HOW TO SET UP YOUR NEW HITACHI COLOR TV
ANTENNA
Unless your TV is connected to a cable TV system orto a centralized antenna system, a good outdoor color TV antenna isrecommended for the best performance. However, if you are located in an exceptionally good signal area that is free
from interference and multiple image ghosts, an indoor antenna may be sufficient.
LOCATION
Select an area where sunlight or brightindoor illuminationwill notfall directly on the picture screen. Also, be sure that
the location selected allows a free flow of air to and from the cover of the set. To avoid cabinet warping, cabinet color changes, and increased chance of set failure, do not place the TV where
temperatures can become excessively hot. For example, in direct sunlight or near a heating appliance, etc.
VIEWING
The major benefit of the HITACHI Color Television is its viewing screen. To seethis screen at itsbest, test various locations in the room tofindthe best spotfor viewing. The
drawings give several suggestions.
The best picture Isseen by sittingdirectly infront of the TV and about 6 to 9 feet from the screen.

RECEPTION PROBLEMS
;;;;;:,alB , - "
IGNITION NOISE:
Black spots or horizontal streaks may appear, picture may flutter or drift. Usually caused by interference from automobile ignition systems, neon lamps, electrical drills and other electrical appliances.
GHOSTS:
Ghosts are caused by the television signal following two paths. One is the direct path and the other is reflected from tall buildings, hills or other objects. Changing the directionorposition of the antenna may improve reception. Ghosting may also be caused by defects inthe antenna systemsuch asunshielded leads or connecting several sets tothe same antenna without usingmultiple antenna couplers.
SNOW: If your receiver is located in the fringe area of a television station where the signal
is weak, your picture may be marred by the appearance of small dots. When the signal isextremely weak, itmay be necessary to installa special antenna toimprove the picture.
RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE:
The interference produces moving ripples ordiagonal streaks, and in some cases, causes loss of contrast in the picture.
