To temporarily stop playback,press PAUSE/STEP.The picture
will freeze and the sound will stop.Press PLAY to return to nor-

To quickly advance the video cassette:
1. Press STOP if the VCR is currently playing.

Preparing to record a program(manual or timer)
Before you begin recording:
Turn on the television.
Set the TV to channel 3 or 4 or video input.
Insert a video cassette (with a safety tab) into the VCR.
If your VCR is connected to :
-- an antenna,set the viewing mode to “ANTENNA.”
-- a cable system,set the viewing mode to “CABLE.”

Watching and recording the same channel
To watch and record the same channel:
1. Be certain to do the steps in the section,“Preparing to
record a program,”above.
2. Use 0-9 or Direction button CH / to select the chan-
nel number.
3. Press SP/EP to select the recording speed.
4. Press REC/OTR to begin recording.The REC indicator
lights.
Press STOP to stop the recording.

Timer recording
There are four timer modes:One time,Daily,Weekdays,and

viewing and if you want to make a new program,press
SETUP and restart from step 4 to 11.

One touch timer records a program for a preset recording tim

1. Be certain to do the tasks in the section,“Preparing to record
a program”.
2. Use 0-9 or Direction button CH / to select the channel to
record.
3. Press REC/OTR to begin recording.
4. Continue to press REC/OTR to increase the time length of
the recording.

While it’s in the OTR mode, all buttons on the front panel
except the RECORD button will not work to prevent to stop,
or to disturb, recording by accidentally pressing any button.
However, all the functions of buttons will be recovered
when the one-touch recording stops.To stop the recording in progress,press and hold STOP approximately 5
seconds.

To play the tape automatically
This feature allows the VCR to automatically start playing when you insert a tape with the
safety tab removed.
1. Press SETUP to display the menu.
2. Press Direction button / to Functions and press ENTER to confirm.
3. Move Direction button / to select Auto Play; press ENTER to switch between ON and
OFF
- Select ON if you want a tape with its safety tab removed to start playing automatically
when the tape is inserted.
- Select OFF if you do not want a tape with its safety tab removed to start playing
automatically.

To switch the VCR to TV or VCR mode automatically
This feature controls whether the TV/VCR switch changes automatically to the VCR mode
when the VCR is turned on.
1. Press SETUP to display the menu.
2. Press Direction button / to choose Functions and press ENTER to confirm.
3. Press Direction button / to select Auto TV/VCR, press ENTER to switch between ON
and OFF
- Select ON if you want the VCR to switch to the VCR mode when the VCR is turned on or
a cassette is inserted.This only applies if you connect the ANT.IN and RF OUT jacks of
your VCR and TV and watch your VCR on channel 3 or 4.

- Select OFF if you want the VCR to remain in the TV mode.
This is useful if you watch your VCR on the TV’s video input
and you don’t want your antenna/cable signal interrupted
by the VCR.
If two recordings overlap,
the index mark for the

you use the index feature
to find the second
program,the VCR will
skip over it.
If you record multiple

Searching a cassette tape for programs(indexing)
When you record a programs,the VCR places an index mark
at the start of the recording.To search for an index mark:
1. Press SETUP to display the menu.
2. Press Direction button / to Choose Functions. press
ENTER to confirm.
3. Press Direction button / to choose Index Search. then
press ENTER.
4. If you want to search through a certain number of index
marks,press two number buttons to enter the number of
marks you want to search.Press CLEAR on the remote to
correct an entry.
5. Press REW to search backward or FF to search forward.
The VCR will locate your index mark and begin playback.If
you did not enter a specific index number,the VCR will lo-
cate the next index mark and begin playback. Press STOP
to stop index searching.

Marking a tape for zero search
1. Use PLAY,REW,or FF to reach the point on the tape that you would like to mark as 0:00:
00.
2. Press DISPLAY to display the tape counter on the screen.
3. Press CLEAR to reset the tape counter to 0:00:00.
4. You can continue to play the tape or perform other functions with the VCR.

Duplicating video cassettes tape with another VCR
* You can duplicate a video cassette tape if you connect a second VCR to this VCR. Con-
necting another VCR to this VCR Make all connections before turning on the power. Be

* For duplicating a previously recorded tape from a camcoder, follow the camcorder
manufacturer’s instructions.

To duplicate a video cassette:
1. Load a blank video cassette tape with the safety tab intact
into the recording VCR.Press TV/AV button on the remote
control to the VIDEO 1 mode.
2. Load a previously recorded cassette into the playback VCR
or camcorder.
3. Press REC/OTR on the recording VCR,then press PAUSE/
STEP.
4. Press PLAY on the playback VCR or camcorder,then press
PAUSE/STEP.
5. Press PLAY on the playback VCR and REC/OTR on the
recording VCR simultaneously to begin the duplicating
process.

