- WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
Do not try to light any appliance.
Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.
Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's
instructions.
Ifyou cannot reach your gas supplier, call the
fire department.
Extinguish any open flame.

supplier.

Read before operating your cooktop
All appliances - regardlessof the manufacturer- have the potentialthrough
improperorcarelessuseto create safetyproblems. Thereforethe following
safetyprecautionsshouldbe observed:
1. Be sureyourapplianceis properlyinstalledand groundedby a qualified technician.
2. Neveruseyourapplianceforwarmingorheatingtheroom.Thiswarningis basedon safety considerations.
3. Childrenshould not be left aloneorunattended in area where applianceis
in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of the appliance.
4. Wear proper apparel. Loose-fitting or hanging garments should never be wornwhile usingthe appliance.
5. Do not repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically recommendedin thismanual. All other servicingshould be referred toan authorized Jenn-Air Service Contractor.
6. Donotstorecombustiblematerials, gasolineorotherflammablevaporsand liquid nearcooktop.
7. Do notuse wateron greasefires. Smother fire orflame orusedry chemical orfoam-type extinguisher.
8. Use only dry potholders. Moist or damppotholderson hotsurfaces may result in burnsfrom steam. Do not use a towelor other bulky cloth.
9. Selectcookware large enoughto propedycontain foodand avoidboilovers orspillovers.Thiswillsaveoncleaningandpreventhazardousaccumulations of food, sinceheavy splattering or spillovers left on a cooktopoen ignite. Pan size is especially importantin deep fat frying.
10. Never leave cooktop unattended at Hi heat settings. Boilover causes smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite.
11.TYPE OFCOOKWARE -Avoid pans thatare unstable andeasily tipped. In choosingpans, lookforeasily-graspedhandlesthatwill staycool. Pansthat
aretoo heavywhen filledwith foodcanalsobeahazard. Ifpanhandlestwist
and cannot be tightened, discard the pan.
12. HANDLES-Alwaysturn panhandlestothe sideor back ofthecooktop - not out into the room where they are easily hit. COOKWARE HANDLES
SHOULD BE TURNED INWARD AND NOT EXTEND OVER ADJACENT SURFACE BURNERS to minimize burns, ignition offlammable materials, and spillage due to unintentionalcontact with the cookware.
13. CAUTION - Do not store items of interest to children in cabinets above cooktop-childrenclimbingonthecooktoptoreachitemscouldbe seriously
injured.
14. Donot touchsurfaceburnerareas or anyareas near burners. Duringand afteruse,theseareasmaybehotenoughtocauseburns,Avoidcontactwith
theseareas by clothingor other flammablematerialsuntiltheyhave had sufficienttimetocool,
15. Do notheat unopenedfood containers. Build-upof pressuremaycause containerto burstand resultininjury.
16. Keepal/controls "OFF" when unitis notin use.
17, GREASE - Greaseis flammable andshouldbe handledcarefully. Never
leaveanycookingoperationunattended. Letfat coolbeforeattemptingto handleit. Do not allowgrease to collectaroundthe cooktop. Wipe up
spiUoversimmediately,
18. Ifthecooktopisinstallednearawindow,properprecautionsshouldbetaken
to preventcurtainsfromblowingover burnerscreating a FIRE HAZARD.
19. Donotusealuminumfoiltolineburner spi//overbowl. Restrictionofnormal
airflow may resultin unsafeoperation,
20. Clean onlypartslistedin thismanualanduseproceduresrecommended.
21. Alwaysallowhot pansto coolin a safe place outof the reachof small children.
22. A faint gasodor may indicate a gas leak. If agas odor is detected, shut off the gassupplyto thecooktop. Call your installeror localgas company to
havethe possibleleakchecked. Never use a match or other flame to locate a gas leak.
23. Flamesizeshouldbeadjustedsoitdoesnotextendbeyondthe edgeofthe cookware,This instructionis basedon safetyconsideration.
24. Thisappliancehasbeen tested for safe performanceusingconventional cookware. Do not useany devices oraccessoriesthat are notspecificafiy recommended in this manual. Do not use eyelid covers for the surface burnersor stovetopgrills. The useof devicesor accessoriesthatare not expresslyrecommendedinthismanualcancreateserioussafetyhazards, resultinperformanceproblemsandreducethelife ofthecomponentsofthe appliance.
