Congratulations on your purchase of this product. Please read the instructions carefully before using the thermometer for the first time and keep these

instructions in a safe place. This product is intended for the measurement of human body temperature.

Basal body temperature (BBT)

Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your lowest body temperature in a 24-hour period. This Basal Thermometer is sensitive enough to help you keep track of minute changes in your body temperature. For BBT-charting you take your temperature first thing in the morning, preferably while you are still in bed. You can record your basal temperature on the BBT-chart that you can find on www.iProven.com/bbt-chart

Operating Instructions

2.Press the button once to switch on the device.

3.The thermometer runs a check during which all the digital segments will appear on the LCD and a soft beep will sound.

4.After this check the LCD shows --.-- ˚F (or˚C), the thermometer is now ready for use.

5.Place the thermometer in the desired measurement position (oral or rectal).

6.Wait until the measurement is taken and saved in the memory. This is indicated by 3 soft beeps.

7.Write the result in the chart directly or use the memory function later.

8.Press the button to switch off the thermometer. If the thermometer is not switched off, it will automatically switch off after 3 minutes.

2.Hold the button for 4 seconds and release it as soon as “LAST” appears in the LCD.

3.The last measurement will now be shown.

4.The thermometer will automatically switch off after 3 minutes.

Switching ˚F and ˚C

To switch to the other scale:

1.Make sure the thermometer is off. If needed press the button once to shut off.

2.Hold the button for 7 seconds (ignore “LAST” and keep holding) release the button as soon as “SET” appears.

5.Leave the button untouched for 3 seconds, the thermometer will save the setting and switch off.

Methods of measuring temperature

The accuracy of a body temperature reading depends on the position where it is measured. When charting the body temperature, always indicate the measurement position. The usual measuring time is approximately 40 to 60 seconds. A measurement is only completed when the temperature rises less than 0.05˚F(0.1ºC) within 16 seconds.

NOTE: the axillary measurement is NOT valid for Basal Body Temperature measuring.

Rectal Measurement

From a medical point of view this is the most accurate method because this position is closest to the core of the body. The thermometer tip is inserted carefully into the rectum for a maximum of 1“ (2 cm).

Oral Measurement

This is the most convenient measurement position for daily BBT measurements. There are different heat zones in the mouth. As a general rule, the oral temperature is 0.5-1.4˚F (0.3-0.8 ˚C) lower than the rectal temperature. To ensure that the reading is as accurate as possible: place the thermometer tip to the left or right of the root of the tongue. Keep the

thermometer tip constantly in contact with the tissue under the tongue. Keep your mouth closed during the reading.

Important! Eating, drinking and breathing through the mouth will influence the temperature of the mouth tissue. You will not be able to get an accurate BBT reading after eating or drinking. Also try not to breathe through the mouth within 3 minutes before taking an oral measurement.

Cleaning and disinfection

The best way to clean the thermometer tip is by applying a disinfectant (e.g. 70% ethyl alcohol) with a damp cloth. This waterproof thermometer can be immersed in liquid or lukewarm water for thorough cleaning and disinfection.

Safety precautions

Do not expose the thermometer to water hotter than 122˚F (50˚C).

Do not expose the thermometer to high temperatures or direct sunlight.

Do not drop the thermometer. It is not shock-proof nor impact-resistant.

Do not bend or open the device (except the battery compartment).

Do not clean with thinners, petrol or benzine; Only clean the thermometer with water or disinfectant.

Do not immerse the thermometer under water deeper than 15cm for longer than 30 minutes.

The thermometer contains small parts (including a

battery) which can be swallowed by children. For this reason, do not leave the thermometer unattended in the hands of children.

If the ambient temperature is over 95ºF(35ºC), dip the thermometer tip in cold water for 10 seconds prior to measuring the temperature.

Persistent fever, in particular in children, has to be treated by a doctor. If this occurs please get in touch with your doctor!
