Lenton Form Saver is a 2 piece dowel bar assembly, consisting of a taper threaded coupler which is factory attached to the rebar and a separate reinforcing bar with external tapered threads.

FORM SAVER assemblies are shipped from Regional Manufacturing Centers with factory installed thread protection on the couplers and on the threaded rebar, as well as mounting plates to assist in positioning

the assembly against the formwork.

* For transition couplers, use the corresponding inspection wrench setting to the correct bar sizes being spliced.

INSTALLATION:

Step 1: Ensure you are installing the bar size as per plan. Be sure that the internal thread protection is installed in the end of the coupler.

Step 2: Lay the Form Saver dowel parallel with rebar to be spliced. Position coupler plate flush against formwork and tie the female Form Saver to the rebar mat. Be sure the bars are properly supported. Roofing nails can be used to assure the coupler plate stays flush against formwork. The plate on the coupler is not intended to support the weight of the

bar, workmen or equipment.

Step 3: - After concrete is placed and forms are stripped, the protective disk and face plate of the coupler are visible. The protective disk can be removed with a screwdriver.

( Puncture cap and pry out disk)

Step 4: Remove the bar end protector from the male bar. Visually inspect the thread to make sure it is a LENTON tapered thread and is undamaged and free of rust or debris. Use a wire brush if threads need to be cleaned.

Step 5: Insert the tapered end of the bar to be spliced into the coupler. Rotate the bar clockwise until hand tight (approx. 4 -1/2 turns). Using a standard pipe wrench, rotate the bar clockwise to securely tighten assembly. The LENTON inspection wrench can be used by inspector to periodically check tightness. (see chart for wrench setting)
