Safety instructions
• Do not allow children to handle electrical appliances when unsupervised because they often underestimate the danger.
• In order to avoid unintentional switching on, disconnect the power cord after each use and before cleaning.
• Check the appliance and all parts for visible damages. The safety concept can work only if the appliance is in a faultless condition.
• The power plug must always be easily accessible, so that in the event of an emergency it can be quickly seperated from the mains power supply.
Explosion Hazard!
• Do not throw batteries into a fire. Do not recharge the batteries.
Danger of electric shock!
• Connect the appliance to a wall socket with a mains voltage of 230 V / 50 Hz.
• Do not use the appliance with a damaged power cable or power plug.
• If the power cable or the appliance become damaged or do not function correctly, you must have them repaired or exchanged as soon as possible by the customer service before reusing them.
• Never immerse the appliance in water. Wipe it only with a slightly damp cloth.
• Do not expose the appliance to the rain and never use it in a humid or wet environment.
• Ensure that the power cable never becomes moist or wet during operation.
• Do not open the casing or try to repair the appliance yourself. In this case, appliance-safety cannot be assured and the warranty is voided.
KH2324
KH2324_DAB_Radio_UK.qxd 30.03.2006 10:41 Uhr Seite 4
- 5 -
• Do not place objects containing fluids, e.g. flower vases, on the appliance.
• Do not use an extension cable. In emergencies the power plug must be quickly accessible.
Fire hazard!
• Do not use the appliance near hot
surfaces.
• Do not keep the appliance in places
that are exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise it may overheat and become irreparably damaged.
• Do not leave the appliance unatten-
ded when in use.
• Never cover the ventilation slots of the
appliance while it is switched on.
• Do not place any open fire sources, e.g. candles, on the appliance.
Danger of injuries
Keep the power cable and appliance away from children. Children frequently underestimate the danger from electrical appliances.
• Provide for a safe place for the app-
liance.
• Do not operate the appliance if it has
fallen or is damaged. Have the appliance checked and repaired if necessary by qualified technicians.
• Keep batteries away from children.
Children can put batteries into their mouths and swallow them.
Caution!
Notice regarding surge voltages (FEO / fast electrical overloads):
In the case of a malfunction due to fast electrical overload (surge voltage) the appliance must be reset (possibly the power supply needs to be seperated and reconnected), in order to return to normal operation.
Electrostatic Discharge
In the case of a malfunction due to an electrostatic discharge the appliance must be reset (possibly the power supply needs to be seperated and reconnected), in order to return to normal operation.
Note: Cases of electrostatic dischar-
ge occur when one walks with plastic soled shoes over carpeted floors which also contain plastics in part. Through the friction of the soles on the carpet , a charge is created in the body which discharges itself as soon as an object suitable for conducting electricity is touched, e.g. a door handle or the bodywork of a vehicle. It is sufficient to be just a few centimetre away from the conducting object. Direct contact with the object is not essential to cause a discharge. The charge can then discharge itself over an electric arc. Static decay is therefore also possible through plastic housing parts.

Note: This appliance is equipped
with non-slip rubber feet. As furniture surfaces are made of various substances and maintained with diverse care products, it cannot be completely excluded that some of these materials contain ingredients which may attack and soften the rubber feet. In cases of doubt, place an anti-slip material under the rubber feet of the appliance.

The use of rechargable batteries is possible. However, these will not be recharged in the battery compartment.
Note: Used batteries may not be
disposed of in household waste. Return them to your retailer or to an appropriate collection site for disposal. Remove all batteries from the battery compartment if you are not planning to use the device for a longer period. The device can be irreparably damaged by leaking battery acids.
Note: The DAB radio also uses power
when in Standby-Mode. Therefore remove all batteries from the battery compartment if you are not using the device for a longer period. The radio station memory will then be lost.
Note: To help preserve the batteries,
in Standby Mode the display is not illuminated and the time is not shown.
