INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on purchasing the Bragg Book
Digital Photo Album. This unit lets you view
digital pictures directly from your camera's
memory cards. No computer, digital camera or
Internet connection is needed. You can display a
single selected picture, or create a slide show of
all the pictures on a memory card, using multiple
transition effects. You can also display the
internal clock/calendar.
The Bragg Book includes 128 Mbytes of memory for storing your photo
files. You can transfer files from your camera’s memory cards, or from a PC
using the USB cable provided.
Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly, and keep it for
future reference. This manual will help you use many of the exciting and
useful features that will make your Bragg Book viewing more enjoyable.
The Bragg Book is compatible with the following popular memory card
formats: SD™ and MultiMediaCard™ (MMC) Picture Cards.

UNPACKING AND PREPARATION FOR USE
Your Bragg Book Digital Photo Album is easy to use!
• Remove the Bragg Book and USB cable from the carton.
• You must charge the Bragg Book’s internal battery before using the
unit (see “Charging the Battery” on page 7 for details).
• By default, all photos copied to the Bragg Book’s internal memory are
stored in a common (root) directory. If desired, you can create eight
photo “albums” for separating and storing your photos (see
“Formatting the Internal Memory” on page 17 for details).
• Included in the box is a rubber memory card slot cover. This cover
protects the memory card slot when a memory card is not inserted
into the Bragg Book. Please note that when a memory card is

inserted into the Bragg Book the rubber cover will not fit into the
slot. To use the cover the memory card must be removed.

USING THE FRAME
Charging the Battery
You must charge the Bragg Book’s internal battery before using the unit. The
battery is charged through an available USB port on your computer. Your
computer must be turned ON to charge the battery.
1. Turn your computer ON. Turn the Bragg Book OFF.
2. Connect the Mini-B connector of the USB cable to the USB connector on
the Bragg Book. Connect the remaining end of the cable to an available
USB port on your computer. DO NOT TURN THE BRAGG BOOK ON.
3. The CHARGE indictor will light to indicate the internal battery is being
charged.
4. When the battery is fully charged, the CHARGE indicator will turn off.
5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and Bragg Book.
6. A battery indicator symbol will display in the top left hand
corner of the Bragg Book when you turn the Bragg Book on. This
indicator will advise if your battery needs charging. Please note this
indicator will not display when the book is in ‘Viewing Photos’ mode or in
‘Slide Show’ mode.
7. There is also an USB AC adapter that can be used with the USB cable to
charge the Bragg book. Connect the Mini-B connecter of the USB cable
to the Bragg Book. Connect the remaining end of the USB cable to the
USB port in the AC Adapter. Then plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.

The Bragg Book must be OFF while charging. A red CHARGE indicator
will light while the battery is charging. When the battery is fully charged
the CHARGE indicator will turn off.
Installing the Memory Card
When no memory card is installed in the Bragg Book, the unit will display any
photos saved to internal memory. When a memory card is installed, the unit
will display photos from the memory card.
1. Remove the memory card from your digital camera. Refer to the User’s
Guide for your digital camera for instruction to safely remove the memory
card from the camera.
2. Insert the memory card into the Memory Card slot in the side of the Bragg
Book. BE SURE the label on the memory card faces the back of the unit.
The memory card should slide easily into the slot. DO NOT force the
memory card into the slot, Forcing the card may damage the Bragg Book
or the memory card.
If the memory card does not slide easily into the slot, BE SURE you are
using a supported memory card, and that the card is oriented properly.
Viewing Photos
The buttons on the Bragg Book
provide all the controls needed for
operation of the unit.
When your memory card is properly
installed in the Bragg Book, turn the
POWER switch ON. The unit
displays the “thumbnails” screen.

