QUICK START GUIDE:

POWER: Press the POWER (1) button to turn on the CD player.

NOTE: MAKE SURE VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH (36) IS SET BEFORE USE.

DISC IN/OUT SLOT: This CD player is a front-loading player; 12 cm or 8 cm sized CD’s can be used in the DISC IN/OUT SLOT (2).

NOTE: DO NOT FORCE A DISC INTO THE SLOT WHEN THE POWER TO THE UNIT IS OFF.

DISC IN/OUT LED: The DISC IN/OUT LED (3) blinks for disc insertion and remains solid while a disc is in the player.

DISPLAY: The DISPLAY (4) shows the various functions for the CD player. See

PLA YBACK DISPLAY BAR: The PLAYBACK DISPLAY BAR (5) shows the TIME ELAPSED and TIME REMAINING

PLAY/PAUSE: Press PLAY/PAUSE (6) button to activate PLAY or PAUSE mode. See

TRACK SKIP: Pressing TRACK SKIP (7) buttons select which track to play.

SEARCH DIAL: Use the SEARCH DIAL (8) to scan forward and reverse directions on a TRACK

DIRECT ACCESS: Use the DIRECT ACCESS (9) keys to select exactly which track to play or to set a precise CUE POINT.

JOG WHEEL: The JOG WHEEL (10) has various functions: SCRATCH mode, PITCH BEND, CUEING, and EFFECTS.

STOP/EJECT: Press STOP/EJECT (11) once to stop, twice to eject, and hold down to eject the CD.

TIME: Tap the TIME (12) button to switch the time preference in three modes: TOTAL TIME REMAINING, TIME REMAINING, TIME ELAPSED.

(13-15) SEAMLESS LOOP BUTTONS:

FLY CUE1: FLY CUE1 (13) sets a CUE POINT on the fly . CUE 1-B/EXIT: After a CUE POINT is set press the CUE 1-B/EXIT (14) button in PLAY mode, for a SEAMLESS LOOP, press again to exit. RETURN: To play from a saved CUE POINT or a SEAMLESS LOOP, press RETURN (15) to play the LOOP or the CUE again. CUE 1/PREVIEW: Tap CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) to come back to a set CUE or press and hold to PREVIEW from a CUE, refer to HOT START CUE1: Press HOT START CUE1 (17) to instantly return to and play from a CUE POINT. AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS: Tap AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) for: AUTO CUE SINGLE, CONTINUOUS, and NORMAL modes. SET CUE: Use SET CUE (19) as a trigger for HOT STARTS 2-4 (20) or CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) HOT STARTS (CUE2, CUE3, CUE4): HOT STARTS CUE 2-4 (20) allows you to set up to 3 different CUE POINTS using SET CUE (19). MASTER TEMPO: MASTER TEMPO (22) locks in the music’s PITCH even with no change in vocal or instrument tone. PITCH: The PITCH (23) button activates the PITCH CONTROL SLIDE (25) indicated by the red LED light above the button. VPS (VARIABLE PITCH SELECTOR) 4%, 8% and 16%: VPS (24) use to change the pitch settings from 4%, 8%, and 16%. PITCH CONTROL SLIDE: The PITCH or BPM of a track will change (+ or -) 4%, 8%, and 16% when the PITCH CONTROL SLIDE (25) is moved. BPM/PITCH (PITCH BEND - or +): Pressing BPM/PITCH (26) buttons together switches from BPM or PITCH BEND mode

PITCH mode, the buttons for BPM/PITCH (26) will raise or lower the pitch percentage or BPM - or + 4%. ZOOM: Pressing the ZOOM (27) effect button changes the delay time, producing a flanger effect, by rotating the jog wheel. FILTER: Pressing the FILTER (28) effect button changes the cutoff frequency of the playback sound when the jog wheel is rotated.

When in BPM or

REVERSE: Tap the REVERSE (29) button to play your musical selection backwards.

THE BRAKE: Pressing PLAY or PAUSE with BRAKE (30) on, makes the CD sound just like a RECORD stopping.

HOLD: Press HOLD (31) after you press ZOOM (27) or FILTER (28) to keep the parameters held for the effect chosen. SCRATCH: Press the SCRATCH (32) button to make the cd “SCRATCH” like a RECORD.

DIGITAL OUTPUT JACK (BNC): Use the BNC (33) to connect to any type of device that accepts digital signals.

LINE OUTPUT JACKS: LINE OUTPUT JACKS (34) provide stereo sound via RCA cables to your mixer or receiver.

NOTE: MAKE SURE CABLES ARE PLUGGED IN TIGHT FOR OPTIMAL SOUND.

ROBO START JACK: ROBO START JACK (35) is used to connect two CD player’s to use the ROBO START (21) feature.

NOTE: MAKE SURE ROBO START CABLE IS PLUGGED IN TIGHT FOR ROBO START (21).

VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH: To set the proper voltage, adjust the VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH (36) to 115 or 230 volts.

POWER JACK (AC IN): Connect the power plug into the POWER JACK (37) for power.

INTRODUCTION:

Congratulations on purchasing a Gemini CD-1800X CD player. This state of the art professional CD player is backed by a three-year warranty, excluding lasers. One-year warranty on CD lasers. Prior to use, we suggest that you carefully read all the instructions.

