About the Touch Screen
Do not touch the TOUCH SCREEN until the unit starts up completely. Otherwise,
the touch screen may not function correctly.
The navigation device is mainly operated by touching the buttons on the touch
screen.
If nothing happens when you touch the buttons on the touch screen, remove
your hand from the screen and touch the button again.
Do not touch any buttons that are grayed out.
When cleaning the touch screen please use a soft cloth. Do not use water, soap,
or abrasive cleansers.
Connection
Connect to Car Power
Connect the plug of the car power adapter to the DC port on the side of the GPS
Unit.
Connect the car cigarette lighter plug of the car power adapter into the car
cigarette lighter socket.

1 Getting Started
Before you use your GPS for the first time please charge it for a full 8 hours.
When turning on your GPS please be sure the on/off switch is in the ‘on’position.

1.1 Configuration Wizard
This wizard, which automatically starts the first time you use the GPS ,
easily configure the system settings by providing a step-by-step setup pr

1.2 Main Menu
This high level menu lets you access all other Software menus and the map, and is
displayed after agreeing to the Driver Warning screen or when you have
completed the Configuration Wizard.

1.2.1 Go Menu Button
When you tap the Go button, the Go menu is displayed, providing basic GPS
navigation features, such as traveling to an address, points of interest, or to a
favorite location.

When you tap the City First button, the GPS displays the
following address entry order: Address City, Address Street, and Address Number.

following address entry order: Address City screen, Address Street screen, and the Address Cross Street screen.
2.2.2.3 Change State
For North American maps, the Change State button lets you
select from a list of States.

The Enter City screen displays a list of cities to choose from. You can use the
keyboard to search the list, based on the characters entered. You can also use the
Browse keys to move through the list.

2.2.3.2 Street
The Enter Street screen displays a list of streets to choose from. City Center is

2.2.3.3 Address Number
The Enter Address Number screen displays a list of address numbers to choose
from. Street Midpoint is displayed first. You can use the keyboard to search the
list based on the characters entered.

2.2.4 Navigation Screen Buttons

Lets you scroll up or down the list of city or street names.

Lets you remove a character that you have entered.

Lets you display different keyboards, including special characters and
numbers. The operating system installed on the device must be able to
support these characters.
Note: INVION lets you search for city and street names without having
special characters, such as umlauts or accent marks, which are used in
many European languages.

Lets you extend the address list by hiding the keyboard. When the list is
expanded, tap the Show Keyboard button to display the keyboard.

Tap the OK button to move to the next address screen.
2.2.5 Go to an Address
When you have tapped the OK button from the last address screen, the Traveling
To screen is displayed. This screen displays the selected address information and the Go and Cancel buttons.

Tap the Cancel button to return to the Go Menu. Tap the Go button to instruct
INVION to calculate a route to the selected address from your current position. Tap the Back button to return to the last address entry screen.

Save – Tap this button to save the selected location to the Favorites screen.
Start Point – Tap this button to designate the selected location as the starting
point.
Demo Route – Tap this button to start a demo route to the selected location.
2.3 POI
2.3.1 Points of Interest Button
From the Go menu, tap the Points of Interest button to display the Find POI
screen.

2.3.2 Search Around Options
The Find POI screen lets you select from the following Search Around locations:
My Current Location – Search for POI near your current location.
My Destination – Search for POI locations near your destination.
Another City – When you select this option the Address Mode screen appears.

2.3.3 Search by Name
From the Find POI screen, tap the Search by Name button to display the POI
Search screen.

Enter search characters and tap the Search button. You can search with characters
that are in the middle or end of the word.

From the Find POI screen, tap the Search by Category button to display the POI
menu.

Select a POI category and subcategory to display the POI Result list. Tap the Next
button to display the entire POI Category list.

2.3.5 POI Results
The result screen displays the first six result locations based on distance (default).

You can use the Browse buttons to show the next or previous six POI location
results. Tap the Back button to return to the previous screen.
2.3.5.1 Sort by ABC/Distance
Tap the Sort by ABC button to sort the POI results alphabetically.

When the POI results are sorted alphabetically, tap the By Distance button to
display the results by distance from your current location.
2.3.5.2 Show on Map
From the POI Result screen, tap the Show on Map button to display the six
locations displayed as points on the map. Number buttons correspond to each
location.

2.3.6 Go to POI
When you have selected a POI location from the POI Result screen, the Travel To
screen appears, displaying the POI address.

return to the previous screen.

