PURPOSE
This procedure describes the steps necessary to assemble a PRODIGY Series scanning system at a
customer's site, and to assure that the system is operating within GE-LUNAR's specifications and in
compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations.
SCOPE
This procedure applies to all employees performing installation of a PRODIGY Series scanning system.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Ionizing Radiation Exposure: When power is applied, this equipment may generate ionizing radiation. Take
precautions that no part of the body passes through the x-ray beam when the equipment is energized. Avoid
scatter radiation during warm-up and testing by maintaining a safe distance from the x-ray beam. See the
Safety and Specification manual for equipment appropriate distance and other precautions regarding ionizing
radiation. All operators must be properly trained regarding ionizing radiation and take adequate steps to
protect against injury.
Electric Shock: This equipment contains high voltages. When the tabletop/panels/ shrouds are removed,
visually confirm that power cord is unplugged and remains unplugged until power is required to complete the
procedure. When servicing while energized, take precautions to prevent electric shock.
Moving Parts and Pinch Points: Avoid moving parts and pinch points (e.g. belt/pulley, arm/back rail, green
wheels/rail).
Sharp Edges: Take precautions to prevent injury from contact with component edges (e.g. OMI/OMD wheel,
arm slot cover).
Hot Surfaces: Keep hands clear or allow components to cool before servicing. (e.g. stepper motors, hard drives,
power supplies and microprocessors).
Heavy Lifting: Assess the lift first. Obtain help lifting or moving any object weighing over EHS limits. Undertake
any heavy lift tasks with a minimum of 2 persons. Ask for assistance when maneuvering awkward objects (e.g.
tabletop). Use mechanical assistance where practical. Flex knees to maintain a straight back. Avoid abrupt,
sudden movements or pulls. Wear safety shoes and safety gloves.
Laser Radiation: Do not stare into the laser beam at any time. The reflection from the tabletop or
shutter/collimator assembly is sufficient to determine if the laser is on.
FRAGILE PART PRECAUTIONS
See the GEHC Myworkshop System to determine the status of this document.
Brittle Components: Some parts can be irreparably damaged by sudden impact such as being dropped even
short distances. For example, parts containing glass or crystal should be handled with care.
Electronic Components: Circuit boards are sensitive to electrostatic discharge and are brittle.

PROCEDURE/PROCESS STEPS
For Prodigy Mobile systems:
1. Complete DXAP2016 and keep with the installation records.
1. UNCRATING THE SCAN TABLE
A. The scan table assembly is attached to 4 wood blocks on a shipping pallet
with lag bolts. These lag bolts are on the inside of the scan table, through the
bottom frame. Remove all four bolts.
B. Carefully (using a minimum of two people) lift the scan table straight up and
off of the pallet, so it rests on the ground on the casters.
C. Remove the arm assembly from its crate. The arm may only be set down on
its backside with the Upper arm and lower extrusion pointing up.
Carefully bring the scan arm assembly into room where scanner is to be
installed.
D. Bring the scan table into the room. It may be placed on its back on a 4-wheel
dolly if necessary.
E. If door and hallway clearance of the customer’s facility require, the scan table
may be split according to procedure DXAP2013 PRODIGY/ PRODIGY
ADVANCE Split Frame Installation Procedure.
F. Position the scan table assembly in the room (on the casters) so the back of
the scanner is accessible (in order to install the arm).
NOTE: The outer covers of the scan arm are plastic, be careful, as they will scratch or
fracture easily – do not remove the foam wrapped around the arm until it is in the
room where it will be installed.
See the GEHC Myworkshop System to determine the status of this document.

list shipped with the scanner. Check off each item on the pick list as it is
unpacked; include the completed pick list with the Installation Report.
If there is evidence any equipment has been damaged in shipment, or if items
are missing, notify GE-LUNAR Customer Care immediately. USA installers
should call the DOA Hotline at 888-281-4947.
2. HOST COMPUTER SETUP
A. Remove all components from the boxes.
B. Position the computer, monitor, and printer on the console table or work
surface(s) provided by the customer. If the scanners isolated power, or isolation
transformer is not used, the Host PC must be at least 1.83 meters (6 feet) from
the scan table.
C. Connect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer to the computer.
D. Feed the supplied paper and ink cartridges into the printer according to the
printer manufacturer’s instructions.
E. Connect the printer to using USB port on the Host PC.
F. Connect the monitor to the Host PC.