CAUTIONS:

Do not use this CD player at temperatures below 41°F/5°C or higher than 95°F/35°C. The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids such as vases should be placed on the apparatus. Place the unit in a clean and dry location. Do not place the unit in an unstable location. When disconnecting the power cord from an AC outlet, always grasp it by the plug. Never pull the power cord. To prevent electric shock, do not remove the cover or the bottom screws. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Please refer servicing to a qualified technician. Do not use chemical solvents to clean the unit.

Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.

LINE VOLTAGE SELECTION:

Model CD-1800X is a dual voltage unit. It will operate at 115 or 230 volts. To set the proper voltage, follow these steps:

1. Place the head of a screwdriver in the center of the VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH (36) found on the rear panel.

2. Slide the switch left for 115 volts or push the switch right for 230 volts.

3. Do not force or twist the switch. Excessive force may cause damage. If the switch does not move smoothly, contact a qualified technician.

CONNECTIONS:

1. Plug one end of a set of RCA connectors into each of the LINE OUTPUT JACKS (34).

2. Plug the other end of the RCA connectors into any available line level input jacks on your mixer. If you are playing the CD-1800X through a receiver, you can plug the RCA connectors into the CD or AUX input jacks on your receiver. If there are no CD or AUX inputs, use any line level (except phono) inputs.

3. The DIGITAL OUTPUT- BNC (33) jacks are for connecting to any type of DAT ,

MD, HARD DRIVE, or any other type of device that accept digital signals.

VALUE, SINGLE-AUT O CUE, CONTINUE (for continuous play), and 3

different time displays. These time displays are TIME ELAPSED on the track, TOTAL TIME REMAINING on the disc and TIME REMAINING on the track. Time is measured in MINUTES, SECONDS and FRAMES.

(5 )PLAYBACK DISPLAY

Press once to stop, twice to eject, or hold to eject the CD.

(13-15) SEAMLESS LOOP BUTTONS

(13) FLY CUE

with one press of a button. With the unit in the PLAY mode (PLAY/PAUSE LED glows green), press FLY CUE (13) at the point where you want the CUE POINT to be (the unit will continue to play). The CUE POINT is now memorized. Press the CUE (16) button to return to the memorized CUE POINT. Push the PLA Y/PAUSE (17) button, and the unit will instantly play from the spot selected.

(14) CUE 1-B/EXIT

CUE 1 B/EXIT BUTTON (14) in play mode, repeats the section between

the CUE POINT and the point where the CUE B/EXIT (14) button was pressed. Press the CUE B/EXIT (14) button again or pause play to exit the repeating play.

RETURN

previously saved LOOP from normal play, press the RETURN (15) button after saving the LOOP. To return to and instantly play from a previously saved CUE POINT, press the RETURN (15) button after setting the

CUE POINT (if you do not have a LOOP saved).

(17) HOT START CUE1

PREVIEW (16) or FLY CUE (13) button you can return to that CUE POINT at any time during the musical performance simply by pressing

the HOT START CUE1 (17) button. The music will immediately return to that point.

(18) AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS

SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) button activates the AUTO CUE FUNCTION.

The AUTO CUE FUNCTION causes the unit to pause at the beginning of music of the following track and allows you to start play immediately from the start of music without any blank space (which exists at the beginning of every track). Pressing the AUTO CUE SINGLE/ CONTINUOUS (18) button a second time activates the function causing the unit to play continuously (after the last track, the unit will return to the first track of the disc and continue to play). Pressing the AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) button a third time deactivates the CONTINUOUS function.

(20) HOT STARTS CUE 2-4

different CUE POINTS using the HOT STARTS CUE 2-4 (20). To set each individual CUE POINT, press the SET CUE (19) button and then a cue button (CUE 2-4). You can keep setting CUE POINTS up to 3. As your music is playing, if you would like it to jump to one of your set CUE POINTS, simply press that individual CUE button (Cue 2-4) and the music will jump to that point.

ROBOSTART function. Use ROBOSTART in AUTO CUE-SINGLE mode

to alternate play between the two sides of the CD player (one track from one side, then one track from the other side). See the

(27-32) EFFECTS

The EFFECTS BUTTONS (27-32) allow you to select one of five different effects: ZOOM (27), FILTER (28), REVERSE (29), BRAKE

(30), and SCRATCH (32).

(27) ZOOM

the jog wheel, mixing a short delay with the playback sound. This function allows you to produce the sound of a JET ENGINE (FLANGER EFFECT) using a single CD Player. When held down the

DISPLAY (4) shows the effects parameters for precise tuning.

(28) FILTER

FREQUENCY of the playback sound when the jog wheel is rotated.

This allows the DJ to extract and play back specific parts from the playback sound. When held down the DISPLAY (4) shows the effects parameters for precise tuning.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Make sure that the VOLTAGE SELECTOR (36) switch, found on the rear panel, is set for the proper voltage. Plug the unit in and press the POWER (1) switch.

2. Place a CD in the DISC IN/OUT SLOT (2).

3. Push the TRACK SKIP (7) buttons to select the track you want to play.

4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE (6) button and the unit will instantly play.