Glossary
CABLE: Cable television.
EP:Extended play,the slowest recording speed. Designed to store the maximum amount of
program material on a single video cassette.There is some degradation in picture/audio
quality.
Index Search:A feature of this VCR that automatically records an index each time recording
begins.It helps you locate a particular segment of the tape quickly and easily.
OSD:On-screen display of information pertinent to the features of the VCR.
OTR:One-touch recording,a feature that allows you to record the program you’re watching
by pressing the REC key.Each press of the key increases the recording time by 30 minutes,
up to four hours.
RF:Radio frequency,the composite audio/video signal supplied to a TV receiver (or other
video component) by an antenna or cable system.
Safety tab:The plastic tab at the back of a video tape cassette which,when removed,pre-
vents accidental erasure of a recording.
SP:Standard play,the recording speed to use when the best picture quality is of prime
importance(and when total recording time is not).

DVD PLAYER OPERATION
Basic Operation
1. Press “VCR/DVD” button on the unit or press the VCR/DVD button on the remote hand-
set to turn on DVD.
2. Press “OPEN / CLOSE ” button to load disc in disc tray.
3. Press “OPEN / CLOSE” button to close the tray.
Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces, position it with the printed title
side facing up.
Play Discs
1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE Button on the front panel and load the Disc on the tray.
The label side should be facing upwards. For a Double-sided DVD Disc, put the disc with
label A/1 up.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray and the disc will be loaded.
3. The Disc will be played automatically.
If it is a DVD disc, it will show the Menu/Title Page on the screen.
If it is a CD, it will play the first track directly.
4. Press the STOP Button if you want to stop the Disc playback You can resume playback
by pressing the PLAY button and it will start at the location where you have pressed
stopped (Resume Play).
5. Press the STOP Button twice to have the Disc really stopped.

This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio.
For DVD, the picture will become static.
For CD audio, it will become silent.
1. Press the ( || ) Button will cause the player to enter PAUSE/STEP mode.
2. Press the PLAY Button again will resume to Play State.
DVD Setup Mode
Setup Mode provides the menu for the configuration of TV DISPLAY Mode, OSD LAN-
Item selection in the SETUP menu is done by using the Direction button and the ENTER
button.
To exit the SETUP Mode to press the SETUP button again.
The initial password for PARENTAL Mode is set at 1379.
Note: To setup the TV display mode must be in stop mode.

The DVD Menu Play function is only applicable for DVD movie. User can access the Casting
information, Production History, Movie Introduction etc. directly through this function.
1. Press the DVD ROOT Button on the remote controller to enter the Root Menu.
2. Use the Direction button ( ) or input the item index through the Number keys (0-9)
to do the selection.
3. Press ENTER to confirm the selection.
PROGRESSIVE SCAN
Progressive scan creates a picture with double the scan lines of traditional component video
pictures and creates a sharper image.The advantages of progressive scan video output are
reduced picture flickering and motion artifacts as well as a sharper image on large screens.
NOTE:
The setup of Progressive scan is wrong. Press SETUP button once and RETURN button once
on remote control to restore factory settings.
Audio
This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio but with different effects.
Pressing the AUDIO Button will change the Audio channel.

This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio but with different effects. The FAST FORWARD key and FAST BACKWARD key are used to achieve fast play function.
For DVD , there are 5 different levels of speed (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x,32x). Every successive key
press will increment the speed of quick play.
For CD audio, the FORWARD/BACKWARD will perform quick rolling on the music output.
Note : Press PLAY Button at any stage will resume to normal speed.

During playback, press one of the PREV./NEXT buttons (PREVIOUS button and NEXT button)
When the PREV. button is pressed once, the pickup returns to the beginning of the
PREVIOUS playing chapter or track.
When the NEXT button is pressed once, the pickup will go to the beginning of next

Slow F.F
The Slow Forward is applicable for DVD. There are 5 steps of slow motion speed, 1/2, 1/4,
1/8, 1/16. Successive key presses will decrement the playback speed.
Note : Press Play Key to switch back to normal playback speed.

This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio but with different effects.
For DVD disc playback, user can choose to repeat the current chapter,the current title or
disc. Subsequent key press of the REPEAT key can change between these three options.
For CD, user can choose to repeat the current track or the whole disc (Repeat All).
Subsequent key press of the REPEAT key can change between these two options.
A - B
This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio. User can specify the repeating interval by
marking the starting point and the end point.
1. Press the A - B Button to mark the starting point. (Playback will continue).
2. Press the A - B Button to mark the end point. (The marked part will be repeated
automatically)
Note : Press the A - B Button during repetition will disable the Repeat mode.
Subtitle
This function is only applicable for DVD disc. It can change the subtitle language shown on
the screen.
Note : Number of subtitle available depends on the DVD disc.
Angle
Some discs may have multiple viewing angles during production. The ANGLE button is to
select the viewing angle shown on the screen.
Note : The number of Angle of View depends on the Disc.
Search
This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio. Through this function, the user can access
a specific location or a specific track by key in the target time or the track number.
1. Press the SEARCH Button Enter to search mode .
2. Input the target time though the number button (0~9) and the player will jump to the
target location immediately.

