NOTE : The Evolution mo dels gr ind much fi ner than any other d ispos er. For this re ason you m ay notice t hat it takes a little longe r to grind some foo d waste. D ue to the Evolution 20 0 model’s mi cropro cess or, users will exper ience a f ractional second del ay when st arti ng on all Evolution 200 mod els. Th is is comp letely n ormal.

the food waste disp oser.
1. Turn mou nting as sembl y over (se e Figure 2.1) and loosen three mountin g screws (1) u ntil you ca n access snap ring (2 ).
2. Use s crewdriver to pr y snap ri ng off of sink flang e. Mounti ng assemb ly will now c ome apa rt.
3. Set mou nting as sembl y aside. This will be used in Instru ction 5.

2. Dis conne ct drai n trap fro m dispo ser waste discha rge tube w ith adjusta ble pliers (s ee Figure 3.1). Also di sconn ect dishwasher d rain connec tion, if a pplica ble.
3. Sup port disposer with on e hand and inser t end of wr enchette or screwdriver into right sid e of one mou nting lug on lower mo unting ring (see Figur e 3.2) . Lift d ispos er sligh tly and re move from mounting by pushing or pullin g wrenc hette or s crewdr iver to lef t (dis poser may be heavy ; provid e support) .
4. Loo sen thre e mount ing screws, pry s nap rin g off with screwdr iver, and remove o ld mounting ass embly ( see Fig ure 3.3 ). Some mounting assemb ly removal requi res addi tional tools.
5. Push old sink flan ge up through sink hole (se e Figure 3.4). Skip ahe ad to Instruction 5.

DISCONNECT SINK DR AIN

1. Loo sen nut (1) a t top of trap (4) with pipe wrench (s ee Figu re 4.1).
2. Loo sen nut ( 2) at to p of extension pip e. Remove ex tensi on pipe.
3. Loo sen nut ( 3) at b ase of sink flange.
4. Push sink flan ge up thro ugh sink h ole and remove it ( see Figu re 4.2).
5. Cle an sink fla nge are a of any put ty or other debris.
NOTE: The sink hole may have to be enlarged to accept the dis poser sink flang e. Sink ho le enlargement tools ar e availab le from yo ur InSinkE rator De aler.

1. Place o ne of two rubbe r gaskets ( 2) under si nk flange (1). Ensure si nk hole area is clear o f debri s and plac e sink fla nge/ gasket into sink ho le. You may wish to place a weighted object in the sink to hold th e sink flange in pl ace. (Place a towel under object to prevent s cratchin g.)
2. Work ing from u nder th e sink, sl ip second rubber gasket (2) , fiber gasket (optional) (3) and m etal backup ring (4) ( flat side u p) over th e sink flang e.
3. Hol ding sec ond rub ber gas ket, fibe r gasket ( option al) an d metal backup ri ng in plac e, slip mo unting r ing (5 ) over sin k flange so it seats against backup r ing.
4. With the rubb er gaske t, fiber gasket (o ptiona l), ba ckup ring, and mountin g ring tig ht again st sink bottom, slide snap ring (7 ) onto sink flange unt il it pops i nto groove o n flange.
5. Tig hten three mount ing scre ws (6 ) up to sink u ntil mounting as sembly is seated t ightly a nd evenly a gains t sink.

THE SI NK OVER FLOW
The sink overflow m ay be connected to the overflow tube on t he tailpi pe (se e Figure 7.2) . Remove t he overfl ow conne ctor ca p and blue pla stic se al from th e end of the overflow t ube (see Figur e 7.3). Utilizi ng the nut, connect the over flow hos e to the tail pipe.
NOTE : The str aight dischar ge tube fo r use in Australi a does not have an over flow con necti on tube. In t he UK, wa ste trap k it, whic h does not include the sink ove rflow kit, is avail able fr om your local InSink Erator dealer.

3. Posi tion dis poser w ith thre e mounti ng tabs (1) a ligne d in positio n to slide ove r mounting tracks (2) . (See Figure 8.2)
4. Lif t disposer, inse rt top en d (mounting ga sket) into mounti ng assemb ly, and turn l ower moun ting rin g to right ( with wrenchette or ad justable plie rs) un til moun ting tab s lock over ridges ( 3) on mounting ring tr acks (s ee Figure 8.3) . Make s ure all three mounti ng tab s are lo cked ove r ridg es. Di spose r will now hang by it self.

• Do no t use plum ber’s put ty on any other disposer connec tion other th an on sink fl ange. Do not use thread sealants o r pipe dope. Th ese may harm disp oser and cause p roper ty da mage.
• Reg ularl y inspect dispo ser and p lumbing fittin gs for wate r leaks, as water leaks can c ause pr oper ty damage. Manufactu rer can not be held responsible for property damage as a result of water leaks.