CUE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. To memorize the spot at which you want play to start, the CUE POINT, select the proper track, and then push the PLAY/PAUSE (6) button so the unit goes into PLAY mode (the PLAY/PAUSE LED will glow). Listen to the CD and when the CD gets to the approximate spot, push the

PLAY/PAUSE (6) button so the unit goes into PAUSE mode (the PLAY/ PAUSE LED will blink). Move the JOG WHEEL (10) or use the SEARCH DIAL (8) to find the precise spot you want play to begin, and push the PLA Y/P AUSE (6) to memorize the CUE POINT. Press CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) to return to the memorized CUE POINT in PAUSE mode, and then

push PLAY/PAUSE (6) to play from the CUE POINT. Or you can press the HOT START CUE1 (17) button to return to and instantly play from the saved CUE POINT.

To use FLY CUE (13) to set a CUE POINT, follow these instructions:

1. With the unit in the PLAY mode (PLAY/PAUSE LED glows green), press FLY CUE (13) at the point where you want the cue point to be (the unit will continue to play). The CUE POINT is now memorized. Press the CUE

1/PREVIEW (16) button to return to the memorized CUE POINT. Push the PLAY/PAUSE (6) button, and the unit will instantly play from the spot

selected.

AND/OR:

To use the SET CUE (19) button and the DIRECT ACCESS (9) buttons to set a CUE POINT, follow these instructions:

1. Press the SET CUE (19) button (the set cue LED will light). Use the DIRECT ACCESS (9) buttons to memorize the spot at which you want play to start, the CUE POINT, by selecting the proper TRACK, MINUTE,

SECOND and FRAME. Push the CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) button to set the CUE. You can do this in any mode, including PLAY mode, so that you

may cue a track while playing a track. Press the CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) button again to return to the memorized CUE POINT in PAUSE mode, and then push PLAY/PAUSE (6) to play from the CUE POINT. Or you can press the RETURN (15) button to return to and instantly play from the saved CUE POINT (if you do not have a loop saved).

SUGGESTION: TO AVOID CONFUSION WHILE SETTING CUE POINTS, KEEP THE TIME

DISPLAY IN ELAPSED TIME MODE. WHEN YOU USE THE DIRECT ACCESS BUTTONS T O SET A CUE, THE TRACK, MINUTE, SECOND AND FRAME ARE ALW AYS IN ELAPSED TIME. IF THE UNIT’S TIME DISPLAY IS IN TRACK REMAIN OR TOTAL REMAIN MODE, THE TRACK, MINUTE, SECOND AND FRAME DISPLAYED WILL BE THE REMAIN TIME AND NOT THE TRACK, MINUTE, SECOND AND FRAME YOU ENTERED.

2. To fine tune a CUE POINT, pause play at the memorized CUE POINT (the cue LED will glow and the PLAY/PAUSE LED will blink), then use the JOG WHEEL (10) or SEARCH (9) dial to scan frame by frame (1/ d75th of a second) to where you want play to begin (the CUE LED will blink while you scan). Press the PLAY/PAUSE (6) button to save the new CUE POINT.

NOTE: DURING FINE TUNING THERE WILL BE A STUTTER EFFECT (TO HELP YOU FIND THE

BEAT). THE STUTTERING EFFECT WILL END WHEN YOU PRESS THE PLA Y/PAUSE (6) BUTTON TO SAVE THE CUE POINT.

ROBO START INSTRUCTIONS:

IN SINGLE-AUTO CUE MODE:

Use ROBO ST ART (1) in AUTO CUE SINGLE mode to alternate play between two CD-1800X CD players (one track from one side, then one from the other). In AUTO CUE SINGLE mode play starts immediately with no blank or “dead” space. ROBO START causes one side of the CD player to play when the other side is paused.

1. Engage AUTO CUE SINGLE mode with the AUTO CUE SINGLE/ CONTINUOUS BUTTON (18).

2. Press the ROBO START BUTT ON (21) to activate ROBO START. Play will alternate between the two CD players. At the end of a track, the playing side pauses and the other CD deck plays a track. At the end of this track, the playing side pauses and the first CD deck resumes play.

IN CONTINUOUS MODE OR DURING NORMAL PLA Y :

If you use ROBOSTART without AUTO CUE SINGLE mode (in CONTINUOUS mode or during normal play), play will not alternate automatically. Pressing pause on the playing side will cause the other side to play.

NOTE: SPECIFICATIONS AND DESIGN ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE FOR

PURPOSE OF IMPROVEMENT.

1. During normal play, set a cue point on the other side of the CD player.

2. Press the ROBO START (21) button to activate ROBO START (the button will blink).

3. Press PLAY/PAUSE (6) button on the playing side to begin play from the cue point on the other side.

NOTE: PAUSING THE PLAYING SIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRACK WILL CAUSE THE OTHER

SIDE TO PLAY. WHEN THAT TRACK ENDS, PLA Y WILL BEGIN FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACK WHERE PLAY WAS PAUSED.

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

• If the disk will not play, check to see if the disc was loaded correctly

(label side up). Also check the disc for excessive dirt, scratches, etc.

• If the disc turns but there is no sound, check the cable connections. If they are okay, check your amplifier or receiver.

Herstellergarantie, ausschließlich Lasers. Die CD-Laser haben eine einjährige Herstellergarantie. Lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor der Inbetriebnahme des Geräts sorgfältig durch.

