2.3.1. Ethernet Connection

The 7800FC i s designed to be used with either 10Base-T (10 Mbps), 100Base-TX (100 Mbps) al so known as Fast Ethernet , or 1000B ase-TX (1000 MBps) tw i st ed pair Ethernet cabl i ng system s. When connecting for 1 0B ase-T sys tem s , c at egory 3, 4, or 5 UT P c abl e as w el l as EI A /T IA – 568 100Ω ST P c ab l e m ay b e used. W hen connecting for 100Base-T X sy stem s, cat egory 5 UTP cab le is req uir ed. W hen connec ting for 1000Base-T system, category 5, 5e, 6, or 7 UTP cable is required. The cable must be “straightthrough” with a RJ-45 c onnec t or at eac h end (S ee Table 2-1). Mak e th e network connection by plugging one end of the cable into the RJ-45 receptacle of the 7800FC and the other end into a port of the supporting hub. W hen connecting a 7800FC dir ect l y t o th e Et her net por t on a com p ut er you wi ll have to use a “crossover” cable as shown in Figure 2-4.

The straight-through RJ-45 cable can be purchased or can be constructed using t he pi nout inform ation in Table 2-1. A colour code wiring table is provided in Table 2-1 for the c urren t RJ-45 standards (AT&T 258A or EIA/TIA 258B colour coding shown). Also refer to the notes following the table for additional wiring guide information.

2.4.1. Safety Guidelines and Precautions Concer n ing th e Use of 3V Lithium Batteries

Pl eas e ob ser ve t h e f ol lowin g w ar ni n g s s t r i ctl y. I f mi sused, the batteries may explode or leak, causing injury or d amage to th e equipment.
• The batteries must b e inserted into the equipment with the correct polarity (+ and -)
• Do not attem pt to revive used batteries by heating , charging or other means
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Do not dismantle batter ies
• Do not short circuit batteries
• Do not expose batt eries to high temperatures, moisture or di rect sunlight
• Do not place batter ies on a conductive surface (anti-stati c work m at, packaging bag or form trays)
as i t can cause the batt ery to s hort
