Before Use/ Installation Procedure
WARNING
To prevent injury or fire, take the following precautions:
• To prevent a shor t circuit, never pu t or leave any metallic objec ts (such as coins or me tal tools) inside the u nit.
• Installa tion and wiring of th is product req uire specialist skill and e xperience. To assure you r safety, please re quest a speciali st technician to in stall the unit.
• When you make a ho le to install the ca mera, check the locatio n of pipes, tanks an d wiring and avoid touch ing them. Oth erwise it may cau se the  re.
• When you make a ho le with a drill, use go ggles to protec t your eyes.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the product, take the following precautions:
• Make sure to gro und the unit to a negati ve 12V DC power supply.
• When repla cing a fuse, only use a n ew fuse with the prescr ibed rating. Using a f use with the wron g rating may cause you r unit to malfunc tion.
• Do not use you r own screws. Use onl y the screws provi ded. If you use th e wrong screws, you c ould damage the unit .
NOTE
• A rear view c amera is a camera th at provides symme trical images in t he same way as rear and sid e view mirrors.
• Connec tion to a TV with an RCA v ideo input is possi ble, but con rm whether t he TV you use has a rever se gear connection function.
• This prod uct is designed to s upplement the dri ver’s rear view, but the c amera images do not sh ow all dangers and obstac les. Be sure to look beh ind you when reversin g to con rm the view.
• This prod uct features a wi de-angle lens, so t he near view is wide and th e far view is narrow, whi ch may create a false sen se of distance. Be su re to look behind you wh en reversing t o con rm the v iew.
• Do not wash yo ur car with an automa tic car wash or high-pr essure water as it may r esult in water enter ing the camera or t he camera fallin g o .
• Check ca mera bracket inst allation befor e driving.
Are the scr ews loose?
- Is the came ra bracket  rmly secured?
- If the rear vi ew camera comes lo ose while you are dri ving
it may caus e an accident.
• Before  nally i nstalling the uni t, connect the wi ring temporar ily, making sure it is all co nnected up pro perly, and the unit a nd the system wor k.
• When mount ing this unit, make sur e none of the leads are trappe d between this uni t and the surround ing metalwork or  ttings.
• Do not mount t his unit near the heat er outlet, where it would be a ec ted by heat, or near the d oors, where rainwater m ight splash onto it. (Ne ver install in loca tions such as the ab ove because of the d anger of malfunc tion due to high tem peratures.)
• Before d rilling any mountin g holes always chec k behind where you wa nt to drill the holes . Do not drill into the ga s line, brake li ne, electrica l wiring or other imp ortant par ts.
• If this unit i s installed in the p assenger compar tment, anchor it s ecurely so it doe s not break free whi le the car is moving, an d cause injury or a n accident.
• If this unit i s installed unde r a front seat, make sur e it does not obstr uct seat movement . Route all leads and cor ds caref ully around the slidi ng mechanism so the y do not get caught or p inched in the mech anism and cause a shor t circuit.
Care and maintenance
• When the pr oduct gets dir ty, wipe dry wi th a silicon cloth or soft c loth. If it is seriou sly stained, remove s tain with a cloth mois tened with a neut ral cleaner and then w ipe the cleane r away. Do not use a hard cloth and /or a volatil e substan ce such as lacquer thin ner or alcohol, scratc hes, deform ation, degradatio n and/or damage may result .
• When a lens co mponent gets dir ty, wipe gently wi th a soft cloth mois tened with water. Do no t rub with a dry clo th to prevent sc ratching the lens.
Installation Procedure
1 To prevent a short circuit, remove the key from the
ignition and disconnect the - battery.
2 Make the proper input and output wire connections
for each unit.
3 Connect the wiring harness wires in the following
order: ground, ignition and camera unit.
4 Install the unit in your car. 5 Reconnect the - battery.