HINWEISE ZUR SICHERHEIT:

Diesen CD-Spieler nicht bei Temperaturen unter 5° C oder Über 35° C benutzen. Das Gerät sollte keinen Tropfen oder Spritzern ausgesetzt werden, und mit Wasser gefüllte Gegenstände wie Vasen sollten nicht darauf gestellt werden. Diese Zeitanzeigen sind die Zeit der abgelaufenen Spur, die auf der CD und auf der Spur verbleibende Zeit. Die Zeit wird in Minuten, Sekunden und Rahmen gemessen. Ebenfalls werden die Beats (Schläge) pro Minute auf der Spur angezeigt.

(5) PLAYBACK DISPLAY (WIEDERGABE-ANZEIGE)

DISPLAY (5) zeigt die restliche Abspielzeit an und glimmt langsam, wenn nur noch 30 Sekunden auf der Spur abzuspielen sind. Die PLAYBACK DISPLAY (5) glimmt schnell, wenn nur noch 15

Sekunden auf der Spur verbleiben.

(6) PLAY/PAUSE

AUSWAHL DER LEITUNGSSPANNUNG

Modell CD-1800X ist ein Gerät mit Doppelspannung. Es arbeitet bei 115 oder 230 V. Um die vorschriftsmäßige Spannung einzustellen, sind folgende Schritte zu befolgen:

1. Die Spitze des Schraubenziehers in die Mitte des VOLTAGE SELECT OR (36)Schalters setzen, der sich an der Rückwand des Gehäuses befindet.

2. Den Schalter nach links auf 115 V oder nach rechts auf 230 V schieben.

3. Den Schalter nicht zwingen oder drehen. Wenn man übermäßige Gewalt anwendet, kann dies den Schalter beschädigen. Wenn der Schalter sich nicht leicht schieben lässt, wenden Sie sich an einen qualifizierten Fachmann.

ANSCHLÜSSE:

1. Ein Ende von einem Satz RCA-Stecker in jeden der Anschlüss LINE OUT (34) (Leitungsausgang) einstecken.

2. Das andere Ende der RCA-Stecker in einen beliebigen Anschluß Leitungseingang des Mischpults einstecken. Wenn der CD-1800X durch einen Empfangsgerät gespielt wird, können die RCA-Stecker in die Eingangsanschlüsse CD oder AUX des Empfangsgeräts eingesteckt werden. Wenn kein CD oder AUX Eingang vorhanden ist, kann jeder Leitungseingang (nicht Phono) verwendet werden.

3. Die Steckfassungen des DIGITAL OUTPUT- BNC (5) sind für das Anschließen an irgendeine Art DAT, MD, FESTPLATTENLAUFWERK oder irgendeine andere Art Vorrichtung, die digitale Signale annehmen.

Benuzten Sie das JOG WHEEL(10), um der Tonhöhe eine Nuance zu verleihen, um somit eine genaue Synchronisation im Abspiel-Modus, für das Raspelgeräusch und beim Regulieren der Vorlauf- und der Effektparameter zu erzielen.

(11) STOP/EJECT

Anfang der zuvor gesicherten SCHLEIFE des normalen Abspielens zurückzukehren, drücken Sie die Taste RETURN (15), nachdem Sie die SCHLEIFE gesichert haben). Um zu einer zuvor gesicherten

MERKSTELLE zurückzukehren und von dieser momentan an zu spielen,

drücken Sie die T aste RETURN (15), nachdem Sie die MERKSTELLEN eingestellt haben (falls Sie keine SCHLEIFE gesichert haben).

(16) CUE 1/PREVIEW

befindet (LED PLAY/PAUSE leuchtet auf) und nachdem der STARTPUNKT eingestellt worden ist, verursacht ein Druck auf die Taste SPEICHERTASTE (16), daß der CD-Spielers in den modus-PAUSE (LED PLAY/PAUSE wird blinken) an dem gespeicherten STARTPUNKT (LED CUE 1/PREVIEW leuchtet gelb auf) schaltet. Wenn Sie die CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) niederdrücken, wird die Mithörfunktion auf PREVIEW zurückgesetzt und ermöglicht Ihnen, die Musik von dem STARTPUNKT abzuhören. Das Auslösen der CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) führt Sie zum voreingestellten STARTPUNKT zurück.

(17) HOT START CUE 1

PREVIEW (16)-Taste oder der FLY CUE (13)-Taste eingestellt haben,

können Sie jederzeit während des Abspielens der Musik zur Merkstelle zurückkehren, indem Sie die HOT START CUE 1 (17) Taste drücken. Die Musik wird sofort zu der Stelle zurückkehren.

(18) AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS

SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) T aste aktiviert die AUTO CUE Funktion. Die

Funktion stoppt das Gerät beim Start der Musik des darauffolgenden Titels und ermöglicht das Abspielen sofort beim Start der Musik ohne jeglichen leeren Zwischenraum (der zu Beginn eines jeden Titels besteht). Durch Drücken der AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) Taste ein zweites Mal aktiviert die CONTINUOUS Funktion. Diese Funktion lässt das Gerät fortwährend spielen (nach dem letzten Titel kehrt das Gerät zum ersten Titel der Platte zurück und setzt das Spielen fort). Drücken der AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18) Taste ein drittes Mal deaktiviert die CONTINUOUS Funktion.

(19) SET CUE

SELECT (9) aktiviert, um einen STARTPUNKT einzustellen. Im Abschnitt SPEICHERTASTE-ZUSATZHINWEISE finden Sie weitere Informationen.

