making sure the line package can slide off the rod easily. If the
package fits the rod too tightly, pull line from the center of the
tube until the package can slide off the rod easily. On firing, the
cartridge will enter the conduit first, pulling the package behind.
USING BULK NYLON LINE
Figure 8
GUNSLINGER with
Bulk Nylon Line
To tie line to the cartridge, hold the end of the line against the
side of the cartridge with your thumb. Wind three or four turns of
the line around the neck of the cartridge between the taper and
ring. Loop two half hitches over the ring and follow with a reverse
half hitch, then pull the line to tighten. Bulk Nylon Line is easily
held by extending the thumb and fingers around the pistol grip to
grasp the line pack as shown in Figure 8 above.
When cocking the GUNSLINGER, always hold the barrel pointing
in a safe direction. Do not aim the GUNSLINGER at people. Do
not fire the CO2 cartridge in an open room or at people. Serious
injury will result.
TO COCK GUN simply pull the cocking knob (located at the rear
of the barrel) back until it clicks and catches. It may be necessary
to squeeze trigger to aid in pulling knob back.
INSERT THE CARTRIDGE (with line attached) into the barrel,
neck first. Make sure that the line cannot get caught on any part
of the gun or conduit box. Seat the cartridge to the back of the
chamber with the gun cocked and make sure the retaining spring
is strong enough to hold it there for proper firing.
FIRING AND ENTERING CONDUIT
1. The cartridge used with Bulk Nylon Line may be fired directly
into conduit 1 1/4" through 6". With the line package, use the
entrance adapter. Use the entrance adapter around 'hot'
panels and for 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" conduit sizes. Use the nose
cone (#550) in conduit 3" and larger.
2. Enter larger conduit directly. Just insert the barrel into the
opening and pull the trigger.
USE CARTRIDGE NOSE CONE (Figure 4) for all conduit three inches and above. Force the open end of the cone down over the rounded nose of the cartridge about one inch. The nose cone will prevent
the cartridge from turning in the conduit and reversing its direction.
TO USE THE LINE PACKAGE AND BULK NYLON LINE
TOGETHER tie the free end of the line package to the line from
the center of the Bulk Nylon Line. Insert the line package on the
rod and hold Bulk Nylon Line as illustrated in Figure 8. The line
will be pulled from Bulk Nylon Line after the cartridge and package have gone approximately 200 feet.
In some cases, the cartridge exits the other end of the conduit
with such force that it may be necessary to protect existing switch
gear in the enclosure to prevent damage. DO NOT TRY TO
CATCH THE CARTRIDGE WITH YOUR HANDS. SERIOUS OR
CRITICAL INJURY may result to anyone struck by the cartridge
exiting the conduit. Warn all personnel to stand clear of the conduit exit prior to firing the cartridge into the conduit.
