Steps bef ore using a new machine
•
Please read the operator’s manual carefully and make
sure you understand the instructions before using the
machine.
• WCV 180 is a slot cutter for cutting concrete, stone
and brick. Use in any other way is considered as
contrary to the intended use.
• The machine is to be used only for dry cutting.
Al
ways use common sense
It is not possib le to cover every conceivable situation you
can face. Always exercise care and use your common
sense. Avoid all situations which you consider to be
beyond your capability. If you still feel uncertain about
operating procedures after reading these instructions,
you should consult an expert before continuing.
Let your Husqvarna dealer regularly check the machine
and make essential adjustments and repairs.
Husqvarna Construction Products has a policy of
continuous product development. Husqvarna reserves
the right to modify the design and appearance of products
without prior notice and without further obligation
introduce design modifications.
All information and all data in the Operator’s Manual were
applicable at the time the Operator’s Manual was sent to

its purpose, and how checks and maintenance should be
carried out to ensure that it operates correctly. See the
”What is what?” section to locate where this equipment is
positioned on your machine.
Switc h
The po wer switch should be used to start and stop the
machine.
Chec king the power switch
•
First press the power switch on the right handle (1)
and then the power switch on the left handle (2).
• You should not be able to start the machine by
pressing only one of the power switches.
• Stop the machine by releasing any of the power
switches.
• A defective power switch should be replaced by an
authorized service workshop.

ARNING! Under no circumstances
should you modify the original design of
the machine without approval from the
manufacturer. Always use original spare
parts. Unauthorized modifications and/or
accessories may lead to serious injury or
death to the user or others.

ARNING! The use of products such as
cutters, grinders, drills, that sand or form

which may contain hazardous chemicals.
Check the nature of the material you
intend to process and use an appropriate
breathing mask.

Overload pr otection
The machine is equipped with o verload protection.
Should the engine become overloaded the power is cut by
the machine's overload protection.
You can reset the machine using the reset button. In 20-
30 seconds it will be ready for starting again.
Blade guar ds
The b lade guard is designed to prevent parts of the disc
or cutting fragments from being thrown towards the user.
Chec king the blade guards
•
Check that the guard is complete and without any
cracks or deformations.
• Never use a defective guard or a guard that has not
been fitted correctly.
General saf ety warnings
Sa
ve all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term ”power tool” in the warnings refers to your
mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.

ork area safety
•
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark
areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,
such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a
power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
• Do not use the machine in bad weather, such as
dense fog, rain, strong wind, intense cold, etc.
Working in bad weather is tiring and can lead to
dangerous conditions, e.g. slippery surfaces.
Electrical safety
• Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs
and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric
shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Water entering a power tool will increase he risk of
electric shock.
• If operating a power tool in a damp location is
unaviodable, use a ground fault circuit interrupter
protected supply. Use of an GFCI reduces the risk of
electric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep
cord away from heat, oli, charp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of
electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric
shock.
• Check that the cord and extension cord are intact and
in good condition. Never use the machine if the cord
is damaged, hand it in to an authorized service
workshop for repair.

WARNING! Always check that the guard
is correctly fitted before starting the
machine. Also check that the blades are
fitted correctly and are not damaged in
anyway. Damaged blades can cause
personal injuries. See instructions under
the heading Assembly.

warnings and instructions may result in
electrtic shock, fire and/or serious injury.

• Do not use an extension cord while it is rolled up to
avoid overheating.
• The machine should be connected to an earthed
outlet socket. Check that the mains voltage
corresponds with that stated on the rating plate on the
machine.
• Ensure the cord is behind you when you start to use
the machine so that the cord will not be damaged.
Personal safety
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operaing a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under the influence of
drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye
protection. Protetctive equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal
injuries.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in
the OFF-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or
energising power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
• Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning
the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a
rotating part of the power tool may result in personal
injury.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at
all times. This enables better control of the power tool
in unexpected situations.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long
hair can be caught in moving parts.
• If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure that these
are connected and properly used. Use of dust
collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
• Remain at a distance from the blades when the
engine is running.
Power tool use and care
• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool
for your application. The correct power tool will do the
job better and safer at the rate for which it was
designed.
• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it
on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
• Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the
battery pack from the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power
tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and
do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or
these instructions to operate the power tool. Power
tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
• Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect the power tool´s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are
less likely to bind and are easier to control.
• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in
accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations
different from those intended could result in
hazardous situations.
• Never use a machine that has been modified in any
way from its original specification.
• Ensure that the workpiece is free of nails and screws
in order to prevent damage to the machine.
• Always check and mark out where gas pipes are
routed. Cutting close to gas pipes always entails
danger. Make sure that sparks are not caused when
cutting in view of the risk of explosion. Remain
concentrated and focused on the task. Carelessness
can result in serious personal injury or death.
• The guard for the cutting equipment must always be
on when the machine is running.
• The machine is to be used only for dry cutting.
Service
• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person unsing only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.
Blades
• Never use blades on a material other than the one
they are intended for.
• Ensure the blades are not cracked or damaged in any
other way. Never use a damaged or worn blade.
• Inspect new blades for transport or storage damage.

electrical system or the engine and
cause damage to the machine or short
circuit.

