WIRING THE SECURED SERIES WEATHERPROOF KEYPAD TO THE HUB CONTROLLER
”
Electrical
Wiring the keypad to the HUB control unit requires a four conductor, stranded and shielded
two units. Maximum lengths are as follows: 22 AWG stranded : 250 feet
20 AWG stranded : 500 feet
18 AWG stranded : 1000 feet
At the HUB, connect the four conductor cable to the four pin connector on the HUB control relay board, as shown in the
diagram above. The drain wire at the HUB controller must be attached to ground. The foil shield should also be cut back
with the insulator and taped with electrical tape. Ground is the V- terminal on TS1 if the power supply is grounded. At the
keypad, the drain wire and foil shield should be cut back with the insulator and taped with electrical tape. The four conductor
harness connects into the four pin connector in the keypad. Both wire harnesses are connected to each other color to color.
You may use two Reader/Keypads on one HUB control for in/out operation. Parallel both readers on the same wire
run from the HUB control.
IN/OUT SELECTION: The keypad can also be set for IN or OUT recording status. This is used when retrieving the
transaction log from the HUB controller, or when printing directly to a serial printer. Selecting the keypad for IN/OUT
operation is done by placing the SW2 jumper, on the weatherproof keypad, in the proper position. For OUT operation the
jumper should be placed on both pins and for IN operation the jumper should be placed on one pin only.
SELF-TEST FEATURE: While in normal operating mode, press the following key sequence: 7890#123456*. Following this
sequence the red LED will turn to green, then blink to red and turn off and the keypad will beep twice. To get the keypad
back to normal operating mode press any key. If the keypad does not do this successfully, this may indicate a problem. Call
