Please read the Operation Guide before using this product. After reading, keep it close to the machine for easy reference.

Refer to the Operation Guide for the machine for information on the service representative for your product.

The sections of this Operation Guide and parts of this product marked with symbols are safety warnings meant to protect the user, other individuals and surrounding objects, and ensure correct and safe usage of the product.

The symbols and their meanings are indicated below..

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS

Environment

CAUTION

Avoid placing this product on or in locations which are unstable or not level. Such locations may cause the product to fall down or fall over. This type of situation presents a danger of personal injury or damage to the product.

Avoid locations near radiators, heaters, or other heat sources, or locations near flammable items, to avoid the danger of fire.

Other precautions

The requirements for the operating environment are as follows:

• Temperature: 10°C to 32.5°C (50°F to 90.5°F)

• Humidity: 15% to 80%

Note that ambient environmental conditions, such as ventilation, may affect performance.

The following locations should be avoided:

• Avoid locations near a window or with exposure to direct sunlight.

• Avoid locations with vibrations.

• Avoid locations with drastic temperature fluctuations.

• Avoid locations with direct exposure to hot or cold air.

Handling of plastic bags

WARNING

Keep the plastic bags that are used with this product away from children. The plastic may cling to their nose and mouth causing suffocation.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

Cautions when using this product

WARNING

DO NOT place metallic objects or containers with water (flower vases, flower pots, cups, etc.) on or near this product. This type of situation presents a danger of fire or electrical shock should any water fall inside.

DO NOT damage, break or attempt to repair the power cable. DO NOT place heavy objects on the power cable, pull it, bend it unnecessarily or cause any other type of damage. These types of situations present a danger of fire or electrical shock..

NEVER attempt to repair or disassemble this product or its parts as there is a danger of injury or fire or electrical shock.

If this product becomes excessively hot, smoke appears, there is an odd smell, or any other abnormal situation arises, there is a danger of fire or electrical shock. Immediately turn OFF (O) the machine’s main power switch, remove the machine’s power plug from its outlet and contact your service representative.

If anything harmful (paper clips, water, other fluids, etc.) falls into this product, immediately turn the machine OFF (O) at the main power switch, remove the copier/printer power plug from its outlet and then contact your service representative. If you continue to use this product without taking these steps, there is a danger of fire or electrical shock.

ALWAYS contact your service representative for maintenance or repair of internal parts.

CAUTION

For safety purposes, ALWAYS turn OFF (O) the machine’s main power switch and remove the machine’s power plug from its outlet when performing cleaning operations on this product.

DO NOT touch the ejection tray when the product is in operation as there is a danger of injury.

If dust accumulates within this product, there is a danger of fire or other trouble. It is therefore recommended that you consult with your service representative in regard to cleaning of internal parts. This is particularly effective if accomplished prior to seasons of high humidity. Consult with your service representative in regard to the cost of cleaning the internal parts of the product as well.

Other Precautions

DO NOT place heavy objects on this product or cause other damage to the product.

When lifting or moving the product, contact your service representative.

Do not touch electrical parts, such as connectors or printed circuit boards. They could be damaged by static electricity.

DO NOT attempt to perform any operations not explained in this Operation Guide.

Loading Paper

For details on the types of paper supported, refer to Paper in the Appendix of the Advanced Operation Guide.

Before Loading Paper

When you open a new package of paper, follow the instructions as below to fan through the paper prior to loading.

1 Holding the paper on both sides,

bend the edges downward so that the middle curves upward.

2 Holding your thumbs in place

toward the center, unbend the paper so that the bottom sheet is back at its original position.Your thumbs should prevent the stack from straightening out, forming a hill-like shape.

3 Fluff the paper, raising one hand

and lowering the other, then alternating. The individual sheets are slightly lifted, separated from each other.

4 Align the sheets by tapping the stack on a flat surface.

If the paper is curled or folded, straighten it before loading. Paper that is curled or folded may cause paper jams.

IMPORTANT: If you copy onto used paper (paper already used for copying), do not use paper that is stapled or clipped together. This may damage the copier or cause poor image quality.

If ejected copies are not flat or are stacked unevenly, turn the paper in the side feeder over and reload it.

Avoid exposing opened paper to high temperatures and high humidity as dampness may cause copying problems. Seal any remaining paper after loading the side feeder in its original package. If the copier will not be used for a prolonged period, protect all paper from humidity by removing from the side feeder and sealing in the original package.

Loading Paper in the Side Feeder

The side feeder has a capacity of 4000 sheets standard paper(80g/m2). The following paper sizes can be used in side feeder.

