The Extron MTP SW6 is designed for applications that require up to six MTP

transmitters to be switched to a single MTP receiver. It is compatible with all

Extron MTP Series Mini Twisted Pair products, enabling a complete twisted pair

switching solution from source to display.

FEATURES

The Extron MTP SW6 is a six input, one output UTP switcher that
is fully compatible with all MTP transmitters, receivers, distribution
amplifiers, and matrix switchers. The switcher is designed for
applications where up to six MTP transmitters are required to
be switched to a single MTP receiver to provide a complete
twisted pair switching solution from source to display. When
paired with the Extron MTP Universal Receiver, the MTP SW6 is
ideal for applications where a variety of signal formats, including
composite, S-video, component, HD component, or RGB, must be
switched to a single display.

The MTP SW6 provides the capability to store unique settings for
each input, including video level and peaking, as well as dynamic
skew equalization, ensuring optimal image quality with various
input cable lengths. These settings are automatically recalled
when an input is selected.

The MTP SW6 features four flexible methods of control -- front
panel, RS-232, contact closure, and auto-input switching, which
automatically switches to the highest-numbered input with an
active video signal. The local RS-232 insertion port eliminates the
need for a separate control cable infrastructure and extends serial
control over long distances.

The MTP SW6 also provides compatibility for stereo sound
systems as its local dual mono audio output with volume control
distributes mono audio feeds into two channels. An output video
pre-peaking feature provides additional compensation for optimal
performance with the longest cable runs, ensuring the highest
quality signal at the display. The switcher is housed in a compact,
1U, half rack width enclosure.

design flexibility when selecting components, and allows the use of
an economical UTP cable infrastructure for A/V system integration.

n Dynamic skew equalization – Adjustments are stored in memory

for each input, maintaining RGB color alignment at all times.

n Video level and peaking compensation on each input – Actively

compensates for input signal attenuation for various cable lengths,
resulting in a brighter and sharper image.

n Switchable video pre-peaking for output – Provides additional

compensation for optimal performance on the longest cable runs,
ensuring the highest quality signal at the display.

n Local dual mono audio output – Provides two line level mono

audio outputs for direct connection of audio equipment that is
located within the same rack as the MTP SW6.

n Local audio output volume adjustment and muting – Audio

output volume and muting is controllable by RS-232, eliminating
the need for a preamplifier in many systems.

n Auto-input switching– Automatically switches to the highest-

numbered input with an active video signal.

n Local RS-232 insertion port – Allows direct insertion of bi-

directional serial control signals into the UTP output. This
eliminates the need for additional control system wiring to
the remote display and extends the serial control beyond the
recommended 100-foot distance.

n RS-232 and contact closure control – Provides versatile control

options, simplifying remote control integration.

n External universal power supply included, Part #70-055-01 –

Provides worldwide power capability.

Automatically Routes Incoming UTP Signal to Appropriate Video, Audio & RS 232 Connectors

MTP U Series universal receivers are fully compatible with all MTP switchers, matrix
switchers, and transmitters. With their compact size, they can fit just about anywhere: in equipment
racks, under tables and desktops, or next to a projector.

When paired with Extron MTP U Series Universal Mini Twisted Pair Receivers, the MTP SW6 Twisted
Pair Switcher allows composite video, S-video, component video, and VGA, along with audio or
RS-232 control signals, to be sent over a single CAT5 cable and output on the appropriate connector
at the display. Using one cable for all signal types simplifies system wiring and uses only a single
MTP U Series receiver per display.
