INSTRUCTIONS
WATERPROOF SPEAKER MICROPHONE
HM-184UL
Thank you for choosing this Icom product. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before using this product.
PRECAUTIONS
R WARNING! NEVER use the microphone with an
unspecied transceiver. It may present a risk of re or
explosion. Only the transceiver listed to the right is tested and approved for use with this microphone.
R WARNING! NEVER immerse the connector in water. If the connector becomes wet, be sure to dry before attaching it to the transceiver.
CAUTION: DO NOT use or place the microphone out of the
specied temperature range of the transceiver (Refer to the transceiverʼs instruction manual) and the microphone itself (–30°C or above +60°C (–22˚F to +140˚F)).
CAUTION: DO NOT use harsh solvents such as benzine or alcohol to clean the microphone, as they will damage the microphone’s surfaces.
CAUTION: DO NOT modify the microphone for any reason.
Repair should be done at authorized Icom service center only. Waterproong cannot be guaranteed if you open the
microphone yourself, or have it done at a non-authorised dealer/service center.
CAUTION: Attach the speaker-microphone’s connector securely to prevent an accidental radio dropping or water intrusion in the connector.
BE CAREFUL! The microphone meets IPX7 requirements for waterproof protection. However, once the microphone has been dropped, waterproof protection cannot be guaranteed because of possible damage to the microphone or the waterproof seal.
Be sure to turn OFF the transceiver when attaching to the transceiver or detaching from the transceiver. Otherwise a malfunction may occur, or may damage the transceiver or microphone.
USING THE BELT CLIP
To detach the belt clip:
1. Pinch the clip (1).
2. Then slide the belt clip in the direction of the arrow (2).
UL INFORMATION
Classication Rating of HM-184UL depends on Classication Rating of th transceiver that is combined with it.
Combination with transceivers listed below:
• IC-F52D-UL
• IC-F62D-UL Intrinsically safe:
Class I, Division 1, Groups C D; Class II, Division 1, Groups E F G; Class III. T3C.
Non-incendive:
Class I, Division 2, Groups A B C D.
Ambient temperature:
–20°C (–4°F) ~ +60°C (+140°F)
Combination with transceivers listed below:
• IC-F3261D-UL
• IC-F3263D-UL
• IC-F4261D-UL
• IC-F4263D-UL
Non-incendive:
Class I, Division 2, Groups A B C D T5 (≤100°C).
Ambient temperature: –20°C (–4°F) ~ +40°C (104°F)
For the details on combinations and the classication rating, refer to the transceiver’s instruction manual.
Where the contents of this instruction conicts with the contents of the transceiver’s instruction manual, the contents of the transceiver’s instruction manual take precedence.
To attach the belt clip:
z Slide the belt clip in the direction of the arrow (3) until the
belt clip is locked and makes a ‘click’ sound.

Turn OFF the transceiver before attaching or detaching the microphone.
NOTE:
NEVER immerse the connector in water. If the connector becomes wet, BE SURE to dry it before attaching to the transceiver.
• To maximize the readability of your transmitted audio, hold the microphone approximately 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) from your mouth, and then speak at your normal voice level.
To attach:
Attach the connector of the speaker microphone to the multi connector on the transceiver and tighten the screw.

CAUTION: Firmly attach to the multi connector, but do not overtighten. A loose connection will allow water intrusion into the connector. Over-tightening the connection can damage the transceiver.