2.3.8 POI Display
You can designate POI Category icons to display on the map when you are
traveling.

2.4 Recent Locations
The GPS saves up to 64 locations. You can select a previous location to travel to.

After you have selected the recent location, tap OK to display the Travel To
screen.
This screen shows the location’s address. Tap Go to instruct the GPS to create a
route or Cancel to return to the Go menu. Tap the Back button to return to the
previous screen.

2.5 Favorites
The Favorites screen displays saved locations.

From the Travel To screen, tap the Save button to save the selected location in

2.5.4 Go to Favorite
When you have selected a favorite location either directly from the Select
Favorites screen or from a favorites group, tap OK to display the Travel To
screen. The screen shows the address of the selected location, as well as the Go
and Cancel button. Tap Cancel to return to the Go menu. Tap Go for the GPS to
start the route. Tap the Back button to return to the previous screen.
2.5.5 Favorite Groups
From the Select Favorites screen, tap the Edit button. From the Edit screen, tap
the Add Group button.

The Add Location screen appears. Enter the group name and tap OK. The Group
name is displayed in the Select Favorites screen.
Tap the Edit Group button to revise an existing group name. Tap the Delete Group button to remove the group from the Select Favorites screen.

The location indicator displays the current location on the map. The indicator’s
appearance changes among the different map view modes and whether GPS

3.4.1 Day and Night Views
You can change the map view for day or night driving.

The Day and Night views let you select between two colors schemes for the map
view area, light and dark.
From the Settings menu, tap the Day/Night View button to change the color
schemes. The button icon and text toggles between the two modes.

3.4.2 2D and 3D View
The Compass 2D and 3D buttons lets you select between a 2D or 3D map views.

3D.

The compass is a toggle button. It appears as 3D, but when you tap it, the
Compass button changes to 2D. Tap the Compass button a second time, and it changes to 2D North Up, tap it a third time and it returns to 3D.

When you open INVION, the Compass 3D button (default) is displayed and the
map appears in 3D view.

Zoom ButtonsShows Zoom Out and Zoom In buttons.
QuickNav Button Displays the QuickNav button, which you tap to
navigate to a pre-selected location.
Volume ButtonShows the Volume button.
Compass Button Displays the compass, which lets you change the map
view.
See Next Maneuver Shows the next street name
See Lane Guidance Shows a large image that indicates your next maneuver,
such as left turn or right exit.
See Arrival Data Displays estimated time of arrival.
See Power InfoReveals an icon indicating whether your device is
plugged in or running on battery.
Use Auto ZoomWhen selected, the zoom is speed dependent. The map
zooms out at higher speeds, displaying a larger map
area, and zooms in at slower speeds, displaying a
smaller map area.
Larger Labels Increases the size of street names to make the map
easier to read.
Screen-Tap Popup Displays the navigation popup menu when tapping on a
map location.
3.7 Browse Map Mode
You can disconnect the GPS receiver, so that you can search for a location on the
Map screen without the software centering the map to your current location.
3.7.1 Browse Map Button
From the Settings menu, tap the Free Map Browse button to start the Map
Browse mode.

The GPS prompts you to confirm that you want to disable GPS to browse the map.
When you tap “Yes”, the GPS displays the Map screen in Browse Map mode. Tap
and drag the map to move it. Tap the Browse Map bar to enable GPS.

3.8 Select Map Screen

The Select Map screen displays maps that have been installed to your device. The
map is identified by map name, map provider, and version. The current map is
always as the first map.

The GPS provides the following options:
Refresh – If you have installed a map while running the software, it will not appear
unless you tap Refresh.
Delete – To remove a map, select it and tap Delete. A warning message appears,
prompting you to verify that you want to remove the selected map.
OK – To designate another map as the current map, select the map and tap OK.

button to remove the selected turn. The GPS automatically recalculates the route

4.6.3 Route Modes Screen
The second Road Type screen, lets you select from the following route types:
Vehicle-Quickest – Instructs the GPS to generate the quickest route when
generating a route to a selected location.
Vehicle-Shortest – Instructs the GPS to generate the shortest route, which may not
be the quickest.
Pedestrian – Instructs the GPS to generate a route suitable for a pedestrian. The
following rules apply to Pedestrian routes:
Generates a route up to ten kilometers (approximately 6 miles), which is not limited
by vehicle constraints, such as one way streets.
When creating a pedestrian route, the GPS avoids highways or other roads where
pedestrians would not travel.
Voice prompts are deactivated in this mode.
4.7 Create Detour
4.7.1 Create Detour Menu Button
From the Route menu, tap the Create Detour button to display the Detour screen.

