SC-9216R
SPEAKER LINE CHECKER
9. Depress the OP MODE button several times to navigate to the TEST INTERVAL SET display. Set a new Test
Interval using the four CURSOR buttons and then depress ENTER. The new Test Interval time will be indicated
on the display. The display will then change to reveal the time remaining until the next test. Maximum time is
24 hours, minimum time is 1 minute. The default setting is 1 hour.
10. The SC-9216R will conduct a test automatically according to the Test Interval setting as indicated on the
display screen. The test will result in either “normal” or “fault found”. If all channels tested normally, the
product will display the Test Interval screen and begin the count down until the next test. If one or more faults
were identified in the test, these will be indicated in the display as described in step 11.
11. The Fault (or problem) associated with any channel(s) which failed the test will be indicated in the display
along with a recommendation to have the channel(s) serviced. This Fault display mode will remain in effect
until the next automatic test sequence or until the Op Mode button is depressed. All displays except for the
fault display will eventually return to the test Interval display.
- ROUTINE OPERATION
Operating an existing system.
1. Switch ON the AC mains to the SC-9216R using the POWER button on the front panel. The display will flash
the product description three times and then indicate the time remaining until the next automatic test. The SC9216R will function properly with the amplifier(s) and/or other system components OFF or ON. Other system
electronics may be switched ON and the sound system will operate normally whether or not the SC-9216R is
switched ON.
2. A clicking sound may be heard as a test is conducted on each channel. This sound is normal (caused by
relays sequencing) and is not a cause for concern.
3. If all channels test normally the display will indicate the time remaining until the next test.
4. If a fault is detected on one or more channels the Fault indicator will illuminate, the Buzzer will sound, and the
display will indicate “Fault Found”. The Buzzer will sound continuously for the remainder of the test and then
will cycle on/off repeatedly once the test is complete. At this time the BUZZER may be switched off using the
BUZZER OFF button.
5. The Fault (or problem) associated with any channel(s) which failed the test will be indicated in the display
along with a recommendation to have the channel(s) serviced. This Fault display mode will remain in affect
until either the next automatic test or until the Op Mode button is depressed. All displays except for the fault
display will eventually return to the display that indicates the time remaining until the next test.
6. Steps 2-4 will repeat automatically according to how the Time Interval has been set. See step 8 in the Initial
Operation instructions to change the Time Interval.
7. The SC-9216R may be switched OFF (and back ON again) at anytime without affecting system performance.
- ADVANCED OPERATION
This section assumes and requires that the reader clearly understands both the Initial Operation and the Routine
Operation instruction.
SC-9216R Advanced Overview
Reference Parameters
The SC-9216R has the ability to “look” at a speaker system (or load), check the impedance on the line, and store
that impedance as a reference value to compare against future impedance tests. The reference impedance may
not agree with other “outside” impedance measurements or calculations for a variety of reasons, but most
importantly because the SC-9216R conducts the measurements at approximately 15kHz which normally is not
the frequency used to determine the impedance of a loudspeaker. The test voltage is 5 Volts and of a duration of
