EDKS-4 IP Device Kill Switch Instructions
The EDKS-4 is a device designed to interrupt the power and streaming of data from up to 4 a IP cameras or other
Ethernet connected devices The EDKS-4 is placed in-line with the end device's CAT5 Ethernet cable. When 12Vdc power
is applied to the EDKS-4 terminal block, the end devices are disconnected from the network switch. When power is
removed, the end devices are on-line. A switch can be mounted on the wall of the room along with an external power
source to trigger the EDKS-4. Other equipment that outputs a 12vdc 100ma power source can also be used to trigger
the EDKS-4.
Mounting
The EDKS-4 is typically mounted near the PoE network switch but can be located an y pl ace between the end point device and the
network switch.
CAT5 connections
The EDKS-4 is placed in-line with the CAT5 connection that normally connects to your end point device. T wo standard CAT 5 Ethernet
cables are required for each channel.
Control Voltage Cable Run
Run a 22 gauge, two conductor cable between the terminal blocks of the EDKS-4 and the 12Vdc control source. This cable can be up
to 1000’ in length. See diagram below for connections.
Operational notes
The EDKS-4 will operate with both A and B modes of PoE IP devices. The IP device is connected to the network switch when there is
no 12v applied to the terminal block. When 12v is applied, the device is disconnected. This input is reverse polarity protected.
Warranty
All ETS products carry a one year parts and labor warranty. This warranty does not cover damages as a result of misuse, improper
handling of the unit or exposure to extreme temperatures or moisture. At its discretion, ETS reserves the right to repair or replace this
unit under the conditions of the warranty. If you experience problems with your equipment call ETS at: 505-888-3923 to obtain a return
authorization number. Equipment requiring repair beyond the warrant y period or un its that have been damaged or are not covered
under the warranty can be repaired by ETS for a minimal cost under most conditions.
