key management capabilities and facilitates the integration of 3PAR Virtual Copy and Microsoft
Hyper-V Virtual Machine environment.
HP 3PAR RM for Microsoft Hyper-V is designed to work with Microsoft Hyper-V servers and provides
system administrators with important tools to manage and backup critical Virtual Machines involving
multiple virtualized machine environments. This application provides essential GUI and command
line-based tools to create, manage, browse, and restore application consistent 3PAR Virtual Copies
of operating Hyper-V Virtual Machines to a point-in-time.
The Recovery Manager Diagnostics (RMD) Tool is a web-based application that identifies the
discrepancies in the RMH server environment. The RMD Tool scans all the RMH managed servers
(RMH Server and RMH Agents), gathers RMH environment information, identifies discrepancies,
and provides corrective actions for the proper functioning of the RMH.
4Introduction
2 System requirements for installation
Hardware requirements
There are no specific hardware requirements for installing the RMD Tool other than the hardware
requirements for installing RMH.
Software requirements
RMH must be installed and running. The RMD Tool must be installed on the RMH Server. The RMD
Tool can diagnose only the RMH Server and the Agents managed by this server. If multiple RMH
Servers are available, then the RMD Tool must be installed on each RMH Server for the Tool to
perform the diagnosis.
The RMD Tool uses WMI to perform checks on the remote RMH Agents, so you must set the required
firewall exception for WMI. For more information about configuring and setting exceptions for
WMI, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/.
In the MSDN website, navigate to the Library, and search for the following:
