Leica möchte sich bei Ihnen für den Erwerb des Leica S-Adapter C
bedanken. Damit Sie alle Möglichkeiten dieses Adapters richtig nutzen
können, empfehlen wir Ihnen, zunächst diese Anleitung zu lesen.

Dieses Gerät enthält elektrische und/oder elektronische Bauteile und
darf daher nicht im normalen Hausmüll entsorgt werden! Stattdessen
muss es zwecks Recycling an entsprechenden, von den Gemeinden
bereitgestellten Sammelstellen abgegeben werden.
Dies ist für Sie kostenlos. Falls das Gerät selbst wechselbare Batterien
oder Akkus enthält, müssen diese vorher entnommen werden und ggf.

VERWENDBARE KAMERAS UND OBJEKTIVE

Der Leica S-Adapter C erlaubt die Verwendung von Contax
645-Objektiven (siehe S. 8) an Leica S-Kameras.
Der Leica S-Adapter C wird an der Leica S2 erst ab Firmware 1.0.4.2
unterstützt.

ANSETZEN DES ADAPTERS AN DIE KAMERA /
DES OBJEKTIVS AN DEN ADAPTER

1. Der Adapter wird wie ein Leica S-Objektiv an die Kamera angesetzt,
bzw. abgenommen.

2. Das Contax 645-Objektiv wird genauso an den Adapter angesetzt,
bzw. abgenommen, wie es an Contax 645-Gehäusen erfolgen würde.
Weitere Einzelheiten entnehmen Sie bitte den jeweiligen Kamera-.
bzw. Objektiv-Anleitungen.

Das Abnehmen erfolgt entsprechend umgekehrt.

Hinweise:

• Um Schäden an den Geräten zu vermeiden, muss bei der Verwendung

der Kamera mit Adapter auf einem Stativ darauf geachtet werden,
dass kein Teil des jeweiligen Stativkopfes, bzw. dessen
Befestigungsplatte über die vordere Kante des Kameragehäuses
hinausragt.

• Beim Einsatz des Adapters mit Aufsteck-Blitzgeräten werden dessen

ggf. vorhandene AF-Hilfslichter nicht angesteuert.

FUNKTIONEN

Der Leica S-Adapter C besitzt auf beiden Seiten die Schnittstellen, d.h.
Kontaktleisten des jeweiligen Kamera-Systems. Zusammen mit diesen
überträgt seine integrierte Elektronik elektrische Steuerungen, Signale
und Daten zwischen Gehäuse und Objektiv. Dadurch sind die Funktionen
der Blende, und des Autofokus im Objektiv gewährleistet. Die verwendete
Brennweite wird im Monitor angezeigt und im EXIF-Datensatz der
Aufnahmen aufgeführt.

A. Scharfeinstellung

Die automatische-, als auch die manuelle Scharfeinstellung erfolgen wie
mit Leica S-Objektiven.

Hinweise:

• Das Apo-Makro-Planar T* 4,0/120mm erlaubt keine automatische

Scharfeinstellung.

• Wenn die Kamera mittels Leica Image Shuttle über einen Rechner

gesteuert wird, sind möglicherweise nicht alle Funktionen einwandfrei
verfügbar.

B. Belichtungsmessung

Es stehen alle 3 Messmethoden – Mehrfeld, mittenbetont und Spot - zur
Verfügung.

Hinweis:

Der Blendenring der Contax 645-Objektive ist bei der Verwendung an
Leica S-Modellen mittels des Adapters funktionslos, der am Ring
eingestellte Wert ist ohne Bedeutung. Die Blende wird - bei
Manuellbetrieb und Zeitautomatik - mit dem Einstellrad der Kamera
gewählt.

C. Belichtungs-Betriebsarten

Alle vier Betriebsarten - Programmautomatik (P), Blenden– (T) und
Zeitautomatik (A), manuelle Steuerung (M) - stehen zur Verfügung.

Hinweise:

• Das Apo-Makro-Planar T* 4,0/120mm erlaubt keine automatische

Scharfeinstellung.

• Bei der Verwendung der Zwischenringe kann die automatisch

eingestellte, bzw. durch das entsprechende Signal als scharf
angezeigte Schärfe-Ebene geringfügig von der im Messfeld anvisierten
Ebene abweichen.

DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC
EQUIPMENT

(Applies within the EU, and for other European countries with
segregated waste collection systems)

This device contains electrical and/or electronic components and
should therefore not be disposed of in general household waste.
Instead it should be disposed of at a recycling collection point provided
by the local authority. This costs you nothing. If the device itself
contains replaceable (rechargeable) batteries, these must be removed
first and, if necessary, also be disposed of in line with the relevant
regulations. Further information on this issue is available from your
local administration, your local waste collection company, or in the
store where you purchased this device.

COMPATIBLE CAMERAS AND LENSES

The Leica S-Adapter C allows Contax 645 lenses (see p. 18) to be used
on Leica S cameras.
The Leica S2 only supports the Leica S-Adapter C with firmware
versions of 1.0.4.2 or later.

