advantages are attained:
- Fibrous dust particles are removed from the record surface before they can come into contact with the stylus.
- Granular dust particles deposited in the record grooves are loosened by and suspended in the fluid, Super Tonic, and thereby made harmless.
- All electrostatic charging of the record is eliminated.
- By reducing friction and heat build-up at the contact points between needle and groove flanks, sound distortion is also reduced, damage to the grooves avoided, and, as mentioned, stylus wear reduced by at least 50 %.
- The necessity of cleaning the stylus is almost entirely eliminated.
- The skating force is reduced.
- Since the chemically-neutral fluid has an anti-static effect but without the use of anti-static agents, the risk of increased noise and distortion at later «dry» play is avoided. (Upon evaporation of the fluid, any anti-static chemicals present would form a sticky coating on the groove flanks to which dust would adhere and form an obstruction to the stylus when the record is played.)
MOUNTING
First, choose the placement site, preferably in the left rear corner of the turntable frame. Clean the site with alcohol to ensure adherence, peel off the protective paper from the bottom of the plastic base and press the stand very lightly into place at the chosen site about 170-185 mm (6.7 to 7.3 inches) from the center of the turntable. It will adhere well enough for a try-out of the LENCOCLEAN function, i. e., to test for correct placement. Place a record on the turntable, turn on the record player and successively place the brush end of the dispenser arm down at different places on the record. (Preparation for use is described in the «Service» section.) From the beginning - at the record edge - to the end — at record center — the LENCO-CLEAN must dispense a faintly moist stripe over the entire record surface. Should there be difficulty at any point with the smooth progress of the LENCO-CLEAN «L» arm, carefully remove the
stand from its trial placement on the frame and test it at other sites slightly further away from the middle. Only when it works equally well over the entire record surface should the stand be fixed permanently in place.
SERVICE (FILLING THE DISPENSER ARM)
At the head of the dispenser arm is the brush which cleans the record as it quides the arm over it. dispensing the Lenco SLIPFR TONIC, in which the stylus rides. Remove the brush by twisting, then fill the tube with the Lenco SUPER TONIC to about 3/4 its length, replace the brush head by gently twisting it back on. being careful to keep the two marks aligned so that the brush lies flat on the record and is tightly sealed onto the tube. Hold the brush at a downward angle and rub the bristles with one of the paper tissues provided with the set. This causes the fluid to begin to flow and also serves to remove any dust adhering to the brush. The flow can be regulated with the lever at the head of the dispenser arm: pushing the lever toward «+» increases, and toward «----» decreases the amount of fluid dispensed. A narrow band with only a very slight sheen of humidity should form, the fainter the better.
After placing a record on the turntable, set the LENCOCLEAN «L» onto its stand with the brush on the record edge. Set the height of the metal pin protruding from the plastic base so that the dispenser arm, at rest, can move freely back and forth across the record, as well as tilt up and down on the stand. The arm must be tilted at a slight angle to the record to allow the fluid to flow out through the brush. Finally, fasten the nut on the metal pin to prevent any change of the completed adjustment.
During play the brush guides the device immediately in front of the stylus as it dispenses the fluid. While the brush removes all fibrous dust from the record surface, the granular particles in the
grooves are suspended in the fluid so that they cannot cause any noise. One filling of the tank is enough for the playing of 15 to 20 sides of 30 cm (12 inches) records.
Dry the record at the end of play by pressing the folded edge of a paper tissue lightly against the moist stripe on the record as it revolves on the turntable. Be careful never to replace a stillwet record in its sleeve!
When the arm has been lifted from the record, elevate it gently for a moment to
allow the fluid to flow back into the tank. When replaced onto its stand the arm will remain raised above the record.
Caution! Do not store the filled LENCO-CLEAN «L» on its side. Spare brushes for LENCOCLEAN «L» are available, under order number 075,0027.
LENCOCLEAN SUPER TONIC
Pure, fast-evaporating moistener free of anti-static agents.
The use of LENCOCLEAN SUPER TONIC lessens wear on stylus by at least 50 % and protects records.
New records, or ones which have had truly good care and handling may be played «dry» after having been played with LENCOCLEAN with no noticeable increase of noise, provided also that no anti-static agents have been applied to them.

THE BASIC RULES OF RECORD CARE
As can be seen from the above, it is particularly important to protect the records from dust or other environmental deposits. It is also necessary to prevent, as far as possible, the occurrence of electrostatic charges on the record. These requirements can largely be met by consistent attention to the following basic rules of record care:
1. Cut the inner sleeve of the record jacket along an additional edge adjoining the opening.
The sleeve can now be opened thus enabling removal of the record without much friction.
2. Avoid touching the grooves with your hands.
Hold the sleeve with your left hand while sliding the right hand with the palm facing upward into the sleeve until the tips of the fingers are below the record label. Take the record from the sleeve holding it by the edge and supporting it with the thumb. Put the sleeve aside and place the record, which should now be held between the two palms, on the turntable.
3. Play the records only with the dust cover closed.
If the player is open the record will be exposed to the deposition of dust for about half an hour; this effect is heightened by electrostatic charging during play.
4. Immediately after playing the record return it to its jacket
If a record is left uncovered it will immediately attract dust. To replace the
record in its sleeve proceed along the lines described in 2.
5. Protect the records from airborne contaminants
These include tobacco smoke, all types of household spray, «air purifiers» as well as steam from hot food, which carries droplets of fat (this is particularly important in apartments with so-called «Kitchen-Bars»).
6. Clean the turntable from time to time with a moist rag
Dust is bound to collect on any turntable eventually. When a record is placed on the turntable this dust is attracted by the reverse-side of the record and will later impair the quality of its reproduction.
CLEANING DIRTY RECORDS
Records which have been treated with anti-static agents (record sprays, antistatic cloths, anti-static fluids for brushes) have a mixture of dust and chemicals adhering to their groove flanks, forming a crust which obstructs the passage of the stylus causing noise and distortion. (This sticky substance is also deposited on the stylus itself where it hardens and must be removed eventually.) Such records may be washed and they may not be played with LENCOCLEAN before this is done, as the SUPER TONIC will loosen the deposits of dust and chemicals and redistribute them in the grooves making a bad situation worse. Especially useful is a relatively inexpensive record washing machine from the English firm, Keith-Monks, but if one wishes to clean his rec-
ords himself, the following procedure is recommended:
Fill a plastic bowl with clean, cold water adding two to three squirts of a conventional dishwashing detergent. About 5 cm below its edge the diameter of the bowl should be roughly equal to the diameter of the record to be cleaned. Place the record into the already filled bowl and wipe first one side and then the other with a fist-sized swab of cotton wool, in concentric circles and without any pressure.
Place the washed records into a conventional plastic record rack in the bath tub and spray them in one go with cold water, with the aid of the shower.
Rinse the records with distilled or softened water in a plastic bowl. At this stage wiping is not required.
Now dab each record between two dish cloths but do not on any account rub them. Return the records to the rack and allow them to air-dry for about a quarter of an hour in a dust-free room (bathroom). They should then be returned immediately into their sleeves and jackets. Take great care during the entire washing operation never to touch the record grooves with your fingers (skin fat).
If the record was only soiled and not scratched or otherwise actually damaged, this washing procedure will restore it almost to the state it was in when new. New records and those cleaned in this way and otherwise handled with proper care, which includes being played consistently with LENCOCLEAN «L», will show almost no increase in surface noises and no loss in reproduction guality.