(20) HOT STARTS CUE 2-4

1. Sicherstellen, daß der Schieberegler VOLTAGE SELECTOR (36) (Spannungswähler) auf der hinteren Schalttafel auf die richtige Spannung eingestellt ist. Das Gerät mit dem Netz verbinden und den POWER (1) einschalten.

2. Legen Sie ein CD in DISC IN/OUT SLOT (2).

3. Die Tasten TRACK SKIP (7) drücken, um den gewünschten Titel zu wählen.

4. Die Taste PLAY/PAUSE (6) drücken und das Gerät fängt sofort an zu spielen.

ZUSATZHINWEISE:

1. Um die genaue Stelle zu speichern, an der das Abspielen bzw. die MERKSTELLE einsetzen soll, ist der entsprechende Titel zu wählen, dann die Taste PLAY/PAUSE (6) drücken, damit der CD-Spieler in den SPIEL-modus übergeht (LED PLAY/PAUSE leuchtet auf). IM KONTINUIERLICHEN MODUS ODER BEI NORMALEM ABSPIELEN:

Wenn Sie ROBO ST ART ohne AUTO CUE SINGLE modus (im CONTINUOUS modus oder bei normalem Abspielen) benutzen, wird

das Abspielen nicht automatisch von der einen Seite zur anderen wechseln. Wenn Sie die Pause-Taste auf der anderen Spielseite drücken, wird die andere Seite abgespielt.

1. Bei normalem Abspielen setzen Sie eine Merkstellen auf der anderen Seite des CD-Spielers.

2. Die ROBO START (21)-Taste drücken, um ROBO START zu aktivieren (die Taste wird glimmen).

3. Die PLAY/PAUSE (6)-Taste an der abspielenden Seite drücken, um das Abspielen von der Merkstelle auf der anderen Seite zu beginnen.

FEHLERSUCHE:

• Wenn eine CD nicht spielt, nachprüfen, ob die CD richtig eingelegt wurde (mit der beschrifteten Seite nach oben). Auch auf Verunreinigung, Kratzer usw. überprüfen.

• Wenn die CD sich dreht, aber kein Ton zu hören ist, die Kabelanschlüsse überprüfen. Wenn diese in Ordnung sind, den Verstärker bzw. das Empfangsgerät überprüfen.

• Wenn die CD springt, ist sie auf Schmutz oder Kratzer zu überprüfen. Man darf nicht sofort annehmen, daß der CD-Spieler defekt ist. Viele CDs werden nicht spezifikationsgemäß aufgezeichnet und springen auf den meisten oder allen CD-Spielern. Bevor Sie das Gerät zur Reparatur einsenden, versuchen Sie, eine CD abzuspielen, von der Sie sicher sind, daß sie richtig spielt.

Felicitaciones con su compra de lector CD-1800X de Gemini. Este aparato muy moderno está apoyado por una garantía de tres años, excepto el laser. Garantía de un año sobre el laser de lector. Antes de su uso, le recomendamos que lea cuidadosamente todas las instrucciones.

CUIDADO:

No use este lector DC en temperaturas de menos de 5° C/41° F o de más de 35° C/95° F. El aparato no debería estar expuesto al goteo o a salpicaduras y ningun objeto con líquido tal como una jarra debería estar colocado en ello. Coloque el aparato en un lugar limpio y seco. No coloque el aparato en un lugar instable. Cuando se saque el cordón eléctrico de la salida c.a., siempre tome la ficha. Nunca tire el cordón mismo. Para evitar los choques électricos, no saque la cubierta o los tornillos al fondo.El aparato no contiene ninguna parte reemplazable por el usuario. Consigne el servicio a un técnico homologado. SELECCION DE LA TENSION DEL SECTOR:

El modelo CD-1800X es un aparato de doble tensión. Funcionará en 115 ó 230 voltios. Para establecer la tensión correcta, haga lo siguiente:

1. Coloque la cabeza de un atornillador en el centro del VOLTAGE SELECTOR (36) que se encuentra en el panel trasero.

2. Deslice el selector hacia la izquierda para 115 voltios o a la derecha para 230 voltios.

3. No fuerce ni tuerza el selector. Una fuerza excesiva lo puede dañar. Si el selector no se mueve fácilmente, póngase en contacto con un técnico homologado.

CONEXIONES:

1. Enchufe un extremo de un juego de conectores tipo RCA en cada uno de los LINE OUTPUT (34).

2. Enchufe el otro extremo de los conectores tipo RCA en cualquier receptáculo de entrada de nivel de línea disponible en el mezclador. Si está reproduciendo la señal del CD-1800X por intermedio de un receptor, puede enchufar los conectores tipo RCA en los receptáculos de entrada CD (corriente continua) o AUX del receptor. Si el receptor no tiene entradas CD (corriente continua) o AUX, use cualquier entrada de nivel de línea (no fonográfica).

INSTRUCCIONES PARA ROBO START:

EN LA MODALIDAD SINGLE-AUTO CUE:

Utilice el ROBO START (1) en la modalidad AUTO CUE SINGLE para alternar la reproducción entre los dos lectores DC del CD-1800X (una pista de un lado, después una del otro lado). En la modalidad AUTO

CUE SINGLE, la reproducción empieza sin espacio blanco o muerto. El ROBO START causa la reproducción de un lado del lector de DC

cuando el otro lado está en “pausa”.

