Preparation
• To use the O ine Map function, a program that
can manage a map picture, or display PNG or JPG
format les is required.
• The O ine Map function requires much more
memory and processing capacity of the CPU than
the normal map function.
You may not be able to use the O ine Map
function, depending on your Android device’s
speci cation.
• You cannot set the [FROM] setting for the DR
function using the O ine Map function, or display
o ine maps from the Received History list.
• The images and operations that are described in
this document may di er, depending on the device
you are using.
• Performance of all software that you use for the
O ine Map function may di er, depending on the
Android device’s environment (OS version, installed
programs, and settings). So, Icom does not
guarantee any performance.
You may have some diffi culties using a map
software. In that case, ask the software’s selling
agency or developer for details using your speci c
device.

Step 1 Making a map picture
There are three ways to make a map picture:
• Capturing a screen shot of a map on your PC, and enter
position data referencing a site that displays position
(latitude and longitude).
• Making a map data by scanning a map picture, and enter
position data referencing a site that displays position
(latitude and longitude).
• Obtaining a map picture and position data from a third
party or free map software.
NOTE: Icom will not be responsible for any damage
caused by data corruption of a map picture and
position data.
About the data format
You can use a map picture with the following data
format for the Oine Map function:
• Save format: PNG or JPG
Depending on the version of the
Android device, or color setting of the
picture, you may not be able to use
imported map picture.
• Image size: 5000(H) × 5000(W) pixel or less

1. Capture a screen shot of a map on your PC.
2. Using a graphics program on your PC, crop the
screen shot size to 5000(H) × 5000(W) pixels or
less.
3. Save it in the PNG or JPG format file.
Scanning a map picture
1. Scan a map book to make a map picture.
2. Using a graphics program on your PC, crop the
screen shot size to 5000(H) × 5000(W) pixels or
less.
3. Save it in the PNG or JPG format file.
Obtaining a map picture and position data from a
third party or free map software.
Obtain a map picture by following the software’s
instructions and terms of use. Crop the screen shot
size to 5000(H) × 5000(W) pixels or less, then save it
in the PNG or JPG format le.

Importing a map picture and position data into the RS-MS1A
1. Copy the map picture in the PNG or JPG format
file to a desired folder of your Android device.

2. Touch the Menu icon, and then touch “Application
Settings,” then “Offline Map Setting” on the
RS-MS1A.
4. Touch “Select a file.”
5. Select the desired map picture.
• Depending on the version of the Android device, or
color setting of the picture, you may not be able to
use an imported map picture.
3. Touch “Add an Offline Map.”

6. Enter the latitude and longitude data.
The latitude and longitude data must be entered in
the decimal degree format.
Example:
If the latitude is ‘35°19’24.436’’’ in the degrees/
minutes/seconds format, convert it in the decimal
degrees format ‘35.323462,’ and then enter it in
the eld.
7. Touch “Import start.”
• Starts to import the map picture and position data into
the RS-MS1A.
It may take a few seconds to import the map picture.
• Repeat steps 2 through 7 to import two or more
pictures.
The number of les you can store may dier,
depending on the capacity of the device.
How to calculate:
35+19÷60+24.463÷3600=35.323462
When you manually enter position data, be sure to
enter the latitude and longitude data of the upper
left and lower right corners.

To edit or delete the imported map information
You can edit or delete the imported map information.
1. Touch the Menu icon, and then touch “Application
Settings,” then “Offline Map Setting” on the
RS-MS1A.
• Displays the “Edit the Oine Map” window.
2. Touch a desired map name to be edited or
deleted.
3. Touch “Edit” or “Delete.”
• When touching “Edit,” the “Edit the Oine Map”
window is displayed.
• When touching “Delete,” the conrmation dialog is
displayed. Touch “OK” or “Cancel.”

1. Touch the Menu icon, and then touch “Offline
Map” on the RS-MS1A.
• Displays the imported o ine maps list. When a map picture is already loaded, the o ine
maps list is not displayed. In that case, touch
the upper right corner of the screen, and then touch
“Select an O ine Map.”
2. Touch a desired map.

TIP:
• The o ine maps display the received position, images
with position data, or tracking information.
• If you touch
and then touch “RX position OFF,” the displayed RX
position disappears.
• The o ine maps do not display repeaters.
