Remote Control Operation
Locking the Doors
Using the P owerCode Remote Control Transmitter: Press* the button on the P owerCode remote control transmitter . The system will lock
the doors and flash the parking lights. If the button is pressed a second time within 5 seconds, the system will chirp the horn to confirm that the system has locked the doors.
Note: Your Po werCode system provides the added security feature of starter interrupt whenev er the doors are locked.
Unlocking the Doors
Press* the button on the P owerCode remote control transmitter . The system will unlock the doors and flash the parking lights. If the button is pressed a second time within 5 seconds, the system will chirp the horn confirming that the system has unlocked the doors. Additionally , the P ow erCode system turns on the interior dome light for one minute, or until the ignition key is turned on to provide an illuminated entry into your vehicle.
When the doors are unlocked using the P owerCode remote control transmitter , the system disarms the starter interrupt feature.
Convenience and Safety Features
Remote Control P ower Trunk/Hatch release: Press and hold** the button on your P owerCode remote control tr ansmitter. The
system will activate the power trunk or hatch release (if equipped) and disarm the security system.
Note: Make sure to rearm the security system if you will be leaving y our vehicle unattended again after opening your trunk or rear hatch.

Valet mode V alet mode is used to prev ent the starter interrupt from arming. V alet is normally used
when when valet parking or leaving your v ehcile for service. T o engage valet mode, turn the ignition key to the ON or R UN position and press the
and buttons together on the Po werCode remote control transmitter . The system will begin flashing the dash mounted status indicator in a double-flash pattern indicating that the system is in valet mode.
T o return the system to its normal operating mode, turn the ignition key to the ON or RUN position and press the and buttons on the P owerCode remote control transmitter again. The status indicator will shut off, indicating that the system is in now in its normal operating mode.
Remote Control Operation (Con’t)
Remote Control Panic Mode The remote control panic function helps draw attention to your v ehicle and yourself in a
threatening situation. Press and hold the
and buttons together on your Pow erCode remote control transmitter to activate the panic function. Pressing the and buttons together on the Pow erCode transmitter prior to the end of the 30 second cycle will end the panic mode.
Illuminated Exit When the ignition is turned off, the vehicle courtesy lights will turn on for 1 minute, or until
doors are locked with the P owerCode remote control transmitter .
The Interior Status Indicator The Status Indicator is a high-intensity red light mounted in a visible location on the
vehicle instrument panel. This red light gives a visual indication of the system’s state of operation. Note the chart below:

Automatic starter interrupt: Your Po werCode security system can be programmed to lock out the starter
automatically . Y our P owerCode security system is progr ammed from the factory for manual arming of the starter interrupt. If you would like to activ ate the automatic starter lockout f eature, contact 1-800-FORD-KEY f or instructions on activating this and/or your systems other programmable f eatures.
When automatic starter interrupt is activated, one minute after the ignition key has been turned off the system will lock out the starter.

Emergency Starter Interrupt Disarm Procedure
If your remote control transmitter is lost or fails to function, use this procedure to start your vehicle.
1. Use the k eys to enter the v ehicle.
2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn to the ON position.
3. Locate and press the progr amming/override button mounted under the instrument
panel.
System Maintenance
Changing the Remote Control Battery: The 12-volt alkaline battery supplied in your remote control should last approximately one y ear, depending on usage . When the battery begins to weaken, you will notice a decrease in range, or the distance from your vehicle that y our remote transmitter will operate. Follo w the instructions below to change the remote
transmitter battery .
1. Insert the edge of a coin into the slot at the top of the remote
control. Twist the coin to pry the remote control halves apart.
2. Remo ve the old battery and replace with a new one. Be sure to
observe the (+) and (-) signs in the battery compartment.
3. Carefully snap the case halv es back together , then test the
remote control.
It is not necessary to re-program the remote control after changing the battery .
Adding Remote Controls to Your System: The system has the ability to operate from up to eight (8) remote controls. F ollow these instructions to add a remote control to your system.
1. Mak e sure the security system is disarmed and the ignition is off.
2. Open the driv ers door .
3. Turn vehicle ignition on.
4. Press and hold progr amming/override button under the instrument panel.
After 15 seconds, the horn will chirp three (3) times. This indicates that the unit has entered the remote control programming mode.
5. Release the programming/ov erride button.
6. Press the button on the remote control to be programmed.
The siren or horn will sound once, indicating that the system has “learned” that remote control.
7. Repeat step 6 f or any additional remote controls.
8. Turn the vehicle ignition off to exit the programming mode . Test all remote controls to
ensure that they work properly . Deleting Lost or Stolen Remote Control Transmitters from Your System: Lost or stolen Po werCode remote control transmitters can be easily deleted by
reprogramming all eight transmitter code locations. F ollow the steps abov e and program any combination of transmitters a total of eight times.

FORD VEHICLE SECURITY/KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY
BASIC COVERAGE
Ford Motor company will repair or replace any properly installed Ford Vehicle Security/Keyless Entry System found defective in factory-supplied material or workmanship during the warranty period, as well as any component damage by the defective accessory. The accessory will be warranted for whichever provides the greater benefit:
¤ 12 months or 12,000 miles from your system purchase date/mileage (whichever occurs first) ¤ the remainder of your new vehicle limited warranty
This means that Ford Vehicle Security/Keyless Entry Systems purchased along with your new vehicle are covered for up to the length of the Ford or Lincoln Mercury new vehicle limited warranty.
LIFETIME COVERAGE
A limited lifetime parts warranty (labor not included) covers any parts of the Passive/Manual Ford Vehicle Security/Keyless Entry System that are found to be defective in factory material or workmanship. They will be repaired or replaced without charge for the parts as long as the original Ford or Lincoln-Mercury vehicle retail purchaser owns the vehicle in which the system was originally installed.
CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS
To receive warranty service, Purchaser must fulfill the following requirements:
1) Return the vehicle to the original selling dealers place of business during regular business hours for warranty service.
2) Present the Dealer with the Purchasers copy of the original invoice showing date of purchase and installation if applicable. If the Purchaser is traveling or has moved to a different location, any authorized Ford Motor Company dealer will fulfill this warranty.
EXCLUSIONS
THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER PARTS THAT ARE DAMAGED BY MISUSE, NEGLECT, ALTERATION, ABUSE, ACCIDENT, FIRE, FLOOD, LIGHTNING, IT DOES NOT COVER PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY SERVICED OR USED IN APPLICATIONS FOR WHICH THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED OR APPROVED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY; IT DOES NOT COVER FAILURES CAUSED BY NON-FORD PARTS. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that may vary from state to state. Ford Motor Company does not authorize any person to create for it any other obligation or liability in connection with the Ford Vehicle Security/Keyless Entry Systems. TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE IS LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY. NEITHER FORD MOTOR COMPANY NOR THE SELLING DEALER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OF TIME, INCONVENIENCE, COMMERCIAL LOSS, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty will last or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages so the above limitation may not apply to you.
