4_5 Installing SAM (Secure access

4_9 Installing 2nd SIM for GPRS

5_Installing a paper roll

Your terminal is supplied with one p aper roll. Wh en the pap er roll is nearing the e nd, a red line will app ear on the p aper; this indicates that the pape r roll must be replaced.

CAUTION

Use only paper approved by the man ufact urer (diameter 40 mm). Use of unsuitable paper is likely to damage th e printer of you r terminal (see paper characteristics at “Maintenance” chapter).

Open the p aper compartm ent by lifting th e catch loc ated at the rear of the terminal and drag the cover to th e rear.

Insert t he paper roll in the compartment following the directions shown on the gure below.

Pull the pap er up to the top of the terminal and hold it in this position.

Maintain the paper and close the lid.

Press the top of the lid in the c entre as shown by arrow, until it clips into position.

ADVICE

If you are inserting a new p aper roll rem ove the rst complete turn (this rs t turn of sensitive sur face could be damaged during shipment).

6_2 Adjusting the contrast (B&W

6_3 Card insertion

6_3_1 Swiping a card

Insert t he card man ually in the driver, magstripe facing th e main body of the terminal.

Swipe the card with constant spee d, not too slowly not too fast, to maximize the reading efciency and avoid annoying repetitions.

6_3_2 Inserting a chip card

Chip Cards sh ould be inserted into your terminal as illust rated with the chip facing up and into the card reader.

6_3_3 Reading Contactless (Optional)

Bring the card rmly up to the active zone above (at about 1cm) the contactless logo located on paper trapdoo r butto n.

Keep the ca rd close to th e contac tless log o during the transaction

Your contactless terminal provides four contac tless status lights located on display/ lens.

When a contactles s transa ction is started the rst ( left han d) status light will be lit steadily; this indicates that the contactless is in use but a ca rd is not being read.

When a contactles s card is pres ented to the conta ctless active zone (*) during a transa ction the s econd , third and fou rth status lights will be lit in turn. The card read is successful when all fo ur status lights are lit and a conrmation tone can be heard.

6_3_4 Headphone output (Optional)

The headphone ou tput jack is located under the card reader o utlet. This option is not designe d to play music, b ut to facilitate the use by blind people.

7_Maintenance / Wartung

7_2 Cleaning of the terminal

First of all, un plug all the wires from the terminal.

Good rules for proper cleaning of t he terminal are:

Use a sof t cloth that is very slightly so aked with so apy water to clean the outside of the terminal. Manufacturer wipes kit is strongly rec ommended (ref: 296118801).

Do not clean t he elect rical connections.

CAUTION

Do not use in a ny case, solvents, deterge nts or abrasive products:

Those m aterials might damage the plas tic or electrical contacts.

7_3 Transport and storage

Use the original packaging for any unit or stored. Disconne ct all cable s from the te rminal during th e

transport.

7_4 Troubleshooting

The terminal does not t urn on or do es not connect to the telephone line

Check th e power supply and teleph one line cables

Check for electric al power net work

The terminal fails to establish a telephone c onnec tion

Check that the tone of the phone line is free

Check th e congur ation of the phone line and number to call

Get supp ort fro m technical

Cards are not read

The ticket is not printed

Check that the magn etic card is passed correctly (with magstripe facing th e main body of the terminal )

Swipe again the c ard with with constant sp eed, not too slow not too fast.

Verify that t he magnetic strip is not damaged, g rooved or cracked

Make sure you have inserted corre ctly the smart card into the smar t card read er and removed the card only after the transac tion

Check th e presen ce and prop er positio ning of the pap er roll. Possibly adjust the p aper roll following instruc tions present in t his manual

Check th e type of p aper used (thermal paper must be use d)

7_5 Environment (WEEE, Batteries

and Packaging)

This produ ct is labele d in accordance with European Direc tives 2002/9 6/EC concerning Waste Electric al and Elec tronic Equipment (WEEE) and 20 06/66/EC concerning Batteries and Accu mulators . Those provisions are requiring pro ducers and manufa cturers to beco me liable for take-b ack, treatment an d recycling u pon end of life of equipment and batteries.

The ass ociated symbol means that WEEE and waste batteries must not be thrown away but collected separately and rec ycled.