ON/ OFF CON TROL
There a re two ty pes of co ntrols for continuous-feed dis poser s: a double -pole switch an d an air swi tch (built in for Evo lution 20 0, Evolution 100, and Mo del 65 ; availab le as an accesso ry on al l other mo dels ).
Doub le Pole S witc h (1) : If a wall swi tch (not supplied) is re quire d for your in stall ation, it must have on/off ma rking s and be installe d by a quali fied trad eper son. It should b e locate d in a conve nient po sition above the wo rk sur face with a minimum of 3 mm contact s epara tion between each pole ( 20 ADP switches to BS 3 676). In New Zealand, ple ase refe r to AS/ NZS 3000 :20 07 for ele ctric al installation. Connect to a 13 amp ea rth (grounded) wall socket (2) using a 13 amp cable. (See Figure 11.1)

Air Sw itch ( Evolution 2 00, E volut ion 10 0, Mod el 65, Mode l 55-1B A/ S, 55-3 B A/S and 45 -1B A/S ):
The Evolu tion 200 , Evolutio n 100, and Mo del 65 disposers inclu de a built-in air switc h (Satin Nickel a nd Chrome finishes). An air swi tch activates/turns of f the unit by sending a pulse of air to the co ntrol box .
AIR SWI TCH INS TALLATION
The air sw itch inc ludes t wo diffe rent bu tton fini shes. If you wish to change the button finish ( optio nal) , simply pry of f the exis ting but ton and sna p the other button fi nish onto the bellows. (S ee Figur e 11.2)
1. Dri ll a 33 mm wid e hole into the kitch en work top, or the cor ner of the sink unit, at the most conve nient point for use. Some s ink unit s may alrea dy have a sui table ho le in them w hich ca n be expos ed by removing the cap.
2. Rem ove the nut f rom the pu sh butt on bellows, while ke eping the stainle ss stee l washer and rubber gasket in plac e. Push on e end of the PVC tubing onto the s pout of th e push button bel lows, feed the other end o f the tube through t he hole in the work top a nd throu gh the nut und ernea th the work top. (Se e Figure 11.3)
3. Fit th e push bu tton be llows in the hole and t hen screw up the nut undern eath the wo rk top unt il it is han d tight. D o not us e a wren ch to tigh ten th e nut. (See F igure 11.4)
4. Take the other end of th e air tube a nd firml y push it ove r the spo ut of the air swi tch, which is loca ted on the u nders ide of the wa ste disposer. (See Fi gure 11.5)
DISA BLING T HE AIR SWITCH
The air sw itch can b e disab led if wal l switch op eration is preferred. The disposer is shippe d with the switch in th e “off ” pos ition.
1. Push one end of t he PVC tubing provid ed onto the spout of t he push button b ellows. ( See Fi gure 11.3)

• To reduce the risk of injury by materials that are expellable by a waste disposer, do not ope rate Evolution disposers witho ut the sound baffle in place (See Figure 8.4). Place stopper in sink opening as shown in Figure 12.2 or 12.4. Do not put the fo llowing into a dis poser: cl am or oyster shells, caustic drain clea ners or sim ilar produ cts, gla ss, china, o r plast ic, larg e (whole) bones, metal (such as bottle caps, steel shot, tin cans, or utens ils), hot grease or other hot liquids.
• Replace sound baffle /mounting gasket/splash baffle when worn to help prevent entry or ejection of material and water.
• Whe n not usin g dispo ser, leave sto pper in place to reduce ris k of objects falling into disposer. Make s ure disp oser power switch i s turned off.
• Before pres sing re set but ton, attempting to clear jam, or rem oving objects from in side dis poser, make sure dis poser p ower switc h is turned off.
• Do no t inser t hands or finger s into dis poser.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (EVOLUTION 200 AND EVOLUTION 100)
1. Remove strainer basket and plug from sink opening and run cold water.
2. Turn on wal l switch or p ress air switch ( see Fig ure 12.1) to start d ispos er.
3. Slow ly inse rt food waste into d isposer and po sition s traine r basket and plug in u prigh t positi on (allowing water to run through ) to minimize n oise and possib le ejec tion of ma terial w hile grinding (See Fi gure 12.2) .
4. Af ter grin ding is co mplete, t urn disposer of f and ru n water for at least 15 sec onds to flu sh drain line.

• Don’t fill disposer with a lot of vegetable peels all at once. Instead, turn the water and disposer on first an d then feed the peels in gradually.

CLEA NING D ISPOS ER
Over time, greas e/fo od par ticle s may accu mulate in t he grind chamber and baf fle, causing an u nplea sant odor. To clean the disp oser:
1. Turn of f dis pose r and dis conne ct power supply.
2. Rea ch throu gh sink op ening a nd clean under side of sp lash baffle and insid e upper li p of grind c hambe r with scouring p ad.
3. Plac e stoppe r in sink opening a nd fill sin k halfway with warm water.
4. Mix 6 0 ml baking soda wi th water. Turn disp oser on a nd remove stop per fro m sink at same time to wash away loose pa rticl es.
RELE ASIN G DISP OSER JA M
If the moto r stops wh ile the dis poser i s opera ting, the dispos er may be jam med. To relea se jam :
1. Turn disposer p ower and wa ter off.
2. Ins ert on e end of the s elf-se rvic e wrench ette into the center hole on the b ottom of t he dispo ser (s ee Figure 12.5). Work the wrenchette bac k and for th until i t turns one full revo lution . Remove wre nchet te.
3. Rea ch into the d ispos er with tongs and re move obje ct( s). A llow the dispo ser moto r to cool fo r 3 - 5 minutes and ligh tly push red rese t button on the disposer bottom ( see Figure 12.6). (If the motor re mains i noperative, che ck the se rvic e panel fo r tripped circui t breake rs or blow n fuses .)