Inch models: 11 × 17", 8

Metric models: A3, A4, A4R

1/2 ×14", 81/2 ×11", 11×81/2"

NOTE: After loading paper, be sure to specify the type of the paper loaded in the side

feeder on the operation panel. The available options are plain, recycled, colored paper and thick paper. For details, refer to the Operataion Guide for the machine. Consult your Dealer or Service Representative for changing the paper sizes.

Open the top cover.

Align the paper flush against the left side in the

back of the feeder as you load it.

NOTE: Before loading the paper, be sure

that it is not curled or folded. Paper that is curled or folded may cause paper jams. Load the paper with the side to be copied face-up.

NOTE: The side feeder detects the paper when

the paper touches the detect switch. The paper lifter descends for approximately 500 sheets after three seconds.

Paper can be added after the paper lifter is stopped.

Do not touch the paper lifter when it is running.

While the paper lifter has lighted in green, it is

available to descend the paper lifter manually.

IMPORTANT: If the paper exceeds the indicated level (1) when the paper lifter is at the bottom, the loading paper indicator lights in red and the error message is displayed.

Ensure that the paper does not exceed the indicated level (1).

Troubleshooting

Solving Malfunctions

The table below provides general guidelines for problem solving.

If a problem occurs with your copier, check the checkpoints and perform procedures indicated on the following pages. If the problem persists, contact your Service Representative.

Papier einlegen

Bevor das Papier eingelegt wird

Wenn Sie ein neues Papierpaket öffnen, folgen Sie den nachfolgenden Anleitungen, um das Papier vor dem Einlegen aufzufächern.

1 Das Papier an beiden Seiten

halten, die Kanten nach unten biegen, so dass sich die Mitte nach oben wölbt.

2 Die Daumen zur Mitte hin halten

und das Papier wieder zurück biegen, so dass sich das untere Blatt wieder an seiner ursprünglichen Postion befindet. Die Daumen sollten verhindern, dass sich der Stapel gerade ausrichtet und dabei eine hügelartige Form annimmt.

3 Das Papier durch Heben der einen und Senken der anderen Hand auflockern.

Vorgang seitenverkehrt wiederholen. Die einzelnen Blätter werden leicht angehoben und voneinander getrennt.

4 Blätter durch Klopfen des Stapels auf eine flache Oberfläche ausrichten.

Gefaltetes oder gewelltes Papier muss vor dem Einlegen geglättet werden. Gewelltes oder gefaltetes Papier kann Papierstaus verursachen.

linken hinteren Seite der Zufuhr anliegt.

HINWEIS: Vergewissern Sie sich vor dem

Liegt ein Papierstau in der Seitenzufuhr vor, wird Papierstau auf dem Sensorbildschirm angezeigt, und der Kopierer wird angehalten. Folgende Anweisungen befolgen, um Papierstau zu beseitigen.

Papierstau - Vorsichtsmaßnahmen

• Der unterbrochene Kopierauftrag wird gelöscht, wenn der Kopierer durch Drücken der Netztaste oder durch Betätigung des Hauptschalters ausgeschaltet wird.

• Lassen Sie den Hauptschalter eingeschaltet (|), während Sie Papierstaus beseitigen.

• Das bei Papierstaus betroffene Papier nicht wiederverwenden.

• Reißt Papier während der Staubeseitigung, sämtliche Papierteile aus dem Kopierer entfernen. Papierteile, die im Kopierer zurückbleiben, verursachen einen Stau.

Chargement du papier

Pour plus de détails sur les types de papier pris en charge, reportez-vous au chapitre Papier dans l’Annexe du Manuel d’utilisation avancée.

Avant de charger le papier

Lorsque vous ouvrez une ramette de papier neuve, suivez les instructions ci-dessous pour aérer les feuilles avant de les charger.

1 En tenant le papier des deux

côtés, courbez les bords vers le bas afin que le milieu ondule vers le haut.

2 Vos pouces posés au centre,

dépliez le papier afin que la feuille du bas se remette dans sa position initiale. Vos pouces doivent empêcher la pile de se redresser, en formant un arrondi.

3 Ventilez le papier en levant une

main et en baissant l’autre main, puis l’inverse. Les feuilles sont légèrement soulevées et séparées les unes des autres.

4 Alignez les feuilles en tapotant la pile sur une surface plane.

Si le papier est tuilé ou plié, lissez-le avant de le charger. L’utilisation de papier tuilé ou plié peut entraîner des bourrages papier.

