6. Known Problems ===============================================================================
1. SNMP must be enabled on the device before Router Manager can connect to the device. SNMP can be enabled using the "snmp-agent" command. Note that the default SNMP V1 community strings defined in the System->Authentication Options dialog must match those configured on the device.
2. If the SNMP community strings on a device are changed after it has been opened in Router Manager, the Device Properties must be updated to match the new values. To do this select the device in the Device List and click the Right mouse button. Select Device Properties..., then SNMP Options... and update the values in this dialog.
3. Sometimes the dialogs in the information display area temporarily can't be resized even though the resize cursor is displayed.
4. If RMON is not enabled on the appropriate interface of the device, the Performance Management/RMON functions will not operate. RMON can be enabled on an interface using the "rmon promiscuous" command.
5. The units used on the vertical axis of Performance and RMON graphs are not displayed. Data is shown using a "per polling interval" format and the default polling interval is 60 secs, so data is effectively "per minute". Note the polling interval can be changed using the properties button.
6. The console (CON) port on the Panel Monitoring mimics of Router 301x devices can not be monitored.
7. If Router Manager is de-installed, a number of files are not deleted. These can be removed by hand by deleting the install directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files\3Com\3Com Device Manager
8. If any one of Input/Output Multicast or Input/Output Broadcast Packets items are selected in Performance Monitoring/Port Monitoring/Interface Flow Statistics for a router running 3Com Router Software 1.10, no data will be displayed in the graph. To resolve this problem, either remove these items from the selection, or upgrade the router software to 1.20.
9.Router Manager can be used to update the running configuration of the router, but to permanently save the changes you must log into the router and use the "save" command.
