The HP OEM Fixed Imager 1000 (FI-1000) oers OEMs the
latest HP PageWide technology in a set of sub-assemblies and
reference designs for building a fast, A3 (297 mm / 11.7 in),
color inkjet solution.
Fast
HP FI-1000 produces best-in-class speed with its xed head solution and straight through print
path design. It supports print speeds for a variety of industries on inkjet transport bases, as
needed for direct mail envelope printing, and overprinting for specialty boxes and packages.
Easy to use
The FI-1000 is a collection of sub-assemblies, providing numerous options for OEMs to build
customized solutions. The Bar-in-Box (BnB) is the centerpiece of the solution. This self-contained
and easily replaceable unit is comprised of the printhead, service tray, ink delivery system (IDS)
and the printhead elevator. The service tray is also available separately. The rest of the subassemblies include a main printed circuit assembly (MPCA), optional power supply, left rear upper
PCA, service sled drive, ink short detection PCA, service station drive shaft assembly, upper paper
guide and assorted cables. The FI-1000 comes with many reference designs that allow you to
speed up design and manufacturing time. The FI-1000 is mounted onto the media path. This
provides you with a Top of Form input, Cover Open input, power on/o input, and GPIOs to enable
customization and integration options. Also available are 3.3V, 5.1V, and 12V outputs.
Durable pigment ink
HP pigment ink that is fully tested for the FI-1000 gives you the condence of HP quality
behind every ink supply. The pigment ink provides durability on a wide range of porous
medias and has been tested for lightfastness, water durability, and scratch resistance.

Sample applications include:
• Specialty packages – Such as gift
and shopping bags
• Small boxes – For gifts, shipping,
and more
• Envelopes – Such as #10, large manila,
bubble, and padded envelopes
Tabletop class
The HP FI-1000 oers a robust tabletop color solution. Printbar life typically reaches 12 liters
per color, but your results may be higher or lower depending on printbar usage. The large-ll
supplies help reduce ink replacement interventions.
The FI-1000 is a proven xed imager that uses advanced color thermal inkjet technology (TIJ). It
provides a rugged platform with design specs that support a metal base plate. This allows you to
mount the print mechanics in a variety of congurations to suit your needs.
This print engine is perfect for OEMs who:
• Can handle images up to 91.44 cm (36 in) long and unlimited print job length (limited only
by ink availability)
• Want a rugged development platform already tested and validated with proven HP expertise
• Value the advantages of TIJ and the competitive edge that comes from partnering with
a recognized technology leader
Media path and integration options
The FI-1000 can be integrated onto any at media path using the reference designs provided. You
can tailor the printhead to the table base spacing according to the application requirements and
media thickness.
With an integrated service station located above the media path, no special provisions are
required in the media path for nozzle health, wiping, or capping.
Wide-ranging print zone
The FI-1000 is designed with a 297 mm (11.7 in) print zone, which supports a wide range of media
sizes. Media sizes larger than 11.7 in are possible with the appropriate OEM design and media
path. This wide-ranging print zone capability makes the FI-1000 a highly versatile solution.
Software integration
The CMYK contone raster format gives you control over the color output to best meet the desired
rendering intents. A feature-rich command/status interface is also available to perform functions
and get status from the printer.
With an oine scanner, HP-provided Windows DLL les are used for printhead alignment and
die-to-die density calibration. A Windows executable le is also provided to be used for drop
detection.
