Disposal of packaging
Dispose of all packaging materials in an
environmentally friendly manner.
Inserting batteries
• Open the battery compartment tat the rear side.
• Insert 4 x 1,5 V batteries, size LR44/303 (button cell),
paying heed to the polarity markings shown in the
battery compartment
t
. Additionally, ensure that
the button cells are always inserted with the minus
pole (-) lying against the plus pole (+) of the
neighbouring button cell.
• Close the battery compartment lid and check that it
is firmly seated.
Cleaning
Should moisture penetrate into the appliance, it
could become irreparably damaged!
Ensure that moisture cannot permeate into the
device during cleaning!
• Clean the appliance only with a lightly moistened
cloth.
Causes of error
The following errors are indicated in the display
q
with “ERR”:
- Batteries too weak
- Target being measured is outside the measurement range
- A further ultrasound source is in the vicinity
- The ultrasound signal being reflected from the
target surface is too weak
Using the laser
• Set the appliance up with the laser opening pointing
away from yourself and other people.
• Briefly press the button LASER
e
. The laser is now
switched on and a laser spot is being projected.
• To switch the laser off, press the button LASER
e
once again or briefly press the measurement
button
w
.
Changing the batteries (Fig. B)
Display for weak battery
If the batteries are weak, a battery symbol appears in
the display. In this case, renew the batteries.
Measuring distances
• Hold the appliance with the measurement opening
at a right angle to the target surface.
Ensure that the laser opening on the appliance is
directed away from both yourself and other people!
• Press and hold down the measuring button w.
A laser spot is projected. The measured value can
be read off in the display.
Add 5 cm to the measured value to take into account
the length of the housing.
• To retain the measured value, release the measuring
button
w
. The laser beam extinguishes and the
value continues to be shown in the display
q
until either the appliance switches itself off automatically, after 30 seconds, or you take another
measurement.
Tips:
- Every object located within an area of +/- 5° from
the measurement opening will be recognised as
a target surface and its distance calculated.
- Distances to large and level surfaces, such as walls,
are easier to measure.
- Should you have difficulty taking measurements to
objects with small surface areas, irregular shapes
or they are made of absorbent materials, place
a piece of cardboard on the target surface.
Ultrasound measurements cannot be made through
glass.
• Regularly check the condition of the batteries.
Leaking batteries can cause damage to the appliance.
• If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the batteries.
• Always replace all batteries at the same time and
with the same type.
• In the event of the batteries leaking acids, wear
protective gloves. Clean the battery compartment
and the battery contacts with a dry cloth.
