SI3000 Peso

The SI3000 Peso is 32 POTS port VoIP terminal adapter (Gateway). The SI3000 Peso is based on exactly the same technology as used in SI3000 MSAN platform which has been widely deployed at many operators with millions of POTS ports and has therefore achieved both excellent stability and rich functionality. The SI3000 Peso offers the same high level of quality, the same management system and the same feature set. Using the same signalling protocol it features proven interoperability with all the major softswitch vendors. The SI3000 Peso is a perfect solution, enabling operators to upgrade their cores to a next-generation IP network, while still keeping the existing subscriber infrastructure in place.

Key Features and Benefits

32 POTS port VoIP terminal adapter

Combo (RJ-45/optical SFP) Fast Ethernet uplink

SIP protocol with proven interoperability

Fanless design for noise-free operation

Temperature hardened design for reliable inbox operation (+55°C max. ambient temperature)

AC powered 1U chassis for convenient indoor installations in residential buildings and business offices, DC powered variant also available

The SI3000 Peso performs the media conversion between the circuit and packet networks, and the signaling interworking between the PSTN lines and the SIP network interfaces. It is controlled by an Iskratel softswitch SI3000 Call Server or 3rd party softswitch by means of the SIP protocol.

For the control of ports and the execution of basic and supplementary services in the TDM network the SI3000 Peso supports standard analog subscriber signaling (decadal, DTMF, 12/16 kHz meter signals, polarity reversal) on the a/b port. Audio codec’s G.711, G.723, G.726, G.729 and fax and data codec’s G.711 (A-law, 64 kb/s), G.711 (µ-law, 64 kb/s), FAX T.38 are supported. The voice packets’ length (RTP) during encoding with a particular encoder can be set via the management system.

There are two mechanisms for providing the quality of service (QoS): DiffServ on Layer 3 and CoS 802.1p/Q VLAN tagging on Layer 2. VLAN for VoIP RTP stream and signaling can be differnet from VLAN for remote management traffic. The SI3000 Peso is managed by SI3000 MNS Management System, which provides advanced management operations like fault monitoring and auto-configuration.

Due to fanless design the SI3000 Peso can be deployed in environments where noise-free operation is essential, for example in residential buildings. Deployments in such buildings often have to withstand harsh temperature conditions. Peso can work both in cold environments – for example in garages, cellars and atticks where temperature drop below zero, and extremely hot environments. This is extremely important because indoor installations are typically done in rather small and non ventilated indoor boxes together with other devices (such as ETTH switch and UPS) and a lot of cables. That inevitably means that the inbox temperature raises a lot above the air temperature in the building. SI3000 Peso is very suitable for such installations; it can reliably work at inbox temperatures even up to 55°C!