Display (Remain Time)
This function is applicable for DVD only. It will display the timing information of the playback
on the screen.
For DVD playback, subsequent key press on the DISPLAY Button will show the Title

Play
This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio. During the disc playback, when the STOP
Button is pressed once, the player will enter the Resume Play mode. At this time, if the PLAY
Button is pressed, the player will resume playback at the location where the STOP Button is
pressed. If the STOP button is pressed (i.e. STOP Button is pressed twice), the player will be
Stop.
Zoom
This function is applicable for DVD . User can enlarge or reduce a static picture or a moving
picture by pressing the ZOOM buttons. There are 6 levels of zooming (2x, 3x, 4x, 1/2x, 1/3x,
1/4x) and they can be achieved one by one through subsequent key presses on the ZOOM
button.
NOTE: User can select the portion of the picture to be enlarged by using the Direction button
( )
Program Mode
This function is applicable for DVD and CD audio. User can assign the playback sequence
according to his/her preference. For CD audio, user can assign the track sequence while for
DVD disc, user can assign both the Title and Chapter sequence.

Bookmark
This function is applicable for DVD and VCD. Through this function, user can bookmark
some locations of the video. The player can support up to 12 bookmarks.

The movie will be divided into serval parts according to the number of Titles it contains.Each

The current title will be divided into several parts with all of them have the same length in
time(10 mins). Each of the 6 sub-screens will show one of the divided parts. Each subscreen will only play the frist 4 seconds of the assigned part.
Chapter Interval
The current chapter will be divided into serval parts with all of them have the same length in
time. Each of the 6 sub-screens will show one of the divided parts. Each sub-screen will only
play the frist 4 seconds of the assigned part.
-For CD audio, this function only supports Intro Play.The player will play the first 6 seconds of each track sequentially.
Note: To switch off the digest features,choose EXIT in the Menu.

MP3 Operation
This unit can support ISO9660 file system CD-ROM navigation. Multi-Media files such as
MP3 thus can be played in the player.
Operation
Insert the MP3 disc into the tray.The navigation menu will be displayed. The menu will
show the files in the root directory, and the MP3 files can then be played automatically.
In the MP3 menu shows a blue and an orange cursor. The blue cursor indicates the
currently playing MP3 song, the orange cursor indicates a title to be selected.

You can select the other songs by the direction buttons or directly input the song number by
pressing the number keys. The orange cursor will move to the selected song. Then press
ENTER to confirm.
Note:There are three digits displayed.If you want call up a title with only one or two digits,you
can either start the entry with “0” or “00”,or can you can enter the number of the song and
then wait a few seconds until the cursor skips to the selected title.
Press the repeat button to select: Random (playback in random order),Single (play one title,
then stop), Repeat one (repeat the current title). Repeat Folder (repeat current folder)
Picture CD
Digital picture (JPEG) from a digital camera can be burnt on to a disc and played on this TV.
Insert a picture CD into the tray and the disc will be loaded automatically. If the disc type can
be identified, the player will start showing the pictures one by one (Slide Show Mode).
Operations
During Slide Show Mode: -
Press the PAUSE Button will freeze the screen so that the current picture can be held for
a long time. To resume the slide show mode, press PLAY Button.
Press the NEXT Button on the remote controller will skip the next picture.
Press the PREVIOUS Button on the remote controller will repeat the current picture.

Troubleshooting
The front panel display is blank.
Make sure the VCR is plugged in.
The power is on but the VCR does not operate.
Make sure there is a video cassette inserted in the VCR.
A timer recording failed to record on the video cassette.
Make sure the video cassette’s safety tab is in place.
Verify that you set the timer correctly.
Make sure there is a video cassette in the VCR.
Make sure the VCR is plugged in.
Picture quality during playback video cassette is poor.
Adjust the picture quality by pressing numeric button 1 and 3 /TRACKING -/+.
The head may be dirty.Use a head-cleaning tape.
Picture does not appear when you attempt to play a video cassette.
Make sure the TV and VCR are set to the same channel (channel 3,4 or video input).
Verify the connections between the VCR and the TV.
Verify that the VCR indicator is lit on the front display.
Remote control doesn’t work.
Make sure the batteries are fresh.
Make sure that you are using the remote control within the operational range-no more
than 30° either

The power switch doesn’t work.

Make sure there is not a tape already loaded into the cassette compartment.

VCR and remote control buttons don’t work.
The REW button does not work at the very beginning of a video cassette.The FF, PLAY and
REC/OTR buttons do not work at the end of a video cassette.
The VCR buzzes when it is on.
The VCR may be in standby mode and the motor is running. This sound is normal.
Video cassette recorder doesn’t rewind all the way to the end.
To avoid video cassette tape damage, the VCR stops rewinding near the end of the tape and
then slowly finishes rewinding. Do not prematurely eject the tape.
