Do not insert any foreign objects into the suc­tion intake. Always keep the suction intake free of any objects.

Do not pull the power cord round sharp edges and do not squash it.

If you move the appliance to another room, always disconnect the power cord and carry the appliance by the handle.

Change the filter when necessary.

Only use original GRUNDIG accessories when exchanging parts.

Always pull out the power cord before cleaning or carrying out any maintenance on the appliance.

Whenever possible, insert the power cord plug directly into the socket. Avoid using extension cables or multipoint connectors.

Pull out the power plug after use. Do not dis­connect the plug by pulling on the cable.

Never use the appliance if it or the power cord is visibly damaged. This also applies if the appliance has become accidentally wet. Please contact your specialist dealer if this is the case.

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service centre or a similarly qualified person to prevent danger arising.

What is Microban®?
Microban® is odourless, colourless and tasteless. Microban® inhibits the growth of micro-organisms
by permeating the cell walls and destroying the micro-organism cells. These cells are then no lon­ger able to reproduce and growth is prohibited.
Grundig offers an effective way to clean hygieni­cally with the impressive technology from Micro­ban®. The Grundig dust filter is equipped with the integrated Microban® hygiene protection.
This inhibits the spread of even tiny microscopic particles including house mites, pollen and dust.
Dangerous bacteria can barely survive with the integrated Microban® hygiene protection in the container and filter.
Microban

technology has been tested in indepen­dent laboratories and certified, thus making a sig­nificant contribution towards a healthier house­hold.

Multi-level extendable telescopic suction tube
1 Extend the telescopic suction tube by pres-
sing the catch forwards and pull the tube to the length you require.
2 Release the catch to stop.
Brushes
A multi-floor brush and a cleaning roller (fabric master) are supplied: – Multi-floor brush: floor brush with adjustable
height for carpets or hard floors.
– Fabric master: cleaning roller for cleaning texti-
les and material such as curtains (does not suck up the material).
Depending on your requirement, use the multi­floor brush supplied or the fabric master.
1 Insert the brush or the fabric master into the
telescopic suction tube .
2 Depending on the depth of the carpet pile,
move the switch to the multi-floor brush.

Small nozzle
Use the small nozzle for cleaning joints, crevi­ces, corners and creases that are difficult to reach.
1 Insert the small nozzle into the telescopic suction
tube .
Note

The nozzle can also be inserted onto the curved tube if needed.

Suction brush attachment
Use the suction brush attachment for cleaning furniture, picture frames, books, etc.
1 Insert the suction brush attachment into the
telescopic suction tube .

Check that the mains voltage on the type plate (on the bottom of the appliance) corresponds to your local mains supply.
Setting up
Your appliance is supplied with a fitted dust con­tainer. Once you have assembled the individual parts, the appliance is ready to operate.
1 Insert the contact of the flexible hose into the
socket on the dust container until it latches in.
Note

To remove the flexible hose , press the catch on the top of the contact and pull it out.
2 Plug in both suction tubes firmly with and
by turning slightly.

3 At the top of the suction tube, insert the grip
of the suction hose onto the lower end of the floor brush.
4 Press and turn all the plug connectors to plug
in and release again by pulling and turning.

Switching on and off
1 Pull out the power cord to the length you require.
Caution
7
A yellow marking appears at the end of the cord. A red marking shows the the maximum cord length. Never attempt to pull out the power cord beyond the red marking.
2 Plug the power cord into the wall socket. 3 Press the button to switch on the appliance.

4 Set the suction power with switch .
5 After use, switch off the appliance with the
button and disconnect the power cord from the wall socket.

Always disconnect the power cord if the appliance is not being used.
Suction control
A suction control is located on the handle , which you can operate with your thumb. If the control is fully closed, the maximum suction power is reached.
However, in some cases such as when cleaning material or upholstery, it is advisable to have less suction power. Open the control if and when required.

Retracting the power cord
1 Disconnect the power cord plug from the wall
socket.
2 Hold the power cord in one hand and press
and hold down the button.
3 Guide the power cord carefully into the
appliance.
Caution

Always retract the power cord carefully, as pressing fully on the button and retracting it very quickly can cause unpredictable cable movements.

Cleaning the dust container
1 Disconnect the power cord plug from the
wall socket.
2 Remove the flexible hose from the socket on
the dust container.
3 Take the dust container out by pressing on
the catch and pull up the dust container with the handle.
4 Open the catch flap on the dust container over
a dustbin by pressing the »PUSH« button under the HEPA filter on the dust container.

5 Close the dust container by shutting the catch
flap until it latches in.

You can clean the inside of the dust container with a damp cloth. Ensure the dust container is completely dry before putting it back in.

Check the appliance works after cleaning the dust container. If the suction power is still ina­dequate, the attachment tools, tubes or filter could be blocked (see the following section).

Never operate the appliance without the dust container.
Removing blockages
1 Disconnect the power cord plug from the
wall socket.
2 Check the following parts for blockages:
– The contact on the flexible hose . – The contact between the flexible hose and
the handle .
– The contact between the telescopic suction
tube and the floor brush or other attach­ments.

If you have not found the blockage, it might be at the end of the handle in the connecting piece. Disconnect the handle for the tool and release the locking hooks using a flat screwdriver or something similar. Dismantle the parts and remove any dirt. Reassemble the parts so that the locking hooks latch in.

Cleaning or replacing the filter
Caution

The dust container and filter must be fitted befo­re use, otherwise this could damage the motor.
The dust container
1 Take out the dust container by pressing on the
catch and pull it out with the handle.
2 Remove the holder for the air inlet filter.
3 Remove the filter from the holder.

4 Shake the filter vigorously, then clean it in warm
soapy water, rinse thoroughly and leave it to dry.

Never put the filter in the washing machine or dry it with a hair dryer.

Ensure the filter is completely dry before refit­ting it.
5 If required, fit a new filter in the holder and
insert the holder again.
6 Fit the dust container back in.

The air outlet blower
1 Remove the grille over the air outlet opening
(on the back of the appliance).
2 Remove the air outlet filter. 3 Shake the filter vigorously, then clean it in
warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and leave it to dry.

Ensure the filter is completely dry before refit­ting it.
4 Put back all the parts carefully.
Notes
7
The filter in the dust container should be repla­ced every six months, or sooner if necessary. The air outlet filter should be replaced every six to nine months, or sooner if necessary. Frequent washing causes wear and tear on the filter. Please note: the air outlet filter is equipped with active hygiene protection from Microban®, as well as the air inlet filter and the dust container.
Troubleshooting
This appliance is fitted with a safety switch which automatically switches off the motor when it over­heats. In the event of overheating, proceed as follows:
1 Turn the appliance off and unplug the power
supply unit from the mains.
2 Look for the cause of the overheating (blocked
hose/tube, dirty filter, etc.).
3 Remove the blockage, clean dust container or
filter.
4 Allow the motor to cool down for approx. 30
to 40 minutes.
5 Plug in the appliance again and switch it on.
It should now work properly.
6 If the appliance does not switch on, wait a
further 20 minutes and then try again.
7 If it still does not work, contact your specialist
dealer or get in touch with the GRUNDIG Service Center.
