4 Setting-up and Connection
1) Open the cover of the subwoofer system to take
out the satellite speakers and the connection cables. Make sure that the cover is properly closed
again to allow an optimum bass reproduction during operation.
2) Place each satellite speaker on a PA speaker stand
(e. g. PAST-… by IMG STAGELINE) at a suitable
place. It would be best to place the subwoofer
system centrically between the two satellite speakers, then lock the castors.
3) As a signal source, connect an audio unit with line
output level (e. g. mixer, MP3 / CD player, etc.). Connect each of the two stereo channels via an XLR or
6.3 mm plug to the appropriate balanced output
jack (10) or, via a cable with RCA connectors, to the
appropriate RCA jack INPUT (13): R = right cannel,
L = left channel.
4)
At the corresponding output LINK (1 or 12), the
input signal fed through is available. This output
allows to connect the input of another PA system
if sound is to be provided to a larger area.
5)
Connect the satellite speakers to the jacks SAT
SPEAKER (11) via the connection cables supplied.
Connect the SPEAKON® plugs to the corresponding
jacks and turn them clockwise until they engage. To
remove the plug, pull back the safety latch on the
plug and turn the plug counter-clockwise.
6)
Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (8) and to a mains socket (230 V/ 50 Hz).
5 Operation
CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! Your ear will get accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high after some time. Therefore,
do not further increase a high volume after getting
used to it.
1) Switch on the signal source connected.
2)
Prior to switching on, set the control VOL (3) to zero
to prevent switching noise. Then switch on the PA
system with the POWER switch (7): The upper LED
AMP. ON / PROT. (2) will show red for a few seconds
after switching on (protective circuit activated, unit
muted) and then change to green (normal mode).
3) Adjust the volume with the control VOL (3).
4)
Adjust the volume ratio between the subwoofer
and the satellite speakers with the control BALANCE
(5) in such a way that a natural bass reproduction
will result.
5) If the volume is too high, the limiter will automatically reduce the volume to protect the speakers. If
the volume adjusted on the subwoofer is too high,
the LED SUB LIM (2) will light up; if the volume
adjusted on the satellite speakers is too high, the
LED SAT LIM will light up. If one of these LEDs lights
continuously or if both LEDs light continuously, turn
back the volume control VOL accordingly. Otherwise, permanent activation of the limiter will reduce
the dynamic power of the music.
6) For stereo mode, press the button STEREO (6). The
LED ST next to the button will light up. For mono
mode, unlock the button.
Note: When the RCA jacks (13) are used for the input, the
change to the mono mode will not take effect. If required,
use the stereo mono converter SMC-1 to connect the
PROTON system.
7)
During stereo mode, the button SURROUND (4)
may be pressed to improve the surround sound.
With the button pressed, the corresponding LED
ON will light up.
8) After operation, set the control VOL to zero first,
then switch off the unit with the POWER switch.