IMPORTANT: Assurez-vous que le papier n’est ni agrafé ni attaché par des trombones. Les agrafes ou les trombones peuvent endommager le copieur ou provoquer une mauvaise qualité d’image.

Si les copies éjectées ne sont pas lisses ou si elles sont empilées d’une manière inégale, retirez le papier du magasin, retournez-le et rechargez-le.

N’exposez pas le papier à des températures et une humiditéélevées. Remettez le papier restant dans son emballage d’origine. Si le copieur n'est pas utilisé pendant une période prolongée, retirez le papier des magasins et remettez-le dans son emballage d’origine.

Chargement du papier dans le magasin optionnel

Le magasin optionnel peut contenir jusqu’à 4000 feuilles de papier standard (80 g/m2). Les formats de papier suivants peuvent être utilisés dans le magasin optionnel.

REMARQUE: Après avoir chargé le papier, veillez à spécifier le type du papier chargé

dans le magasin optionnel sur le panneau de commande. Les options utilisable sont papier standard, papier recyclé, papier couleur et papier épais. Pour plus de détails, reportez-vous au Manuel d’utilisation de la machine. Pour changer les formats de papier, contactez votre revendeur ou le technicien.

Ouvrez le capot supérieur.

Alignez le papier sur le bord gauche à l’arrière du

magasin optionnel lorsque vous le chargez.

REMARQUE: Après avoir chargé le papier,

veillez à ce qu’il ne soit pas tuilé ou plié. L’utilisation de papier tuilé ou plié peut entraîner des bourrages de papier. Chargez le papier en orientant sa face à copier vers le haut.

REMARQUE: Le magasin optionnel détecte le

papier lorsque celui-ci entre en contact avec le commutateur de détection. Le releveur de papier redescend d’environ 500 feuilles après trois secondes environ.

Vous pouvez rajouter du papier une fois que le releveur de papier s’est arrêté.

Ne touchez pas le releveur de papier pendant qu’il se déplace.

Pendant que le releveur de papier est éclairé en

vert, il est possible de faire redescendre manuellement le releveur de papier.

IMPORTANT: Si le niveau du papier dépasse le niveau indiqué (1) lorsque le releveur de papier se trouve tout en bas, l’indicateur de chargement du papier s’allume en rouge et le message d’erreur s'affiche.

Veillez à ce que le papier ne dépasse pas le niveau indiqué (1).

Caricamento della carta

Per dettagli relativi ai tipi di carta supportati, leggere la sezione Carta nell’appendice della Guida alle funzioni avanzate.

Operazioni precedenti al caricamento della carta

Quando si apre una nuova confezione di carta, seguire le istruzioni sottostanti per smazzare i fogli prima di caricarli.

1 Tenendo i fogli di carta per

entrambi i lati, piegare i bordi verso il basso in modo da incurvare la parte centrale verso l’alto.

2 Tenendo entrambi i pollici rivolti

verso la parte centrale, raddrizzare la carta in modo che il foglio inferiore ritorni nella sua posizione originale. I pollici impediscono il raddrizzamento della pila, formando una sagoma ondulata.

3 Rigonfiare la carta sollevando una mano e abbassando l’altra, quindi alternare il

movimento. I singoli fogli sono leggermente sollevati e separati.

4 Allineare i fogli picchiettando la pila su una superficie piana.

Italiano

Se la carta è arricciata o piegata, rimuovere le pieghe prima di caricarla. La carta arricciata o piegata può causare inceppamenti.

IMPORTANTE: Assicurarsi che la carta non sia pinzata o spillata per evitare possibili danni alla macchina o immagini di scarsa qualità.

Se le copie espulse non sono piane o sono impilate in modo non uniforme, rimuovere la carta dal cassetto, capovolgerla, quindi ricaricarla.

Non esporre la carta a elevati valori di temperatura e umidità. Riporre la carta avanzata nella confezione originale e richiuderla. Se non si prevede di utilizzare la macchina per un periodo prolungato, rimuovere la carta dai cassetti, riporla nel suo involucro originale, quindi sigillarla ermeticamente.

Caricamento della carta nell’alimentatore laterale

L’alimentatore laterale dispone di una capacità di 4000 fogli di carta standard (80g/m2). I seguenti formati carta possono essere usati nell’alimentatore laterale.

NOTA: Dopo avere caricato la carta, assiscurarsi di specificare il tipo di carta caricata

nell’alimentatore laterale sul pannello comandi. Le opzioni disponibili sono carta liscia, riciclata e carta spessa. Per dettagli consultare la Guida alle funzioni della macchina. Contattare il proprio rivenditore o un tecnico del servizio di assistenza per cambiare i formati della carta.

