Modifications to A20 ADC assembly require new repair strategy.

Situation:

To improve the ma rg in of uni ts failing the ma nufacturing amp litude linearity test, a modif ica ­tion has been im plemented on the A20 ADC asse mbly with date cod e 41 03 or greater. If the
instrume nt ha s option AY7, a second input channel, th en this modificati on m ust be the per­formed on both A20 ADC asse mbl ie s. This modification also requires firmware revision
A.08.23 or greater to be inst a ll ed .

Solution:

1. When replacing an A20 ADC assembl y upgr a de the firmwa re version to A.08.23 or
greater. Firmware upgrades are available on the web using the URL
http://www.agilen t.c om/find/89400 or upgrade kits can be purchased usin g part num­ber 89400-84401 . To verify the firmware version that is inst alle d pr e ss S ystem Util­ity, more, fi rmwa re ve rsion.

2. When replacing a n A20 ADC assembly in an instr ument with opti on AY7, se co nd in­put channel, verify that the ADC revision levels are compatible. Cycle the power on
the 89410A while holding down the ’.’ and ’3 ’ keys on the front panel . Continue to
press the keys until Additional Hardwar e is di spl ay ed . The te st log will now show the
revision levels of Channel 1 ADC and Channel 2 ADC. A rev 5 (date code 4103)
ADC or greater cannot be used with rev 1 t hrough 4 ADC. Order exchange A20 as­semblies for both channels if needed.