4.7.2 Create Detour Screen
The Detour screen lets you select a detour distance to instruct the GPS to calculate
an alternate route to avoid a road event, such as an accident. This detour will affect
only the current route and once the route is completed or cancelled, the detour will no
longer be in effect.

Arriving Lets you know that you have has arrived at your

Say Road NamesThe GPS announces the road name that you are turning
onto. Note: This option requires Text-To-Speech
functionality.
Route RecalculationNotifies you of route recalculations. For example, when
you miss a turn.
GPS Not FoundWarns that no GPS signal is found.
Unreliable GPS Signal Warns that the GPS signal is too low and unreliable for
navigation.
Button ClickLets you here a click when tapping a button or a point on
the map.

The list of supported languages can be downloaded from Tobe Dock or can be
automatically installed, depending on the the software build.
Tap OK to save your language settings. Tap the Back button to return to the Settings
menu without saving your settings.
5.10 Time Settings
You can select the time zone to use and whether to automatically adjust for Daylight
Savings Time. The correct time settings are taken from the GPS signal.

5.11 QuickNav
The QuickNav module is a handy shortcut that allows you to set a route to a
predefined location or point of interest in a single button tap. For example, you can set
the button to his home or hotel, or to the nearest gas station.

The location can be either a predefined single address, or a point of interest category.
Selecting the GO To Predefined Address radio button enables the Set Address
button. Tapping the Set Address button opens the Enter Address screen of the
address module, and lets you select a destination address.
Selecting the GO To Nearest POI in Category radio button enables the Set POI Category button. Tapping the Set POI Category button opens the POI Categories
screen from the Points of Interest module to let you specify a POI category.
Tap OK to save QuickNav settings. Tap the Back button to return to the Settings
menu.
5.11.3 QuickNav Button on Main Map
When you tap the QuickNav button on the Map screen for the first time,
the GPS opens the QuickNav Settings screen. After you have selected a QuickNav location, you can automatically start a route to that location by
tapping this button.
5.12 Look & Feel
This feature lets you select the background screen color and type of keyboard.

5.13 Select Map
This feature lets you display the maps that are installed on your device. For more
information, see Section 3.8 Select Map Screen on page 27.
5.14 Start Demo
From the Settings 3 of 3 menu, tap the Start Demo button to display the Map screen
running the simulated route.

To end the demo, tap the Menu button and then the Stop Demo button. While the
demo is running, all other GPS features are disabled.

Press POWER button to turn on the unit. The main menu screen will be displayed as

