Unpacking
The box should include an air drill, a handle,
and a handle mounting collar. Any damaged
or missing parts should be repor ted im mediately
to your JET
manual thoroughly for operation, maintenance
and safety instruc tions.
® distributor. Read this instruction
Operation
1. The drill must be properl y lubricated before
operating. See “Maintenance” section for
lubricating instructions.
2. Slide the mounting collar onto the barrel of
the drill. If it will not slide over the chuck,
wedge a flat blade screwdriver into the slit of
the mounting collar and slightly pry it open
until it will cl ear the chuc k .
3. Screw the handle onto the threads of the
mounting coll ar unt il it i s ti ght. The m ounti ng
collar and handle can be rotated to any
convenient posit ion on the barrel of t he drill
and re-tightened in place.
4. Install a bit (not provided) into the chuck,
and rotate the chuck by hand until firmly
tight. Make sure the bit is centered in the
chuck.
5. Remove the protectiv e c ap from t he air inlet,
and connect your air supply hose. Make
sure the air pressure is set to 90psi.
IMPORTANT: Connecting a quick-change
coupling directly to the Air Drill is not
recommended, as vibration may cause the
connection to fail. Instead, add a leader
hose and install any quick-change coupli ngs
farther down the li ne.
Maintenance
The drill should be lubricated daily (or before
each use) with air tool oil through the air inlet.
During conti nual operation, it shoul d be re-oiled
every 1 to 2 hours. T his can be done eit her with
an in-line oiler, or manually. If done manually,
proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the air hose fr om the drill.
2. Place four or five drops of air tool oil* into
the air inlet (Fi gur e 1) .
[*NOTE: Air tool oil not provided. It may be
purchased fr om your JET deal er, or is av ailable
at most major hardware and tool stores. SAE
#10 weight oil or sewing machine oil may be
used as a substitute. Do not use detergent oil.]
Figure 1
3. Re-connect the air. Run the drill without load
for a few seconds to distribute the oil
throughout the tool.
4. When you are finished operating the drill,
before stori ng it disconnect t he air hose and
place 4 or 5 drops of air tool oil i nto the air
inlet; r e- c onnec t the air and run the tool f or a
few seconds to distri bute the oil.
5. Avoid storing the drill in v er y humi d locations
which promotes rusting of internal
mechanisms, and always oil it before
storage.
Air Connection
1. Make sure t hat the air com pressor supplies
clean air at the correct CFM for the die
grinder.
2. Set air pressure to 90 psi.
Excess air pressure and/or
unclean air will shorten the tool’s life and
may create a hazardous situation.
3. Drain the water f r om the air c om pr essor tank
daily, as well as any conde nsation from t he
air lines. W ater in the air line may ent er the
tool and cause dam age.
4. Change filters on the air sy stem on a regular
basis.
5. Air line pressure should be increased
accordingl y to compensate f or ext ra long ai r
hoses (usually over 25 feet). I nsi de diameter
of the hose should be a minim um of 3/8”.
