Thank you for purchasing the Etón FRX4. We want you
to thoroughly enjoy the use of this product. To take
advantage of it s many excellent and unique features,
we urge you to carefully read the user’s manual.

KEY OPERATIONS
POWER
Press POWER bu tton to turn on the unit and enter
[Radio mode], press again to turn off.
Selecting Radio BAND
In [Radio mode], press BAND button to choose WB, FM
or AM listening. Scroll up/down on tuning buttons to
tune into your radio station. To select WB station for
your area. Scroll up/down tuning buttons until you hear
weather information for your area.
VOL / VOL
Press VOL / to increase/decrease volume level, press
and hold to speed up adjustment.
TUNING / TUNING
In [Radio mode], press TUNING / to adjust frequency,
press and hold it to auto tune into the next available
station.
LIGHT Operation
Press LIGHT button once to tur n on the ashlight,
press it again to turn off. When the ashlight is on, hold
down the LIGHT button to dim/brighten the ashlight.
Press the LIGHT button twice quickly to turn on the red
emergency lights, press it twice again to turn off.
CELL Phone Charging
Plug your phone’s USB charging cable into the USB
out port on the FRX4 and plug the other end into your
phone. Press the CELL phone charger but ton to start
charging, a USB symbol appears in the display. Press it
again to stop charging and the symbol will disappear.
Note: Radio performance may be degraded while using the USB output charging
feature. The audio from weak radio stations may no longer come in clearly.

FRX4 POWER OPTIONS
1000 mAh Lithium Battery
Charge the lithium batter y via the included microUSB cable. Both the solar panel and the crank will
automatically charge to the lithium battery.
Solar Charging
When placed in sunlight, it will automatically start
charging the lithium battery. Bat tery light indicator will
show unit is charging. Fully charges the battery in 5-6
hours.
Crank Charging
Crank for 4 minutes to get 1 minute of talk time on most
smart phones or 10-15 minutes of radio time.
AAA Batteries
Takes 3 AAA batteries. Use a coin to open battery
compartment. Insert as shown on the battery holder and
re-seal compartment.
Note: FRX4 will run on Lithium battery until it runs out and then will automatically
switch to AAA batteries if loaded.
SETTING WEATHERBAND ALERT
Tune to WB for your location and press and hold the
BAND button. ‘Alert ’ will appear in the display and the
audio will turn off. The radio will continue to monitor
your WB station and will activate the audio if an aler t is
issued. Press the band button again to turn off the Aler t.
Note: NOAA does a test alert every Wednesday between 10 am and noon,

SETTING CLOCK
1. With the unit of f, press and hold BAND button until
the clock begins to ash.
2. Adjust the hours using the VOL
3. Adjust the minutes using the TUNING
4. If no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds the unit
will return to normal operations

1. With unit off press and hold the BAND button until
the clock begins to ash.
2. Press and release BAND button again, a bell icon will
appear in the display.

ACTIVATING THE ALARM
1. With the unit of f, press and release the BAND but ton,
a bell icon will appear on the display.

2. Press any button on the radio.
TROUBLE-SHOOTING
If the unit becomes unresponsive, press the RESET
button with a paper clip to reset. If you are having
further problems please contact us.

separately by a local collection system.
Please act according to your local rules and do not
dispose of your old product s with your normal household
waste.

Government, State or Local rules and/or regulations.
If you are unsure, please call the appropriate local
authority to nd out how to dispose of them safely and
help protect the environment.

SERVICE FOR YOUR PRODUCT
To obtain service for your product, we recommend
rst contacting an Etón service representative at 800-
872-2228 US, 800-637-1648 Canada or (650) 9033866 for problem determination and trouble-shooting.
If further service is required, the technical staff will
instruct how to proceed based on whether the radio is
still under warranty or needs non-warranty service.
WARRANTY
If your produc t is still in warranty and the Etón service
representative determines that warranty service
is needed, a return authorization will be issued and
instructions for shipment to an authorized warranty
repair facility. Do not ship your radio back without
obtaining the return authorization number.
NON-WARRANTY
If your produc t is no longer under warranty and requires
service our technical staff will refer you to the nearest
repair facility that will be able to best handle the repair.

to the distributor information included at time of
purchase/receipt.