The “thumbnails” screen shows a preview of all photos contained on the
memory card. If a memory card is not installed, the “thumbnails” screen shows a
preview of all photos in the frame’s internal memory.
If you have formatted the unit’s internal memory (see “Formatting the Internal
Memory” on page 17 for details), the “thumbnails” screen shows six of the
eight available “albums.” Use the UP

The Bragg Book includes several features that let you customize the way the
unit operates to suit your tastes. Two menus are provided to access these
optional features:

•Main Setup Menu – The Main Setup Menu is accessed from the
“thumbnails” screen. This menu contains settings that are applied to
all photos on your memory card.
•Photo Setup Menu – The Photo Setup Menu is accessed while the
frame is in the “Single Photo” display mode. This menu contains
settings that are applied to the currently displayed photo only.
Viewing Selected Photos
Normally, when viewing photos in “Slide Show” display mode, the Bragg Book
shows all photos on your memory card or in a selected album. If you wish, you
can choose to display a “Slide Show” of selected photos only.
1. Access the “thumbnails” screen for your memory card or the desired
album.
2. Use the UP or DOWN button to highlight the first photo you wish
to select.
3. Press the SETUP button to display the Main Setup Menu.
4. Use the UP or DOWN button to highlight Mark, then press the
PLAY/PAUSE
• The Main Setup Menu closes, and a checkmark displays in the
upper right corner of the “thumbnail.”

USING THE MAIN SETUP MENU
The Main Setup Menu is accessed from the “thumbnail” screen. The Main
Setup Menu lets you make changes to features that affect all photos on your
memory card. To access the Main Setup Menu, display the “thumbnails”
screen then, press the SETUP
The Main Setup Menu lets you:
• Enable or disable the Full Screen option
• Set the slide show transition effect and timing interval
• Copy photos to and delete photos from the unit’s internal memory
• Set the “Slide Show” to display selected photos only
• Set the display language
• Adjust the display brightness, contrast, color and tint
• Return settings to their default values
Enabling and Disabling the Full Screen Option
Depending on the original size of your photos, the photos may not completely
fill the screen. The Full Screen feature lets you digitally “stretch” your photos
to fill the full screen. The Full Screen option only affects the way the photos

Setting Up the Slide Show
The Slide Show Effect feature lets you select the transition effect used when
the display changes from one photo to the next. The Bragg Book includes 8
transition effects. Try each transition to find the ones that best suit your tastes!
The default selection for the Slide Show Effect is Off.

The Slide Show Speed feature lets you set the length of time each photo
displays before transitioning to the next photo. The available intervals are Fast,
Medium and Slow.

By default, all photos copied to the Bragg Book’s internal memory are saved
to a common (root) directory. If desired, you can use the Format Nand
feature to create eight “albums” for categorizing your photos.

Compressing Photos
The Bragg Book includes a “compression” utility that reduces the size of the
photo files in internal memory, allowing you to store a greater number of
photos in the Bragg Book’s internal memory.
The Compress feature compresses all photos saved to the Bragg Book’s
internal memory. File compression cannot be undone.
1. From the “thumbnails” screen, press the SETUP button to display the
Main Setup Menu.
2. Use the UP or DOWN button to highlight Compress, then press
the PLAY/PAUSE

Adjusting System Settings
The System feature lets you set the Bragg Book’s display language, and
adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and hue of your photos. You may
also reset system setting to their default values.
Setting the Display Language
The Language feature lets you select the display language for the menus,
prompts, and other text information shown on the Bragg Book. The available
languages are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
The default selection for the Language is English.

Color adjustments made from the Main Setup Menu are applied to all photos
on your memory card or in the Bragg Book’s internal memory.

The Reset Settings feature lets you reset System options to their
factory-default settings.

to the User’s Guide for your digital camera for instructions on saving photos to
your computer or other storage media.

Zooming and Rotating
The Zoom feature lets you change the magnification of the currently
displayed photo. You can “zoom” the photo through five magnification levels.
The Zoom feature can be used only while the frame is in “Single Photo”
display mode. The Zoom feature is not supported when the frame is in “Slide
Show” display mode.
1. With the frame in “Single Photo” display mode, locate the desired photo,
then press the SETUP button to display the Photo Setup Menu.

