3. Descriptionе
The chargers SMART100/12, SMART 180/12are designed to charge lead acid batteries with liquid
or gel electrolyte, nominal voltage from6V or 12V, and withcapacity according tothe following table:
Options:
1. Charger
2. The cables connect to the battery
3. Instruction manual
4. Packing
Your machine has been designed with a maximum of protections:
- The charge clamps are fully isolated.
- The polarity reversal and the short circuits do not cause any danger. A double fuse ensures the protection. The replacement needs to be done manually.
- The protection against the transformer overloads or starting on the charge position is ensured by a circuit breaker on the front panel of the machine.
- If it trips, a manual reactivation is needed.
- Thermal protection: your machine is protected by a thermostat (cooling about 1/4h). A red indicator lights in case of overheating.

Ensure that thecorrect sequence isfollowed. Precaution: Check electrolytelevel if possibleand fill ifnecessary before charging.
Plug the charger into the mains (220 V). Indicators 5 and 6 which correspond to the last stored
data switch on(see Troubleshooting- Symptom 6).
Select your battery voltage (6V, 12V, 24V) accordingto the indications written on your battery orto
the coupling done.(in series orparallel see).
Choose the capacityof your battery. The chargerwill select thecharging current automatically. Connect the clamps:Red clamp onthe battery “+”and black clampon the “–“.
Charger starts charging automatically and will indicate after 30 seconds if the battery needs the de-sulphation process. Theindicators 1 and2 indicate thecharge state ofyour battery. During a power cut, charger stores the charge state (except in «SOS Recovery» mode), so the charge can continueafter the powercut.
When the batteryis charged, unplugthe power cable.
Unplug the clampsor the batteryconnector.
If the battery is heavily discharged (very low voltage), the charge will not start automatically. The charge indicator 1 does not switch on. The battery voltage indicators 5, and capacity 6 switch on. In this case, select the voltage and the charge current then press the battery voltage button 3 for 5 seconds to start a «forced charge». The orange indicator 1 will switch on when the button is released. If noindicators switch on, your battery is unrecoverable.

If the SOS Recovery indicator 7 flashes when a battery is connected, this indicates that your battery is deeply discharged, and sulphation hasstarted. The «SOS Recovery» function delivers a specific charging curve for between 24 to 48 hours to regenerate the battery. To activate this function follow the steps below:
1. The vehiclebattery MUST BE DISCONNECTED (overvoltage danger).
2. Connect chargerto the mains
3. Select chargingvoltage
4. Activate «SOS Recovery» by pressing button4 for 5 seconds until the indicator 7 switches on (the indicators 6 willflash).