Aprire il coperchio superiore.

Inserire la carta allineandola in modo rasente al

lato posteriore e sinistro dell’alimentatore.

NOTA: Prima di caricare la carta, verificare

che non sia arricciata o piegata. La carta arricciata o piegata può causare inceppamenti. Inserire la carta con il lato da stampare rivolto verso l’alto.

NOTA: L’alimentatore laterale rileva la carta

quando questa tocca l’interruttore di rilevazione. Il sollevatore carta scende di circa 500 fogli dopo tre secondi.

Si può aggiungere altra carta dopo che il sollevatore carta si è fermato.

Non toccare il sollevatore carta mentre è in movimento.

Se la spia del sollevatore carta è verde, sarà

possibile abbassarlo manualmente.

IMPORTANTE: Se la carta supera il livello (1) indicato quando il sollevatore carta è completamente abbassato, la spia di caricamento della carta diventa rossa e un messaggio di errore viene visualizzato.

Verificare che la carta non superi il livello indicato (1).

Precauzioni relative agli inceppamenti carta

• L’operazione di copiatura interrotta viene ripresa quando il tasto di alimentazione viene premuto per spegnere o quando si porta l’interruttore principale nella posizione di spegnimento.

• Lasciare l’interruttore principale nella posizione di accensione (|) mentre si eliminano gli inceppamenti.

本製品をぐらついた台の上や傾いた所など不安定な場所に置かないでください。落ちたり、倒れたりして、けがの原因となることがあります。

本製品をストーブなどの熱源や可燃物が近くにある場所に置かないでください。火災の原因となることがあります。

その他の注意事項

ご使用いただける環境の範囲は次のとおりです。

•温度　10 ～ 32.5 ℃

ただし、外気など周囲の環境条件によっては性能が維持できない場合があります。また、下記のような場所は避けてください。

ビニールの取り扱いについて

用紙の補給

使用できる用紙の詳細は、本体の使用説明書応用編　付録用紙についてを参照してください。

用紙補給時の注意

包装紙から出した用紙をセットする前に、次の手順でさばいてください。

1 用紙の中央を浮かせるように、用

2 用紙の両端をつまんだまま、用紙

3 左右の手を交互に上下させて、用

4 最後に、水平な台の上で、用紙を

紙全体を曲げてください。

全体がふくらむように戻してください。

紙の間に空気を入れてください。

揃えてください。

用紙に折れやカール等がある場合は、まっすぐにのばしてからセットしてください。紙づまりの原因となります。

注意：再利用紙（一度コピーした用紙）を使用する場合に、ステープル（ホッチキス）やクリップなどで止められている用紙は使用しないでください。画像不良や故障の原因となります。

排出された用紙がそったり、揃わないときは、サイドフィーダの用紙を裏返してセットし直してください。

高温高湿環境で、用紙を取り出し放置すると、湿気でトラブルの要因となりますので、サイドフィーダに入れた残りの用紙は用紙保管袋に入れて密封保管してください。機械を長時間使用しない場合は、用紙を湿気から守るために、サイドフィーダから用紙を取り出し、保管袋に入れて密封保管してください。

サイドフィーダには、普通紙（80 g/m2）を 4000 枚収納することができます。使用できる用紙サイズは次のとおりです。

参考：用紙を検知スイッチの位置までセットすると、スイッチが検知してから約 3 秒後に昇降板が普通紙約 500 枚分下がります。

昇降板が停止してから、さらに用紙をセットすることができます。

動作中は、昇降板に触れないでください。

（1）を超えないようにセットしてください。

2.サイドフィーダを本体にセットしてください

1.接続口に用紙があれば取り除いてください。

紙づまりが発生したら

サイドフィーダで紙づまりが発生した場合は、タッチパネルに「紙づまりです。」が表示され、コピーを停止します。以降の手順を参照して、つまっている用紙を取り除いてください。

注意事項

• 複写機の電源を切らないでくだい、電源を切ると印刷中のジョブデータは消去されます。

• 紙づまりの処理を行うときは、複写機のメインスイッチはON( ｜ ) のままで行ってください。

• つまった用紙は再使用しないでください。

• 用紙を取り出すときに用紙が破れた場合、紙片を本機内に残さないように注意して

ください。紙づまりが再発する原因になります。

サイドフィーダ上の解除レバーを押し、サイドフィーダを本体から離してください。

サイドフィーダ接続口につまっている用紙があれば取り除いてください。

用紙が破れた場合は、紙片が残らないようにすべて取り除いてください。
