swelling.
Skin: Skin irritant. Contact may cause redness, itching, burning and
skin damage. No harmful effects from skin absorption have
been reported.
Inhalation (Breathing): Low to moderate degree of toxicity by inhalation.
Ingestion (Swallowing): Low to moderate degree of toxicity by ingestion.
Signs and Symptoms: Effects of overexposure may include irritation of the nose,
throat and digestive tract; coughing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
abdominal pain, breathing difficulties, and blood disorders
(methemoglobinemia).

Other Comments: This material contains nitrate salts. Nitrates may be reduced by
intestinal bacteria to nitrite. When absorbed, nitrites may
result in effects on the blood (methemoglobinemia) and blood
vessels (vasodilating and a fall in blood pressure). Symptoms of
toxicity may include headache, fainting, fatigue, cyanosis,
confusion, irregular heartbeats, and possible respiratory
paralysis. Pre-existing heart disease may be aggravated by
exposure to nitrates.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: Conditions aggravated by exposure may include heart, blood
vessel and skin disorders.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If
breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
Skin contact: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Wash clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before
reuse. Get medical attention if symptoms occur
Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get
medical attention immediately.
Ingestion: Induce vomiting immediately as directed by medical personnel.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get
medical attention.
SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Fire: Not considered to be a fire hazard.
Explosion: Reactions with incompatibles may pose an explosion hazard.
Fire Extinguishing Media: Use any means suitable for extinguishing surrounding fire.
Special Information: In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-
approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece
operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure
mode.
