1 Overview
As of June 2011, the product name of HP BladeSystem Matrix has been renamed to HP CloudSystem
Matrix. While some documents before June 2011 may continue to have references to the HP
BladeSystem Matrix product name, these references are interchangeable with HP CloudSystem
Matrix.
This document provides instructions on installing the components outlined in the updated Customer
Advisory c02796117 dated September 2011. In this advisory, HP recommends updating Integrated
Lights-Out 2 (iLO2) Advanced firmware to version 2.06, Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO3) Advanced
firmware to version 1.26 (for ProLiant only), Onboard Administrator (OA) firmware to 3.31, Virtual
Connect (VC) firmware to 3.18, and Matrix ProLiant server blades system ROMs as a set.
Virtual Connect firmware should be updated to 3.18 if it has not been upgraded already.
NOTE:This document applies to all HP CloudSystem Matrix 6.1 through 6.3 customers.

For Matrix 6.1 and 6.2 customers, if there are BL460c G7 server blades whose NC553i Dual Port
FlexFabric 10Gb Converged Network Adapter version is earlier than 2.102.517.701, HP
recommends updating the NC553i to 2.102.517.703.
In an HP CloudSystem Matrix environment, HP recommends as a best practice to update firmware
component types in the following order:
1.Blade server firmware (system ROM, iLO, NIC)
2.Onboard Administrator (OA) firmware
3.Virtual Connect (VC) firmware
The only upgrades that must be done offline are the system ROMs and the HP NC553i for BL460c
G7 blades.