WARNING
• If you conne ct the ignition w ire (Red) to the car cha ssis (Ground), you may c ause a short circ uit, that in turn may star t a  re. Always co nnect those wir es to the power source running through the fuse box.
• Do not cut ou t the fuse from th e ignition wire (Red ). The power suppl y must be connect ed to the wires via the f use.
CAUTION
• If your car ’s ignition does not ha ve an ACC position, connec t the igniti on wires to a power sour ce that can be turned o n and o with the ignitio n key. If you connect the i gnition wire to a power s ource with a constan t voltage supply, as with bat tery wires, th e battery may die.
• If the fus e blows,  r st make sure the wires a ren’t touching to cause a sh ort circuit, th en replace the old fu se with one with the same rating.
• Insulate unc onnected wire s with vinyl tape or ot her similar material. To prev ent a short circui t, do not remove the cap s on the ends o f the unconnecte d wires or the termi nals.
• After th e unit is installed, c heck whether the b rake lamps, blinkers , wipers, etc. on th e car are working pr operly.
• Install s o that it does not obs truct the rear  eld of v iew.
• Install s o that it does not pro trude from the sid e of the car.
• Do not per form installa tion in rain or fog.
• When humid ity is high, dry t he surface to whic h the unit is to be att ached before ins talling.
• Moistur e on the attachme nt surface reduc es adhesive streng th, which may lead to the u nit coming o .
• Do not att ach the camera br acket to areas on the ca r body treated wi th  uoro carbon resin, or gla ss.
• May result i n the rear view camer a falling o .
- Do not apply wa ter to the unit.
- Do not expos e the unit to rain.
- Do not subjec t the camera to unn ecessary for ce.
- Thoroughl y clean where tape is u sed for sticki ng on the unit.
• Refer to th e Instructio n’s manual fo r details on connec ting the other un its, then make conne ctions corre ctly.
• Secure t he wiring with cab le clamps or adhesive t ape. To protect th e wiring, wrap adhe sive tape around th em where the y lie against metal p arts.
• Route and se cure all wiring so i t cannot touch any mov ing part s, such as the gear shif t, handbrake and s eat rails.
• Do not rout e wiring in places tha t get hot, such as near t he heater out let. If the insulati on of the wiring melt s or gets torn, ther e is a danger of the wiri ng short-circu iting to the vehicle body.
• When repla cing the fuse, be sur e to use only fuse of th e rating pr escribed on the f use holder.
• To minimize nois e locate the TV ante nna cable, radio antenna ca ble and RCA cable as f ar away from each othe r as possible.
• Lay the cord s by avoiding high-tempe rature areas. Use corruga ted tubes for wir ing inside the engin e room. If a cord conta cts a high-temp erature area of the vehi cle, the coating may m elt and cause shor t-circuiting , which may lead to a  re or electr ic shock hazard.

Installation
Recommended Installation Position
Examples of correct camera installation on the rear of the vehicle
Installation position
Mount so that the “KENWOOD” logo appears at the top.
Installing the Camera/Adjusting its angle
1 Decide the camera installation position. 2 Clean the camera installation surface.
Using a commercially available cleaner, wipe dir t, moisture and oil away fro m the surface on which t he camera bracket is to be attached.
3 Loosen the camera bracket retaining screws.
Using a commercially available Phillips screwdriver, loosen the two retaining screws.
5 Mount the camera on the camera bracket.
Mount so that the “KENWOOD” logo app ears at the top.
6 Fix the camera temporarily with tape, etc.
Using a piece of tape, etc., fi x the camera temporaril y.

Install the c amera at the center of the vehicle and not to hide the number plate. And also install st raight toward the forward /reverse directio n of the vehicle. Be careful no t to lean the camer a toward other directions of the vehicle, etc.
7 Complete all of the required connections. 8 Display the camera video.
Before viewing the c amera, apply the parking brake and chock the wheels so tha t the vehicle will not move. Otherwise, an unexpected accident may result. For displayin g the camera video, read th e instruction manual for your vid eo monitor.
Change the shift lever to the R (Reverse) range
to view the image of the rear of the vehicle.
9 Adjust the camera angle.
When adjusting the cam era angle, be careful no t to stretch the camera cord.
Adjust the angle so that th e rear of the vehicle or the bumper
can be seen a t the bottom of the moni tor.
Perfor m steps 4 and 5 only when they are require d.
4 If required, separate the camera bracket from
the camera and adjust the shape according to the surface on which it will be attached.
Adjust the c amera bracket shape so that it fi t s the camera installation position.

10 After adjusting the camera angle, tighten the
retaining screws fi rmly.
Inspec t the retaining screw s at times. If they are loose, tighten them fi rmly.
11 Fix the camera fi rmly in position.
Peel off the paper liner from the d ouble-side adhesive t ape on the camer a bracket and attach i t. After attaching, push the camera bracket with your fi nger to ensure close adhesion. Do not touch the adhesive su rface with your hand o r peel and reattac h an attached tape, as t hese will degrade the adhesive force and may cau se the camera bracket to b e detached. If required, s ecure the bracket on th e vehicle body using the camera bracket clamping screw. The camera bracket has t wo holes for the screw. Select o ne of them to fi t the positi on of the attachment .

Basic Connections
Navigation system/video monitor (commercially available)
Connect to the rearview camera video input or to the external video input of the video monitor.

Connect to a metallic part of vehicle (a part of chassis connected to the negative side of power supply).
CAUTION
• If the engine key of your vehicle does not have the ACC position, branch the wire energized when the engine key is ON and connect it to the accessory power cord.
• Before proceeding to connections, make sure that the engine key is not inserted and disconnect the (-) terminal of the battery to prevent the short-circuiting incident.