1. Notices, Disclaimers, and Terms of Use
1. Limited Product Warranty. SP by Design Inc warrants to the Client that the Products shall
substantially conform to SP by Design Inc’s specification for a period of 90 days from the date of
the original purchase by the end user (the "Warranty Period"). As SP by Design Inc's sole obligation
and Client's exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty, SP by Design Inc agrees, at its sole option,
to (i) use reasonable efforts to repair the Product with new or refurbished replacement parts;
(ii) replace
the Product with a new or refurbished unit; or (iii) refund the purchase price, provided Client returns
the defective Products to SP by Design Inc with proof of purchase and SP by Design Inc's authorization.
SP by Design Inc's warranty hereunder does not apply in case of any damage caused by accident, abuse,
misuse, misapplication, or alteration of any kind performed by anyone other than SP by Design Inc. The
Products are not designed or licensed for use in mission-critical applications, or i
n hazardous
environments, requiring fail-safe controls, including without limitation operation of nuclear facilities,
aircraft navigation or communication systems, air traffic control, or life support or weapons systems.
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, SP by Design Inc specifically disclaims any express or
implied warranty or condition of fitness for such purposes. SP by Design Inc's warranty does not, in any
event, apply to physical damage to the surface of the Product or rep
lacement. SP by Design Inc shall
have no obligation with respect to any data stored in the Product.
Except as expressly stated in this section, SP by Design Inc makes no warranties or includes any
conditions with respect to the products, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied
warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and no infringement.
2. Liability Limitation. In no event shall SP by Design Inc be liable to Client, (and Client hereby waives
any
indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages in connection with) the transactions
contemplated by this agreement, whether or not such damages were foreseen, or their likelihood
disclosed. SP by Design Inc shall not be liable to Client or any third party claiming through Client, for
any damages of any kind in excess of the amounts paid by Client under the terms of this agreement
with respect to the products giving rise to such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion
of or limitation on im
plied conditions, warranties or damages, thus some of the foregoing may not apply
to Client.
3. Intellectual Property Rights. Hardware and Software are proprietary to SP by Design Inc or i ts
suppliers and are subject to copyright and other intellectual property laws. Client’s only rights with
respect to any SP by Design Inc software included with the Products shall be provided, under the terms
of SP by Design Inc's software license. The title to all SP by Design Inc Software remains w
ith SP by
Design Inc. Client agrees that SP by Design Inc retains ownership of all rights, title and interest in all
intellectual property, works of authorship, trade secrets and like’s in all aspects of the Product(s). Client
and its affiliates and subcontractors agree not to reverse engineer any aspect of the Software and/or
Products supplied under this agreement and further agree to pay assessed damages should such action
take place.
4. Copyright and Copies. The Software (including any copy thereof) is owned by SP by Design Inc or its
suppliers and is protected by United States, Canada, European, Brazilian and Australian copyright and
patent laws and international treaty provisions. The Software copy is licensed to you the client, not sold
to you, and you (the client) are not an owner of any copy thereof. You may make one copy of the
software for backup or archival purposes. You may not otherwise copy the software,
except as
authorized by applicable law, nor the written materials accompanying the Software. SP by Design Inc
hereby reserves all rights not explicitly granted in this license agreement.

3. Safety advice
Failure to avoid the following potentially hazardous situations could result in an accident or collision
resulting in death or serious injury.
When installing the unit in a vehicle, place the unit securely so that it does not interfere with vehicle
operating controls or obstruct the driver's view of the road.
Do not mount where the driver’s field of vision is blocked.
Do not place unsecured on the vehicle dash.
Do not mount in front of an airbag field of deployment.
When navigating, carefully compare information displayed on the unit to all available navigation
sources, including information from street signs, visual sightings, and maps. For safety, always resolve
any discrepancies or questions before continuing navigation.
Always operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Do not become focused on the unit while driving and
always be fully aware of all driving conditions. Minimize the amount of time spent viewing the screen of
the unit while driving and use the voice commands when possible. Do not input destinations, change
settings, or access any functions that require prolonged use of the unit's controls while driving. Pull
over and come to a complete stop before attempting any such operations.
Do not expose the unit to excessive heat or throw the device into fire.
Old appliances do not belong in the household waste. Dispose of old appliances correctly. Your local
administration can give you information about collection locations and opening times.
Packaging materials are raw materials and can be used again. Separate the packaging and in the
interest of the environment dispose of it properly. Further information is available from your local
administration.

4. Caution

This unit is designed to provide you with route suggestions. It does not reflect road closures or road
conditions, traffic conditions, weather conditions, or other factors that may affect safety or timing while
driving.
Use the unit only as a navigational aid. Do not attempt to use the unit for any purpose requiring precise
measurement of direction, distance, location or topography. This product should not be used to
determine ground proximity for aircraft navigation.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by the United States government, which is solely
responsible for its accuracy and maintenance. The government's system is subject to changes which
could affect the accuracy and performance of the unit. Although the unit is a precision navigation device,
any navigation device can be misused or misinterpreted and therefore, become unsafe.
Important Information
Map Data Information: Virtually all data sources contain inaccurate or incomplete data to some
degree. This is particularly true outside the United States, where complete and accurate digital data is
either not available or prohibitively expensive.
Notice to drivers in California and Minnesota: State law prohibits drivers in California and
Minnesota from using suction mounts on their windshields while operating motor vehicles. SP by
Design Inc takes no responsibilities for any fines, penalties or damages that may be incurred as a
result of disregarding this notice. (See California Vehicle Code Section 26708 (a); Minnesota Statues
2005, Section 169.71.)
5. FCC compliance
The unit complies with Part 15 of the FCC interference limits for Class B digital devices for HOME OR
OFFICE USE. The limits are designated to provide more reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation and are more stringent than "outdoor" requirements.
Operation of this device is subject to the following conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference.
2. This device must accept any interference received including interference that may cause undesired
operation.
This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with these instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However,