General working instructions
General
• Always hold the machine in a firm grip with both
hands. Hold it so that the thumbs and fingers grip
round the handles.
• Keep a good balance and a firm foothold.
• Stand at a comfortable distance from the work piece.
• Always cut in the direction of the arrow on the
protective cover.
• Always cut at maximum speed.
• Never cut above shoulder height.
• Never cut from a ladder. Use a platform or scaffold
when working at high altitude.
• All guide rollers must be in contact with the workpiece
during the cutting process.
• In order for the machine to always be cooled
sufficiently the cooling air openings must be kept clear
and clean.
Aligning the cut
• The direction mark on the guides is aligned with the
fixed blade. Always make a test cut before you start
the cutting to make sure the cut is correctly placed.
Backstroke
A backstroke is a sudden reaction that makes the saw
emerge from the workpiece in an uncontrolled way, then
thrusting it back towards the operator. Avoid backstroke
by being cautious and using the right working technique.
How backstrokes occur and how to avoid them
• The blades become jammed or clamped in a cut that
closes. This blocks the blades, which makes the
power thrust the machine towards the operator.
Be on the alert in case something occurs which could
cause the blades to jam or the cut to close. Always
hold the machine in a firm grip with both hands.
• The blades are twisted in the cut or are incorrectly
directed. The segments on the back edge of the
blades can then become clamped in the workpiece,
causing the blades to emerge from the cut and be
thrusted back towards the operator.
Avoid pointing the machine in such a direction so that
the blades are twisted or pointing in the wrong
direction.
Start the cutting process
• Place the lower guide rollers against the workpiece.
• Check that the blades are not in contact with anything
when the machine is started.
• Push the switches down to start the machine. Once
maximum speed is acquired, lower the blades to the
required cutting depth.
• Start cutting gradually, let the machine work without
forcing or pressing the blades. Forcing the blades
does not lead to faster cutting but overloads the
engine and wears out the blades.
Cutting depth
• The cutting depth is created gradually until maximum
depth is acquired. Start by cutting a slot of 15 mm in
depth and then increase the depth by 15 mm for each
cut.
• Cut in the same direction when cutting into an existing
cut. Avoid cutting at an angle to the previous cut
otherwise there is a risk of the blade jamming or that
the machine can ”climb in the cut”.
• Take care when inserting the blade in an existing cut.
Make certain that the cut is wide enough and that the
blades are not angled in the cut. This can cause a
back stroke.

Assembly
Blade - fixed
• Loosen the bolts holding the protective hood and then
lift off the hood.
• Dismantle the retaining ring.
• Slide the blade onto the shaft. Check the blade’s
direction of rotation. The arrow on the blade should
align with the arrow on the inside of the protective
cover.
• Slide the hook nut onto the shaft. Hold down the
button for locking the blade shaft.
• Tighten then nut using the hook spanner.
Blade - adjustable
• Mount the blade hub, the blade and the hook nut
together. Check the blade’s direction of rotation. The
flat, broad side of the blade hub should be directed
inwards, facing the machine.
• Slide the blade with the hub onto the shaft. Check the
blade’s direction of rotation. The arrow on the blade
should align with the arrow on the inside of the
protective cover.
• Slide the locking nut onto the shaft. Set the required
gauge. Hold down the button for locking the blade
shaft.
• Tighten then nut using the hook spanner.
• Check that you can pull the blades round by hand.
• Assemble the retaining ring.
• Assemble the protective cover.

Settings
Cutting depth
• Loosen the control for setting the cutting depth.
• Push the cutting blade's protective cover until you
reach the required cutting depth.
• Lock the control.
Gauge
• Hold down the button for locking the blade shaft.
• Loosen the locking nut with the hook spanner.
• Set the required gauge. Tighten then nut using the
hook spanner.

Before starting
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in
the OFF-position before connecting to power source.
• Check that the machine’s safety features are intact.
• Check that the machine and its parts are correctly
assembled and not damaged in any way.
• Check the blade’s direction of rotation.
• Connect the vacuum cleaner to the machine.
Starting

MAINTENANCE

General
The lifetime of your machine can be extended
considerably if it is used, cared for and maintained in the
proper manner.
Cleaning
• In order for the machine to always be cooled
sufficiently the cooling air openings must be kept clear
and clean.
• Use compressed air to clean the motor.
Electrical Feed
Check that the cord and extension cord are intact and in
good condition. Never use the machine if the cord is
damaged, hand it in to an authorized service workshop for
repair.
Daily maintenance
1 Check that nuts and screws are tight.
2 Check that the power switch unit works smoothly.
3 Check that the blade and th blade guard is not
damaged or cracked. Replace the blade or the blade
guard if it is exposed to impact or is cracked.
4 Clean the outside of the machine.
5 Check and clean the cooling air openings.
6 Check that the cord and extension cord are intact and
in good condition.
Repairs
