Important Information
Enabling a Bootable PCI Device
For any HP workstation, if you intend to boot from a bootable PCI device that you are installing (such as a network adaptor or a SCSI), ensure that OPTION ROM loading/scanning for the PCI slot used is enabled. To do this, use the BIOS Setup Utility of the HP workstation that you are installing the PCI device into. Failure to enable the OPTION ROM loading/scanning for the slot used will prevent the system from using that device as a bootable PCI device.
For the HP workstation xw5000, HP also recommends you limit the number of enabled bootable devices in PCI slots 1-4, if you have an enabled bootable device in PCI slot 5. By doing so, you will help conserve the OPTION ROM and ensure that the device in PCI slot 5 can be booted from.