EN MODALIDAD CONTINUA O DURANTE LA REPRODUCCION NORMAL:

Si se usa ROBO START sin modalidad AUT O CUE SINGLE (en la modalidad CONTINUA o durante la reproducción normal), la reproducción no alternará automáticamente. Apretando Pausa en el lado de reproducción hará reproducir el otro lado.

1. Durante la reproducción normal, coloque un punto de referencia en el otro lado de reproductor de discos compactos.

2. Apriete el pulsador ROBO START (21) para activar la función ROBO START (el pulsador parpadea).

3. Apriete el pulsador PLAY/PAUSE (6) en el lado reproducido para empezar la reproducción desde el punto de referencia en el otro lado.

SOLUCION DE PROBLEMAS:

• Si le disco gira pero no se oye nada, verifique la conexión de los cables. Si todo está en orden, verifique el amplificador o el receptor.

• Si salta el disco compacto, verifique el disco (suciedad o rascaduras). No suponga que el reproductor tiene defecto. Muchos discos compactos se registran fuera de las especificaciones y saltarán en la mayoría o en todos los reproductores. BEND. Dans la modalité BPM ou PITCH, les touches pour BPM/PITCH (26) augmenteront ou diminueront le pourcentage de la hauteur du son ou les BPMs de – ou + 4%. ZOOM: Le fait d’appuyer sur la touche ZOOM (27) change la durée de temporisation, ce qui produit un effet arrondisseur en tournant la roue jog. FILTER – FIL TRE: Le fait d’appuyer sur la touche FIL TER (28) change la fréquence de coupe du son de lecture quand la roue jog est tournée. REVERSE – ARRIÈRE: T apez légèrement sur la touche REVERSE (29) pour reproduire votre sélection musicale dans la séquence inverse. BRAKE – FREIN: Le fait de presser PLAY ou PAUSE avec BRAKE (30) produit un son de DC comme si un disque normal s’arrêterait. HOLD – MAINTENIR: Appuyez sur HOLD (31) après avoir pressé ZOOM (27) ou FILTER (28) pour maintenir les paramètres pour l’effet choisi. SCRATCH – ACCROC: Appuyez sur la touche SCRA TCH (32) pour que le disque compacte produise des accrocs comme un disque normal. DIGITAL OUTPUT JACK (BNC) – JACK DE SORTIE NUMÉRIQUE (BNC): Utilisez le BNC (33) pour réaliser le branchement à n’importe quel appareil qui accepte des signaux numériques. LINE OUTPUT JACKS – JACKS DE SORTIE DE LIGNE: Les LINE OUTPUT JACKS (34) offrent un son stéréo par l’intermédiaire de câbles RCA à votre mélangeur ou récepteur.

Nos félicitations à l’occasion de l’achat du lecteur CD-1800X de Gemini. Cet appareil de lecture DC ultramoderne est appuyé par une

garantie de trois ans, à l’exclusion des lasers. Garantie de un an sur les lasers DC. Avant son emploi, nous vous recommandons de lire soigneusement toutes les instructions.

ATTENTION:

N’utilisez pas cet appareil à des températures en-dessous de 5° C/41° F ou au-dessus de 35° C/95° F. L’appareil ne doit pas être exposé à l’égouttement ou aux éclaboussures; aucun objet rempli de liquide telle qu’une vase ne devrait être placé sur celui-ci. Placez l’appareil dans un lieu propre et sec. Ne mettez pas l’appareil dans un lieu instable. Lorsque vous retirez le cordon d’une prise c.a. du secteur, prenez-le toujours par la fiche. Ne tirez jamais au cordon-même. Pour éviter un choc électrique, n’enlevez pas le couvercle ou les vis au fond. L’appareil ne contient pas de pièces à remplacer par l’utilisateur. SELECTION DE LA TENSION DE SECTEUR:

Le modèle CD-1800X est un appareil à deux tensions. Il marchera sur 115 ou 230 volts. Pour choisir la tension correcte, faites ce qui suit:

1. Placez la tête d’un tournevis au centre du SELECTEUR DE TENSION – VOLTAGE SELECTOR (36) sur le panneau arrière.

2. Glissez le sélecteur à gauche pour 115 volts ou à droite pour 230 volts.

3. Ne forcez et ne tordez pas le sélecteur. Une force excessive risque de l’abîmer. Si le sélecteur ne se déplace pas bien, contactez un technicien qualifié.

CONNEXIONS:

1. Enfichez une extrémité d’un jeu de connecteurs bdans chacun des jacks LINE OUT (34).

2. Enfichez l’autre extrémité des connecteurs RCA dans tout jack d’entrée de niveau de ligne disponible sur votre mixer. Si vous faites passer l’appareil CD-1800X à travers un récepteur, vous pouvez enficher les connecteurs RCA dans les jacks d’entrée CD ou AUX sur votre récepteur. S’il n’y a pas d’entrées CD ou AUX, utilisez n’importe quelles entrées de niveau de ligne (sauf phono).

3. Les crics du rendement de DIGITAL BNC (5) sont pour se relier à n’importe quel type de DAT, de MD, de DISQUE DUR, ou de n’importe quel autre type de dispositif qui acceptent les signaux numériques.

