HP 4155B/4156B Trade-In Program for
HP 4145A/B and HP 4155A/4156A Owners
Promotional Information
Introduction
Program Outline
With the introduction of the
HP 4155B Semiconductor Parameter
Analyzer and the HP 4156B
Precision Semiconductor Parameter
Analyzer, HP is offering a trade-in
program to existing HP 4145A/B and
HP 4155A/4156A owners. The key
points of the program are:
ì The percentage discount
increases with the number of
units returned for trade-in credit.
ì Percentage discounts do not
accumulate; they must be done on
a single transaction basis.
ì The percentage discounts are
based on the number of units
returned; this number must match
the number of new units
purchased exactly.
ì Discounts from this program may
be added to other applicable HP
discounts.
ì Units returned for credit must be
shipped within 60 days of receipt
of new instruments to the regional
return site, or the credit is forfeit.
ì The packing slip must reference
your name, and the HP order
number from your original order of
the HP 4155B and/or HP 4156B.
All returns must be on one packing
slip, and the packing slip must
include a complete listing of
product and serial numbers of the
units being returned.
ì The trade-in program runs until
February 29, 2000 for the
HP 4145A/B, HP 4155A, and
HP 4156A.

New Features
The HP 4155B/4156B
Semiconductor Parameter
Analyzers
Specification Changes
Instrument Control
HP 4155B and 4156B function control:
Internal or external computer controls
the HP 4155B and HP 4156B functions
via HP-IB interface.
New Command set:
HP FLEX command set
New Program Memory:
Using the HP 4155B/4156B HP FLEX
command set, the user can store
program code in the HP 4155B or the
HP 4156B. Maximum number of
subprograms is 256 (8 bit).
NFS LAN capability increases flexibility and efficiency
LAN Capability
The HP 4155B/4156B supports the
NFS protocol and has a 10BASE-T
compatible LAN port. You can
define up to 4 different network
directories per instrument, which all
of your networked parameter
analyzers can share. You can also
use any networked printer to make
hard copies of your test results. This
gives you the capability to share data
and setup files on a site-wide or even
worldwide basis (Note: The
instrument itself does not support
network gateways). In addition,
you can easily pull data into data
analysis tools (such as spreadsheets)
on your desktop PC.
Better Printer Support for
Cleaner Presentations
The HP 4155B/4156B now
supports the popular TIF file
format, enabling you to place plots
and other graphical information
directly into your reports. In
addition, the new parameter
analyzers also support a special
high-resolution format (HR). The
HR format eliminates some of the
common printing/plotting issues
(such as “stair-step” wave forms)
which detract from the appearance of
final reports. Finally, the new
analyzers have parallel printer
interfaces (Centronics), replacing the
older serial printer interface.
Easy to Use VXIplug&play Drivers
for Visual Programming
Languages
HP supplies VXIplug&play
drivers for the HP 4155B,
HP 4156B, and HP E5250A (Low
Leakage Switch Mainframe). More
powerful and easier to use than the
old panel drivers, the plug&play
drivers unleash the full power of
visual programming languages such
as HP VEE. HP VEE easily allows
you to create test sequences, make
conditional branching decisions, and
develop operator interfaces, and does
this in much shorter time periods
than more traditional programmatic
languages.