The Rotate feature can be used only while the frame is in “Single Photo”
display mode. The Rotate feature is not supported when the frame is in “Slide

1. With the frame in “Single Photo” display mode, locate the desired photo,
then press the SETUP button to display the Photo Setup Menu.

USING THE CLOCK/CALENDAR
The Bragg Book includes an internal clock/calendar function. The clock/
calendar can be viewed only from the “thumbnails” display. To view the
clock/calendar, access the “thumb-nails” display, then press and hold the
SETUP
Setting the Current Date and Time
The Clock Setting feature lets you set the current calendar date and time.
The Bragg Book uses a “24-hour” clock (0:00 ~ 11:59 = AM, 12:00 ~ 23:59 =
PM).

DOWNLOADING FILES TO THE FRAME
The Bragg Book provides 128 Mbytes of internal memory for storage of photo.
If you do not wish to store your photos in the Bragg Book’s internal memory,
you must install a memory card containing the desired photos. The Bragg
Book offers two options for downloading files tot he frame’s internal memory:
• You can copy selected files from a currently installed memory card or
other memory device. No additional hardware is required to use this
option. See “Copying Files from a Memory Card” on page 13 for
details.
• You can copy files from a personal computer (PC). A computer
connection and USB-A to Mini-B cable (provided) are required to
download files from a PC to the frame’s internal memory.
REMEMBER!
Photo files must be in .JPG format. Files of other formats will not display in the
Bragg Book.
Downloading Files from a PC
Turn the Bragg Book OFF.

2. Connect the Mini-B connector of the USB cable to the USB connector on
the Bragg Book. Connect the remaining end of the cable to an available
USB port on your computer.
3. Turn the Bragg Book ON.
• The Bragg Book adds a removable disk to the “My Computer”
directory.

4. Double-click the internal memory removable disk icon, the open the
folder contained on the disk.
5. Copy the desired photo files from your PC to the desired “album” folder
using standard practices for your PC.
6. When all desired photos/files have been copied to the folder, turn the
Bragg Book OFF, and disconnect the USB cable.
Renaming Albums
When you format the Bragg Book’s internal memory (see “Formatting the
Internal Memory” on page 17 for details), eight “albums” are created for
categorizing your photos. These “albums” are named Album1 through Album8
by default. If desired, you can rename the albums with more descriptive names.
The Bragg Book must be connected to a PC in order to rename the “albums.”
1. Refer to “Downloading Files from a PC” (page 26), steps 1 through 4 to
display the “albums” in the Bragg Book’s internal memory.
2. Using the right-hand mouse button, click the “album” you wish to rename.
• A “shortcut” menu displays.
3. Using the left-hand mouse button, select Rename from the “shortcut”
menu.
• The “album” name is highlighted.
4. Type a new name for the “album”, then press the <Enter> key on your
PC.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Use the following guidelines to keep your Bragg Book in good operating
condition, and to avoid possible damage to the unit.
• DO NOT or place the unit where it may be affected by harsh
environmental conditions (such as near an open window, or on a
“screened” patio).
• DO NOT use liquid cleaners or abrasives on the Bragg Book. Clean
dust from the unit and LCD display by wiping with a clean, dry cloth.
• Keep your Bragg Book out of sunlight. Direct sunlight may cause
damage to the unit.
• DO NOT open the case of the Bragg Book. There are no user
serviceable parts inside. Opening the case will void your warranty.
• Do not use the Bragg Book if conditions could allow condensation to
occur, or damage may result.
• Your Bragg Book is a complicated electronic device and cannot
withstand excessive shock. TAKE CARE when moving the unit to
avoid dropping or otherwise jarring the unit.

Q: Why won’t some of my photos display on the Bragg Book?
A: The Bragg Book is designed to show photos following Joint
Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format. This is the same
camera industry standards format as digital cameras. Images,
such as web images, scanned images, or photos in RAW format
are not stored according to camera industry standards and cannot
be displayed correctly on the Bragg Book. Most graphics software
applications will let you convert images stored in incompatible
formats to the JPEG format. Refer to the documentation provided
with your software application for details.