Utilisez la JOG WHEEL (10) pour adapter la hauteur du son pour obtenir une synchronisation précise dans le mode de lecture, pour le grattement et les réglages des paramètres référence et effets.

(11) STOP/EJECT

du CD. Serrez une fois pour s’arrêter, pour éjecter deux fois, ou tenez pour éjecter le CD.

PREVIEW (16) vous renvoie au point repère préalablement enregistré.

(17) HOT START CUE 1

à l’aide de la touche CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) ou FL Y CUE (13), vous pouvez revenir à ce point de référence à tout moment durant la performance musicale simplement en appuyant sur la touche HOT

START CUE 1 (17). La musique retournera automatiquement à ce point.

(18) AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUOUS

AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUE/CONTINUE (18) activera la fonction AUTO CUE. Cette fonction provoque l’arrêt automatique de la lecture à

l’issue de chaque plage lue. L’appareil se met automatiquement en mode PAUSE et se cale au début de la plage suivante en évitant les blancs car ce dernier se cale à la première note. Le fait d’appuyer une seconde fois sur la touche AUTO CUE SINGLE/CONTINUE (18) activera la fonction CONTINUOUS (EN CONTINU) ce qui fera jouer l’appareil sans interruption entre chaque plage (après lecture de la dernière plage, l’appareil retournera à la première plage du disque et continuera la lecture). Le fait d’appuyer une troisième fois sur la touche AUTO

CUE SINGLE/CONTINUE (18) désactive la fonction CONTINUOUS.

(19) SET CUE:

ACCESS (9) (touches d’accès direct) pour établir un POINT DE RÉFÉRENCE. Voir la section CONSIGNES D’INSERTION pour de plus amples informations.

(20) HOT STARTS CUE 2-4

individuel, appuyez sur la touche SET CUE (19), puis sur une touche de référence (Cue 2-4). Vous pouvez établir un maximum de 3 POINTS DE RÉFÉRENCE. Lorsque la musique joue, et vous voulez qu’elle saute à un des POINTS DE RÉFÉRENCE, il suffit de presser cette touche de référence particulière (Cue 2-4) et la musique passera automatiquement à ce point.

(21) ROBO START

cette fonction (la touche clignotera). Utilisez ROBO START (21) dans le mode AUTO CUE SINGLE pour alterner la lecture entre les deux côtés du lecteur DC (une piste d’un côté, puis une piste de l’autre côté). Voir les instructions pour ROBO START pour de plus amples instructions.

: L’effet ZOOM (27) change le délai de temporisation en

tournant la roue pas-à-pas, ce qui mélange une courte temporisation avec la reproduction. Cette fonction vous permet de produire le son d’un réacteur avec un seul lecteur de DC. Lorsque le doigt est maintenu sur DISPLAY (4), les paramètres des effets sont montrés pour un réglage précis.

: L’effet FILTER (28) vous permet de changer la fréquence coupée de la reproduction lorsque la roue pas-à-pas est tournée. Ceci permet au DJ d’extraire et de reproduire certaines parties de la reproduction. Lorsque le doigt est maintenu sur DISPLAY (4), les paramètres des effets sont montrés pour un réglage précis.

Pour mémoriser l’endroit à partir duquel vous souhaitez commencer la lecture, le POINT DE REPÈRE, choisissez la plage correcte, et appuyez ensuite sur la touche PLAY/PAUSE (6) de sorte que l’appareil passe en mode lecture (la DEL PLAY/PAUSE s’allumera). Écoutez le CD et lorsqu’il s’approche de l’endroit approximatif, appuyez sur la touche

PLA Y/PAUSE (6) de sorte que l’appareil passe en mode PAUSE (la DEL PLAY/PAUSE clignotera). Déplacez le JOG WHEEL (10) ou utilisez les

touches SEARCH DIAL (8) pour retrouver l’endroit précis à partir duquel vous voulez com mencer la lecture et appuyez sur la touche PLA Y/P AUSE (6) pour mémoriser le POINT DE REPÈRE. Ou vous pouvez appuyer sur la Ou vous pouvez appuyer sur la touche HOT START 1 (17) pour revenir au POINT DE REPÈRE mémorisé et pour commencer la lecture immédiatement à partir de ce point. Pour utiliser FL Y CUE 1(13) afin d’introduire le POINT DE REPÈRE, suivez les instructions ci-après:

1. L’appareil étant en mode PLAY(la DEL PLAY/PAUSE s’allume), appuyez sur la touche FLY CUE (5) au point où vous voulez introduire le POINT DE REPÈRE (l’appareil continuera à jouer). Maintenant, le POINT DE REPÈRE est mémorisé. Appuyez sur la touche RETOUR (7) et l’appareil commencera la lecture immédiatement à partir du POINT DE REPÈRE. Ou vous pouvez appuyer sur la touche REPÈRE (10) pour revenir au POINT DE REPÈRE mémorisé dans le mode PAUSE, puis, appuyez sur la touche LECTURE/PAUSE (6) pour commencer la lecture instantanément à partir du POINT DE REPÈRE.