ATTACHING THE ADAPTER TO THE CAMERA /
THE LENS TO THE ADAPTER

1. The adapter is attached to and detached from the camera in
exactly the same way as a Leica S lens.

2. The Contax 645 lens is attached to and detached from the adapter
in the same way as it would be to a Contax 645 housing. For
further details, refer to the relevant camera and lens manuals.

It is detached using the same actions in reverse.

Notes:

• To prevent damage to the equipment, when using the camera and

adapter on a tripod make sure that no parts of the tripod head or
the mounting plate protrudes beyond the front edge of the camera
housing.

• When using the adapter with detachable flash units, their AF

auxiliary lights may not be activated.

FUNCTIONS

The Leica S-Adapter C has interfaces on both sides, i.e. contact strips
for the relevant camera system. Its integrated electronics use these
interfaces to transmit electrical control commands, signals and data
between the housing and the lens. This guarantees the aperture and
autofocus functions on the lens. Te focal length used is displayed in the
monitor and pictures are stored in the EXIF data record.

A. Focusing

Both automatic and manual focusing are carried out in exactly the
same way as with Leica S lenses.

Notes:

• The Apo-Macro-Planar T* 120 f/4 does not allow automatic

focusing.

• If the camera is controlled from a computer using Leica Image

Shuttle, it is possible that not all functions will be fully available.

B. Exposure metering

All three metering methods - multiple field, center weighted and spot -
are available.

Note:

The aperture dial on the Contax 645 lenses has no function when used
on Leica S models with the adapter and the value set on the dial has no
effect. The aperture is selected using the setting dial on the camera, in
both manual and aperture priority mode.

C. Exposure modes

All four modes - automatic program (P), shutter priority (T) and
aperture priority (A), manual control (M) - are available.

• The Apo-Macro-Planar T* 120 f/4 does not allow automatic

focusing.

• When using extension rings, the focal plane set automatically or

indicated as sharp by the corresponding signal may differ slightly
from the plane the metering field is aimed at.

APPAREILS ET OBJECTIFS COMPATIBLES

L'Adaptateur C de Leica S est utilisable avec les objectifs Contax 645
(voir p. 28) sur les appareils Leica S.
L'Adaptateur C de Leica S est compatible avec le Leica S2 à partir de la
version 1.0.4.2 du microprogramme.

MONTAGE DE L'ADAPTATEUR SUR L'APPAREIL PHOTO/
DE L'OBJECTIF SUR L'ADAPTATEUR

1. L'adaptateur se monte et se démonte comme l'objectif de Leica S
sur l'appareil photo.

2. L'objectif Contax 645 se monte et se démonte sur l'adaptateur
exactement de la même manière que sur le boîtier Contax 645.Vous
trouverez d'autres informations dans les modes d'emploi des
appareils et objectifs correspondants.

Pour le démonter, effectuez la procédure inverse.

Remarques:

• Pour éviter d'endommager l'appareil, lorsque vous l'utilisez avec un

adaptateur sur un trépied, vous devez veiller à ce qu'aucune partie de
la tête du trépied ou de sa plaque de fixation ne dépasse du bord
antérieur du boîtier de l'appareil.

• En cas d'utilisation de l'adaptateur avec un flash démontable, sa

lampe d'appoint AF ou la lampe d'appoint AF existante n'est pas
actionnée.

FONCTIONS

L'Adaptateur C de Leica S est équipé de part et d'autre des interfaces
(réglettes de contact) des systèmes d'appareils photo correspondants.
Elles lui permettent de transmettre les données, signaux et commandes
électriques entre le boîtier et l'objectif. Les fonctions du diaphragme et
de l'autofocus sont prises en charge dans l'objectif. La distance focale
utilisée est affichée à l'écran et indiquée dans le jeu de données EXIF de
la prise de vue.

A. Mise au point

La mise au point automatique et manuelle est identique à celle des
objectifs Leica S.

Remarques:

• L'Apo-Makro-Planar T* 4,0/120mm ne permet aucune mise au point

automatique.

• Lorsque l'appareil est réglé par ordinateur à l'aide de Leica Image

Shuttle, il est possible que toutes les fonctions ne soient pas
parfaitement utilisables.

B. Mesure de l'exposition

Les trois méthodes de mesure (champs multiples, pondération centrale
et spot) sont disponibles.

Remarque:

La bague de diaphragme de l'objectif Contax 645 n'a pas de fonctions
lors de l'utilisation sur des modèles Leica S à l'aide de l'adaptateur. La
valeur réglée sur la bague n'a pas d'importance. Le réglage du diaphragme
(en mode Manuel et Automatisme avec priorité au diaphragme)
s'effectue avec la molette de réglage de l'appareil.

C. Modes d’exposition

Les quatre modes (Automatisme programmé (P), Automatisme avec
priorité au temps de pose (T), Automatisme avec priorité au diaphragme
(A) et Commande manuelle (M)) sont disponibles.
