Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control in unexpected situations.

Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Nonskid safety shoes must be used for appropriate conditions. Always wear ANSI-approved safety goggles, heavy duty work gloves, and a hard hat when using or performing maintenance on this tool.
Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed. Do not force the tool and do not use the tool for a purpose for which it is not intended.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons. This Bearing Puller has a heavy Slide Hammer and can be dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Never allow children to come in contact with this product.
Maintain tools with care. Do not use a damaged tool. Tag damaged tools “Do not use” until repaired.
Check for misalignment or binding the Slide Hammer, breakage or cracking of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the Bearing Puller serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your Bearing Puller. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become haz-
ardous when used on another tool.

Make sure the engine you are working on is secure. If the engine is away from the vehicle, make sure it is securely stabilized before you begin to work.
Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.
Maintain a safe working environment. Make sure there is adequate surrounding workspace.
Be safe at all times. Keep fingers and hands out of the path of the Slide Hammer. Wear work gloves.
SERVICE
When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instruc­tions in the “Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning” section of this manual.
Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of injury.

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to
the Assembly Diagram on page 8 of this manual.
NOTE: This Bearing Puller comes mostly assembled. The only additional assembly needed
is threading one of the four Attachments onto the end the Slide Hammer. See Fig-
ure 1
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: To open or close the Attachment Clamps, grasp the Attachment head firmly and
After threading the proper Attachment (3, 4, 5 or 6) onto the end of the Slide Ham-
mer (1) make sure the clamps of the Attachment are completely closed.

while counterclockwise motion will close them.

Insert the Attachment head into the inner diameter of the bearing as shown in
Figure 2

Grasp the Attachment head while turning the Handle (2) clockwise until the Attach-
ment clamps open and are are snug against the bearing lining.
Firmly grasp the Slide Hammer (1) and Handle (2) with hands. Spread feet shoulder
width apart.

Gently push Slide Hammer (1) forward. Make sure your fingers are not in the way
of the sliding action and WEAR GLOVES. See Figure 3
Forcefully pull Slide Hammer (1) backward towards your body. Watch bearing for
movement. Bearing should pull out evenly. If the Bearing pulls out unevenly during
this operation, stop. Remove the Bearing Puller and gently tap the bearing with a
rubber mallet until it is even, then start again.

Repeat steps 4 thru 6 until bearing has successfully pulled free of its location.
Close the Attachment clamps by twisting Handle (2) counterclockwise. Remove
the bearing.

To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with transportation charges prepaid. Proof of purchase date, and an explanation of the complaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection verifies the defect, we will either repair, or replace the product at our election or we may elect to refund the purchase price if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement. We will return repaired products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of storing, and returning the product.

INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general condition of the Bearing Puller. Check
for loose attachments, binding of moving parts, cracked or broken Attachments, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. If any abnormality is found, have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment.