Appuyez sur CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) pour valider le POINT DE REPÈRE. Vous pouvez effectuer cette opération y compris en mode PLAY; ainsi vous pouvez mémoriser un POINT DE REPÈRE tout en continuant la lecture d’une plage. Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche CUE 1/PREVIEW (16) pour revenir au POINT DE REPÈRE mémorisé dans le mode PAUSE, puis, appuyez sur la touche PLAY/PAUSE (6) pour commencer la lecture à partir du POINT DE REPÈRE. Ou vous pouvez appuyer sur la touche RETURN (15) pour revenir au POINT DE REPÈRE mémorisé et pour commencer la lecture immédiatement à partir de ce point (si la boucle n’a pas été mémorisée).

POINTS DE REPÈRE, GARDEZ L’AFFICHAGE DU TEMPS DANS LE MODE TEMPS ÉCOULÉ. LORSQUE VOUS UTILISEZ LES TOUCHES DIRECT ACCESS (ACCÈS DIRECT) POUR ÉTABLIR UN POINT DE REPÈRE, LA PLAGE, LA MINUTE, LA SECONDE ET LA TRAME APPARTIENNENT TOUJOURS AU TEMPS ÉCOULÉ. SI L’AFFICHAGE DU TEMPS EST EN MODE TRACK REMAIN (TEMPS RESTANT SUR LA PLAGE) OU EN MODE TOTAL REMAIN (TEMPS TOTAL RESTANT SUR LE DISQUE), LA PLAGE, LA MINUTE, LA SECONDE ET LA TRAME AFFICHÉES CORRESPONDRONT AU TEMPS RESTANT SUR LA PLAGE EN COURS DE LECTURE ET NON PAS AUX INDICA TIONS (PLAGE, MINUTE, ONDE ET TRAME) QUE VOUS AVEZ INDIQUÉES AFIN DE MÉMORISER VOTRE POINT DE REPÈRE.

2. Pour régler précisément un POINT DE REPÈRE, mettez l’appareil en mode PAUSE à l’endroit ou se situe le POINT DE REPÈRE mémorisé (la DEL du POINT DE REPÈRE s’allume et la DEL de LECTURE/PAUSE clignote); puis, utilisez la JOG WHEEL (16) ou les SEARCH (9) pour effectuer un calage très précis (au 1/75ème de seconde) jusqu’à l’endroit où vous souhaitez débuter la lecture (la DEL de repère clignotera durant la recherche). Appuyez sur le bouton LECTURE/

PAUSE (1 1) pour mémoriser ce nouveau POINT DE REPÈRE.

REMARQUE: DURANT LE RÉGLAGE PRÉCIS, IL Y AURA UN EFFET DE BÉGAIEMENT (POUR

VOUS AIDER À TROUVER LA MESURE). CET EFFET S’ARRÊTERA LORSQUE VOUS APPUIEREZ SUR LE BOUTON LECTURE/PAUSE (6) POUR MÉMORISER LE POINT DE REPÈRE.

INSTRUCTIONS POUR ROBO START

EN MODE SINGLE-AUTO CUE:

Utilisez ROBO ST ART (21) en MODE SINGLE-AUTO CUE pour alterner la reproduction entre les deux joueurs de CD-1800X DC (une piste d’un côté, puis l’autre de l’autre côté). Dans le Mode SINGLE-AUTO CUE, la reproduction commence immédiatement sans espace blanc ou “mort”. ROBO START cause la reproduction d’un côté du lecteur de DC tandis que l’autre est au repos.

2. Pressez la touche ROBO START (21) pour activer la fonction ROBO START (la touche clignotera).

3. Pressez la touche PLAY/PAUSE (6) sur le côté qui joue pour com mencer la lecture à partir du point de référence sur l’autre côté.

REMARQUE: LE FAIT DE PAUSER LE CÔTÉ DE LECTURE À MI-CHEMIN D’UNE PISTE CAUSE

LA LECTURE DE L’AUTRE CÔTÉ. QUAND LA PISTE SE TERMINE, LA LECTURE COMMENCERA À PARTIR DU MI-CHEMIN DE LA PISTE OÙ LA LECTURE S’EST PAUSÉE.

SOLUTION DES PANNES:

• Si le disque ne joue pas, vérifiez si le disque a été chargé convenablement (étiquette en haut). Vérifiez également si le disque ne contient pas trop de saletés, égratignures, etc.

• Si le disque tourne mais il n’y a pas de son, vérifiez le branchement des câbles. S’il n’y a rien d’anormal, contrôlez votre amplificateur ou récepteur.

• Si le disque compacte saute, contrôlez le disque pour la présence de saletés ou d’égratignures. Ne supposez pas que le lecteur DC est défectueux. De nombreux DC sont enregistrés en dehors des spécifications et ils sauteront sur la plupart ou sur tous les lecteurs DC. Avant d’envoyer l’appareil pour réparation, essayer de jouer un DC dont vous êtes certain qu’il joue convenablement.

1. Engagez le mode AUTO CUE-SINGLE avec la touche AUTO CUE-

SINGLE/CONTINUOUS (18).

2. Appuyez sur la touche ROBO START (21) pour activer ROBO START. La reproduction alternera entre les deux lecteurs de DC. A la fin d’une piste, le côté de reproduction se met au repos et le côté de reproduction se met en pause et le premier côté se remet à reproduire.

EN MODE CONTINU OU DURANT LA LECTURE NORMALE:

Si vous utilisez ROBO START sans AUTO CUE SINGLE mode (en mode CONTINU ou durant la lecture normale), la lecture alternera automatiquement. Le fait de presser Pause sur le côté qui joue causera la lecture de l’autre côté.
