The HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554M adapter supports Virtual Connect Flex-10 that allows each 10Gb port to be divided into four
physical NICs to optimize bandwidth management for virtualized servers. When connected to a Data Center Bridging (DCB) capable
switch, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Ethernet I/O are separated and routed to the corresponding network. For iSCSI storage,
the HP 554M supports full protocol offload to provide better CPU efficiency when compared to software initiators, thus enabling the
server to handle increased virtualization workloads and compute-intensive applications. This combination of high-performance
network and storage connectivity reduces cost and complexity and provides the flexibility and scalability to fully optimize Gen8
BladeSystem servers. The HP 554M delivers the performance benefits and cost savings of converged network connectivity for HP
BladeSystem servers. The dual-port HP 554M optimizes network and storage traffic with hardware acceleration and offloads for
stateless TCP/IP, TCP Offload Engine (TOE), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and iSCSI.

The HP 554M adapter supports jumbo frames (also known as extended frames) with a maximum
transmission unit (MTU) of up to 9K bytes when running Ethernet and/or iSCSI I/O, which is over five times
the size of standard 1500-byte Ethernet frame. Eight KB jumbo frames are supported when running
Ethernet and FCoE I/O concurrently. Jumbo frames can help achieve higher throughput and better CPU
utilization. Jumbo frames are particularly useful for database transfers and tape backups.

802.1p QoS Tagging
IEEE quality of service (QoS) 802.1p tagging allows the adapter to mark or tag frames with a priority level
across a QoS-aware network for improved traffic flow.
802.1Q VLANs
The HP 554M adapter supports the IEEE 802.1Q virtual local area network (VLAN) protocol that allows each
physical port or FlexNIC to be assigned to a VLAN for added network segmentation and enhanced security
and performance. VLANs increase security by isolating traffic between users. Limiting the broadcast traffic
to within the same VLAN domain also improves performance.

The HP 554M adapter support for NIC teaming helps IT administrators increase network fault tolerance and
improve workload balance. These capabilities optimize availability, improve performance and help reduce
costs.
TCP/IP Stateless
Offloading
For overall improved system response, the HP 554M adapter supports standard TCP/IP stateless
offloading techniques including:
TCP/IP checksum offload (TCO) moves the TCP and IP checksum offloading from the CPU to the
network adapter.
Large send offload (LSO), also known as TCP segmentation offload (TSO), allows TCP segmentation
to be handled by the adapter rather than the CPU.
Single-Root I/O
Virtualization
Single-Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) provides a mechanism to bypass the host system hypervisor in
virtual environments providing near metal performance and server efficiency. SR-IOV provides mechanism
to create multiple Virtual Functions (VFs) to share single PCIe resources. The device is capable of SR-IOV,
and requires Server BIOS support, controller firmware, and OS support.
TOE
TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) moves the processing of data in the TCP protocol stack from the server
CPU to the network card, freeing CPU cycles for other duties.

The HP 554M adapter supports accelerated iSCSI and iSCSI INT 13 Boot.
Warranty
HP branded hardware options qualified for BladeSystem c-Class and p-Class servers are covered by a

Partners. The HP branded hardware option diagnostic support and repair is available for one year from
date of purchase, or the length of the server they are attached to, whichever is greater. Support for
software and initial setup is available for 90 days from date of purchase. Additional support may be
covered under the warranty or available for an additional fee. Enhancements to warranty services are
available through HP Care Pack services or customized service agreements.

Coverage
For ProLiant servers and storage systems, this service covers HP-branded hardware options qualified for
the server, purchased at the same time or afterward, internal to the enclosure, as well as external
monitors up to 22" and tower UPS products; these items will be covered at the same service level and for
the same coverage period as the server unless the maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum
usage limitation has been exceeded. Coverage of the UPS battery is not included; standard warranty terms
and conditions apply.
The defective media retention service feature option applies only to Disk or eligible SSD/Flash Drives
replaced by HP due to malfunction. It does not apply to any exchange of Disk or SSD/Flash Drives that have
not failed. SSD/Flash Drives that are specified by HP as consumable parts and/or that have exceeded
maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limit as set forth in the manufacturer's operating
manual or the technical data sheet are not eligible for the defective media retention service feature option.
